Jealously

It was Sunday afternoon and Kate thought of going to visit Liam since she had stayed away from the office the entire week. As she drove into his yard, she noticed there was a maroon Benz parked near his front door. She guessed he may have guests around. She didn’t hesitate and went in. she had been to his house several times and Liam told her to always walk in freely whenever she visited. When the door opened, she could hear the voices coming from the TV in the living room. She went straight in and found a young girl who must have been in her early twenties or even younger. She was seated folding her legs on the sofa. Kate wasn’t pleased seeing her like this because all her thighs were exposed. She got up from the sofa once she noticed someone had entered the room. She got up and adjusted her tiny skirt making no difference because it was still short. She then walked over to where Kate was standing.

“Hello” she said. Kate just stood there wondering why there was a teenager in his house almost naked. She had never heard him mention a girlfriend and after their little affair Kate was sure he wasn’t seeing anyone, but this was confusing her.

“Excuse me” she spoke once again. “I’m Liam’s girlfriend. Can I help you with anything?”

Girlfriend!!!!!!!! Liam didn’t mention he had a girlfriend. The term ‘girlfriend’ shocked Kate she didn’t know what was going on. Soon Liam walked in with a bowl full of popcorn and some wine glasses.

“Did you say you wanted wine or champing……………” Liam entered the living room and found Kate standing there.

“I think she’s deaf, I tried to talk to her, but she won’t speak” the other girl blurt out. Disgust was written all over Kate’s face from what she was seeing and Liam picked it up and tried to talk to her after he put the bowl and glasses down.

“Hey, I didn’t know you were coming over” Liam said.

“I thought I should pass by and see if you were okay but I can see you are very well.” Kate glared once more at the girl and then back at Liam and left the house.

“Who’s she” she asked.

“Someone important” Liam left his house to try and run after Kate but she was already in her car and driving out.

“f**k, she shouldn’t have seen this.” Liam stood there with one of his hands at the back of his head regretting all that had just happened.

Kate drove straight to her house without even looking back. She tried to hold back her tears but no matter how hard she tried they just started flowing. She didn’t understand why she was feeling this way. Nothing was confirmed between her and Liam which meant he was free to date anyone else. Was it the pregnancy hormones confusing everything?

She went straight to bed not leaving room to cry or think about Liam.

Kate’s POV

Monday morning.

I really didn’t want to see Liam at the office today. I knew he would come in early and wait for me to come in so that we can talk. He called me so many times yesterday after I left his house and I ignored all his calls and messages. I got to the office at 8am and glad he was in a meeting. I had so much work to do since I hadn’t been in the office for the past week. I got straight into it. When his meeting finished I left to run a few errands without giving him a chance to talk to me. I was gone the entire day and returned at 3pm. He had sent me a few messages and called me a few times which I ignored. I don’t know what was making me behave like this. It was the pregnancy hormones again.

The moment I walked into my office he came right in behind me. My face was as emotionless as a mask.

“Kate where have you been all day” he asked as he closed the door behind me.

I was now typing something on my laptop and didn’t stop one bit to look at him. “I went to finish up a few errands I left hanging last week” I knew this was bothering him and he would snap or ignore me too. He was now sitting in the chair in front of me facing me. He reached for my hand and said.

“Kate am sorry about what your saw, it meant nothing. She just came over to visit. She’s an old friend of mine”

More like an old fling if you ask me. I really didn’t want to talk about how my boss ignored me all week and when I decide to visit him I find him with a teenager.

“I visited the auditors and they are ready to come in for an audit whenever we are ready” after I said this I reached into my laptop bag and pulled out a brown envelop with some documents.

“This is a quotation you asked for from Sheeriji” I resumed typing on my laptop and he got angry and rose from the chair.

“Am talking to you and you are ignoring me!!!” he was angry and raised his voice.

“Sir don’t raise your voice, am simply giving you feedback from my activities” I replied in a calm voice.

“If this is what you want then fine!” he grabbed the quotation and left my office.

The day went on. He was angry because I was ignoring him and I only responded if he asked me anything relating to work. I could hear him yelling at everyone who walked into his office and well I ignored him either way.

Due to his frustration Liam left the office early and I stayed behind to finish up a few things until 6:30pm when I decided to leave.

The next couple of days went by very fast and well Liam and I hardly spoke to each other. When we did speak it was work related and I became used to it. I wasn’t going to catch feelings for him when I was already expecting a child with someone who I clearly didn’t remember.

Friday before the week ended we finished all the work that needed to be attended to by 12pm. I stood by the cabinet to file some documents, I heard someone walk in. I turned around to see who it was and it was a young beautiful lady probably in her twenties. Her skin looked flawless and her clothes looked very expensive. She walked over to where Liam was standing and they hugged. Liam gave me a cheesy smile I didn’t quit understand so I left the room. When I went back to my office I could see them flirting with each other for a few minutes then Liam phoned my office.

“Am leaving see you on Monday.”

“I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday so I will come in late”

“That’s fine.” He hangs up.

My blood boiled as soon as they left the office. I don’t know why this bothered me a lot.
