The Planned Surprise
*RILEY HARRINGTON'S POV*
I sit quietly in the back of the taxi, fingers twisting the ticket card in my hand. City lights blur past as we near the marina where Wilden’s grand yacht party is being held. I spent every last penny of my savings on this ticket. I’m here to surprise my fiancé at his brand’s biggest celebration.
None of you know how lucky I am. My fiancé is Wilden Don Wulfric—billionaire, owner of Lux fashion.
I gave up my own modeling dream to support him. My sacrifice paid off.
The taxi slows. The yacht comes into view, massive and luxurious. The driver glances back.
“You sure you’re going to that fancy party? Don’t mean to be rude, but you don’t look like you belong there.”
I’m not dressed like a billionaire’s fiancée. I rarely go out, so I never bought high-end clothes. After buying the ticket, I could barely afford this dress.
“I’m going to surprise my fiancé. He’s the host,” I say.
The driver snorts. “Fiancée, huh?
I pay him and step out.
The yacht is even bigger up close. It’s ironic—Wilden owns it, yet I’ve never set foot on it. I make a note to suggest it for our honeymoon.
Security checks my ticket and waves me through. The deck is stunning: gleaming wood floors, crystal chandeliers, a live jazz band. A bar serves champagne to guests in designer clothes.
I don’t know anyone, so I head to the bar and order a drink.
I have two surprises: I secretly auditioned for a top modeling agency and got in on my first try. I can now help market his designs. And I bought him an expensive Rolex, paying it off monthly. He’ll be proud.
