The Amulet

Chapter 9

As I come out of the darkened cave, watching the sun set over the jungle as I gently hug the mountain as I shimmy along the path I had taken to get up here, feeling very nervous about going round I suddenly feel wind swirl around me, lifting me off the mountain side and placing me gently on the trail. This is weird as I look down at the amulet now dimming as it had been glowing previously, the amulet must've helped me but how? And why? It should've of I didn't ask for help? Leaving myself with so many questions and full of confusion I carry on going down the trail heading towards the camp my uncle and Cas had set up.

As I slowly approach my uncle and Cas, both of there heads turn towards me and there jaws open with shock. 

"Hey guys!" I smile and wave as I stumble down the rest of the trail only to trip and fly towards Cas' big strong arms, catching me as I fall,

"Thanks, you seem to always catch me whenever I fall" I giggled "Well how can I not catch you?" He replied with a soft smile. He's eyes showed emotions that I never felt before, I've never felt someone's emotions before? 

Wow she's beautiful! I heard in my head, "What did you just say?" I asked Cas still looking at me, "I didn't say anything?" "Oh okay maybe it was the wind then" I shrug off knowing the wind isn't even that bad.

I quickly brush myself down and put some distance between me and Cas as I take a seat next to my Uncle Felix who looks at me dumbfounded,

"Are you okay Uncle Felix?" "Yes of course I am! My niece is safe and sound now I was worried about you up there" he says with a wink, I know you have the amulet Zara, it maybe concealed now but I don't know when it will appear. I raised an eyebrow at him "Uncle how did you know?" I whisper, I know because I felt the energy surge from you when you walked down, it's fine I know you will keep it safe he said that and smiled. "Thanks!"

The next day the sun rose, the birds flew around, I could smell the burning wood of a camp fire that my uncle had started, I slowly got up and got ready to start the hike back towards my Uncles place, 

"Morning guys!" "Morning Zara!" Both my uncle and Cas said together, I giggled at them.

"What's for breakfast today then?" "Well we only have this pack of oatmeal so we're all going to share it" 

"That's fine with me" I said with a smile.

We start to split the oatmeal between the 3 of us, and before we know it it's all gone. I quickly pack up my things, and then feel a presence behind me so I turn around and see Cas standing behind me, flashing me his award winning smile, it makes me weak at the knees and just melt under him.

"Hey Cas" "Hey Zara" "Are you okay?" "Yes are you?" "Yeah I'm okay, what's up?" "What do you mean?" "Well your standing there just watching me? Kinda weird don't ya think" I giggled "Oh yeah I was going to ask you if you needed any help?" "No I'm actually all done" "Oh okay, but I do wanna say something?" "Yeah what is it?" "Well I wanna just ask you if you would like to have dinner with me once we get back to civilization that is?" Abit stunned by this question I step back in shock "Yeah I would like that" as I smile back at him and he smiles back.

"Right guys let's go! I know a shortcut to get back to the main road" my uncle shouts at us obviously lost in our little moment. "Coming!"

We follow my uncle through the deep bush, cutting our way through onto the main road where we see people walking around, knowing we are close to the village. Watching the children run along the side of the road laughing and joking around made me feel at home it felt like I was back home with my family just in a different country. I turn around and Cas is behind me flashing me his award winning smile again, that smile hits me hard everytime I wouldn't mind seeing it all the time. I think about where he is going to take me out for our date as we come back soon as I think about the date I haven't been on a date in years, suddenly a wave of nausea hit me and I quickly grabbed my water bottle and took a couple of sips to pass the nausea I was having and thankfully it did, maybe I was getting nervous just like I was flying but lucky I had this magical man help me through it all.

Walking abit further into the village we come to my Uncles treehouse and I remember how beautiful it really is, and I turn and see Cas surprised by my uncles home too.

"Don't worry, I thought he was some weird old man living in the trees" I giggle

"I don't think your uncle would like to hear that, but this is beautiful though" as he points towards my Uncle Felix coming up behind us. "Right well Zara I'll leave you here, but I'll come and pick you up at around 7 if that's okay with you and your uncle?" He turns to my Uncle and my uncle just nods and so do I.
