My back arched as deft fingers danced across my skin, delicately tracing and teasing areas I didn't even know were sensitive.
I wound my fingers through a head of blonde hair, gasping when soft lips placed butterfly kisses along the length of my neck.
A breathy moan escaped me as the kisses turned into long, sensual licks. I had never felt this good before. It was making my head spin.
"I want to taste every part of you."
That alone nearly pushed me over the edge.
I was too hot. I could barely stand it. Warm pleasure coiled between my legs with every little nip against my tingling flesh. I gripped the silky waves under my fingertips, panting heavily when a warm hand snaked under the hem of my shirt to give the waistband of my jeans a playful tug.
The mouth that was assaulting my throat made its way up to my jaw and then wandered further to the corner of my lips. Another tug on my waistband led to a finger grazing the edge of my panties.
My stomach was flip flopping wildly. I was still fully clothed, yet I had never felt more exposed in my life. This man was barely touching me, teasing my body slowly, and the control he had over my pleasure was frightening.
One simple touch and I was putty in his hands.
I lost it when the mouth finally made contact with mine. I moaned into the kiss, desperately clawing into the broad back tensed beneath my arms.
I needed so much more.
"Let me give you whatever you need Lyra. Let me make all your dreams come true."
It was like he could read my mind.
My eyes snapped open to see molten gold ones admiring me lovingly.
"Aiden?"
"I can't wait to see you lose control," He cupped my face, pulling me in for another kiss.
A little voice in the back of my mind was screaming a warning at me, but it quieted as I lost myself in the intoxicating pressure of Aiden's lips against mine.
He pulled back slightly to trail kisses across my cheek, igniting flames along the way. I practically melted when he stopped at my ear, speaking softly while he went to work on the button of my jeans.
"You're so beautiful. I can't wait to use your pretty mouth. You'll open wide for me like a good girl won't you?"
I shuddered at the question. I had never been spoken to like this before. It was scary and exciting all at once.
"Lyra…" He groaned into my ear.
"Lyra." This time his voice sounded farther away.
"Lyra!"
I sat up, my arms flailing as I tried to come back to reality. I blinked bleary eyed at Aiden standing over the bed with the silver food tray in his hands. He was struggling to hide his amusement.
"Good morning sweetheart. Sleep well?" He smiled knowingly. Could he somehow sense that I had been dreaming about him? I shifted uneasily under his close watch.
When I wrapped the sheets tighter around myself I noticed plush sleeves covering my arms. There was a vague recollection of taking a long shower, slipping into an oversized, downy soft bathrobe, and face planting into the bed.
I let out a yawn, reaching up to rub my sleepy eyes, "What time is it?"
Aiden positioned the tray on my lap. An array of fruit was spread across it along with a few pieces of perfectly toasted bread. Regular butter, peanut butter, and jam were divided on a small plate. A bowl of cheerios and a glass of milk and a glass of orange juice were also somehow squeezed in there.
"Eleven AM. When I came by to check on you last night you were dead to the world. How are you feeling?"
"Other than being a kidnapping victim, and my head still hurting from the kidnapping attempt, I feel fine. Thank you."
His lips thinned into an unhappy line. I picked up a piece of toast and a knife to distract myself from the guilt trying to sneak its way into my heart.
He didn't seriously expect me to be understanding about this did he? I wasn't some ungrateful house guest. I didn't ask to be brought here.
He spoke up when he saw me eyeing the plate in front of me, "I didn't know what you like to put on your toast. That's how I make mine."
Aiden pointed to the peanut butter. Without hesitation I dipped the knife into it and smeared it on the toast.
A satisfied groan came out as I dug in. My stomach finally woke up to grumble loudly. Aiden looked like he was about to jump for joy.
I felt my eyebrows raise. It was just peanut butter.
He smirked at me, "You want to please me, even if you aren't aware of it yet."
I gasped and started choking on my food.
Aiden simply sat down next to me with a smug grin. The bed dipped and I finished coughing around my toast just in time to stop the tray from tipping off my lap.
"I have never wanted to please a man a day in my life. Including you." I hissed, shoving the tray of unfinished food at him. My appetite had vanished.
