Chapter 3: Unholy Matrimony

1452 Words
“Hello vigilantes, I have a special gift for you all” She hollered in a high tone that wasn’t necessary. Discreetly people rolled their eyes at her presence. Sabrina Beck. It was revealed to me a few months ago that she was working with us, but had a completely different agenda that she kept to herself. People were weary of her because she spent all of her time with the Ace family. She was the one who came to tell us that both Christina and Sebastian survived that night. For some reason, when the headmistress was told that I shot Sebastian, she was angry, over the moon angry, and told me and everyone else was off limits from killing Sebastian because she had separate plans for him. Carmine has never told us what those plans were, I guess we had no other choice but to wait and see. Sabrina was a sly, pampered, obnoxious b***h. We’ve exchanged a few unfriendly words here and there. If you were there to witness it, we engaged in a bit of a tussle where she left with a broken nose. She made sure to shoot me down with a look of disgust before addressing the group once more.  “Ladies and Gentleman, I have an announcement” Sabrina held a deck of champagne white envelopes in her hands. Carmine and I exchanged looks of wary, she wasn’t the biggest fan of Sabrina either. I don’t think anyone in this room liked her, but she gave us use in her father’s security company which gave us the benefit of being able to get in and out of places, jurisdiction to heavily protected buildings, and more. We needed her. Individually, she started to slide envelopes across the table in every direction making sure everyone received her ‘special gift’. I had no interest in Sabrina’s theatrics, I couldn’t care less about the news she wanted to disclose. A small sigh came to my lips as I watched everyone pick up the envelopes from the table, I followed along. Opening it, I pulled out a rectangular card that was scented with vanilla. I tossed the empty envelope back onto the table and began to read the contents of the card, which was an invitation. Dearest reader, With time and miracles and on their side. Bringing together two families, with love and prosperity, we invite you to the holy matrimony of Sabrina Beck and Sebastiano Asso.  Disclosing the date and location of the wedding and the time the reception should start. His name was written out in big interconnecting cursive letters underneath Sabrina’s. It made me ponder how Sabrina could be so happy with an arranged marriage, did she not know that his proposal was forced? Three days. The ceremony would take place in three days. Then their life would start as husband and wife. “We would’ve been married sooner but someone got a little trigger happy, his recovery wasn’t easy you know” Sabrina directed her words at me, my eyes lifted up from the wedding invitation. My lips curled into a forced smile while I shot a death glare at Sabrina. She crossed her arms over her chest and c****d her head at me. Wanting to get a rise out of me Sabrina smirked and slowly brought her hands over her stomach. “I have been feeling a bit nauseous over the last few weeks, some of you know that we’ve been working towards a baby” As much as she wanted me to, I didn’t care. I didn’t care about her forced wedding or her demon spawn child.  “Congratulations Sabrina, I wish you nothing but a happy and a bright future” After that, my teeth bit down on my tongue holding myself back from spitting an insult. Everyone in the room sat frozen in their seats watching the tense interaction exchange between me and Sabrina. “Sabrina, can you remind me again why this marriage to Sebastian is so vital?” One of the girl’s named Emily, and she was assigned to Francisco and Aaron’s team. Pulling the attention off of me Sabrina looked at Emily. I was two seconds away from running across the conference table and pouncing on her. “Carmine built this organization to take down powerful families. I’ve already signed the paperwork, me and Sebastian share control of the Ace family and the businesses. Once he dies, I will be the sole owner. I don’t intend for my plan to take years, the minute Sebastiano says I do, I’ll have my trusted sniper-” Sabrina motioned to Francisco who looked more than ready to pull the trigger. It made me wonder how long this plan has been in action, and how long Francisco has kept this from me.  “Shoot him right at the altar, and the Ace family will be under our control” Sabrina held her chin up high as if she single handedly delivered world peace. Everyone looked at Carmine, who stared at Sabrina with a blank expression. Her fingertips tapped along the surface of the conference table, she was rendered silent for a few moments before finally speaking up.  “No, I remember strictly saying that I have other plans for the Ace family. Plans that do not involve any of you. If you love Sebastiano-” Carmine leaned back in her seat and brought her attention back down to the tablet in front of her. Sabrina stood there astounded that Carmine rejected her plans, the look on her face made it hard for me to hold back a chuckle.  “Love has nothing to do with it, I want his money and you want control of the Ace family. This is the time where we act Carmine, why are you always holding back?” Carmine slowly raised her head up and looked at Sabrina with knitted eyebrows. There were a million questions running through her mind. I knew that look of hers. “Let me stop you right there because it sounds like you are questioning my authority, which I will not have. Now is not the time to kill Sebastiano. Call off the wedding, get an abortion, I don’t care what you do as long as it doesn’t interfere with my plans then it shouldn’t be a problem. So please sit down before you make more of a fool out of yourself.” Carmine was strict, stern, and had a bit of a sadistic humor I loved about her. Sabrina stood there offended and at a loss for words. My strength diminished, a light snorkel escaped my nose, a smirk shaped my lips. Unfortunately for me the room was quiet which was easy to pick up on my humored reaction. Sabrina’s attention landed back on me and I shrugged lightly. Not being able to take her apparent anger out on Carmine, I was her next target. “Tell me, pizza crust, from that run down dirty orphanage you come from-” The nickname brought back horrid memories I wanted nothing to do with. My lips pressed firmly together and my body stiffened in my seat. I only ever told one person about that. Sabrina placed her palms on the conference table and leaned forward, eyeing me down with satisfaction in her eyes. “Did they teach you that sleeping with an engaged man while you were in your own relationship was ethical?” My hands balled up in a fist crunching the wedding invitation in the process. Bringing my eyes to those around the room who were shocked at the revelation. The only person who knew about my infidelity was Carmine and Francisco. While my boyfriend couldn’t even look or defend me others shot me down with looks of disgust and disappointment. “Among all the things he told me slut, Sebastiano did tell me all they fed you was pizza crust, maybe your brain lacked essential nutrients, and grew up a bit mentally challenged. Therefore I can’t blame you for your whorish acts-” Sabrina said mockingly, I couldn’t take it anymore, I wanted to rip out her spine and shove it down her throat. Grabbing a hold of my purse I shot up from my seat and headed straight for the door,   “Girls like you should know their place, in the gutter..” Sabrina said as I stormed right past her and right through the door. I couldn’t breathe, there were so many emotions running through my mind my judgement started to cloud with murderous thoughts. I wasn’t mad that pieces of my childhood were revealed, it was just a mind bending thing how someone could mock someone else’s trauma.