He sighed as if he was dealing with a stubborn child.
How could I have been having a sexy dream about this irritating man less than twenty minutes ago? My lip curled up in disgust.
"Are you sure about that Lyra? Can you without a doubt say that there isn't a tiny sliver of yourself deep down that wants to please me?"
Aiden may be a stalker, a kidnapper, and who knows what else. But this attitude was new.
He had to be insane. He teetered between sweet and shameless and apparently could flip the switch in seconds.
"I have never been more sure in my life. Let me make myself crystal f*****g clear Aiden Sullivan. I will never want to please you." He flinched as if an invisible hand had reached out to slap him. I straightened, ready to drive my point home.
"Never. Do you understand me? I was perfectly happy before you came along. You took me from my family. If I ever get to go back home I will probably be fired from my job because of you. You don't understand how bad you screwed my family over by doing that." My teeth were chattering from the anger and once the dam broke, I couldn't stop the words from flowing.
"You are holding me hostage and trying to force your sick delusions on me. How do I even know Elias is real? How do I know for certain that you aren't actually the bad guy here?"
Aiden's bright eyes dulled. He was stony faced and quiet for what felt like forever. When he finally spoke, his voice was hoarse.
"Do not speak to me like that Lyra. I saved you. I saved you from that shifter that tried to attack you. From that town that treated you like you were nothing. And I am going to save you from Elias. I saved you because you are mine and I would do anything to protect you. My world revolves around you now."
My mouth went dry as he slid off the bed to crouch down in front of me. "I don't know why you are lying to me about the mate bond, why you are trying to pretend like it isn't real, why you don't want to make me happy like I want to do for you, but it's unacceptable. You will respect me."
His big chest was heaving and his eyes were glazed over . He was losing control and trying to scare me into submission.
But I had growled at him yesterday.
I had done the unthinkable. And I would not submit.
My fist swung forward in a split second and made contact with his nose before he could stop me. The loud crunch made a sickening satisfaction bloom in my chest.
"What the f**k?" He screamed, blood gushing behind the hand he was pressing against his face.
The bedroom door banged open and Killian ran in, sliding across the floor as he took in the messy scene.
My face twitched in response to my tingling teeth. I was able to hit Aiden without injuring myself. And I was actually having a physical reaction to the shift trying to come on, not just feel it's faint presence.
"Hell yes! Did you hit him? Holy s**t you are incredible!" Killian shouted excitedly. He rushed over and grabbed me by my chin, inspecting me with his cold eyes.
His smile faded as he tilted my head up, "How? That's not possible…" He murmured and yanked my face forward and pulled my top lip upward.
I let out a squeal and Aiden jumped up to separate us.
"Don't touch her!"
"Don't touch me!"
Aiden and I protested at the same time. Killian looked lost. He gave me a long, hard look before spinning on his heel and storming out of the room.
"What was that about?" I whispered, wrapping my arms around myself. A chill ran down my spine.
"Are you okay?" Aiden touched my shoulder. I snorted and turned to him with a smirk.
"Are you okay? You're still bleeding." I gestured to his face and he winced at the reminder. "I'm not sorry but the way. You are acting just like the people from the town you claim to have rescued me from. But I will help you clean up. Come on."
I went into the bathroom and grabbed a washcloth out of a cupboard. I placed it in the sink and let warm water run over it while Aiden pulled a velvet covered stool into the room and plopped down on it.
I wrung the washcloth out and pushed his head back, leaning over him so I could assess the damage. The bleeding was slowing. He would start healing soon.
"For the record," I paused to pat around his nose gently, "I am not lying about the mate bond. I have no reason to. From what I know it's supposed to be irresistible. I simply don't feel it."
He turned away, leaving me to stand there awkwardly with a blood soaked washcloth as he trembled.
"I know you feel it," Aiden growled. He stilled for a moment then turned around to face me again. I stepped back. His eyes were black again. "You have to feel it."
"Aiden," I dropped to my knees so we were face to face. "You said it hurts. The only thing that hurts is my head. That's it. There is no bond."
He grasped my wrist with his large hand, pulling me forward so we were only a couple inches away from each other.
"I know you were dreaming about me."
