CHAPTER 12 – THE LABYRINTHA little later Erik got out of bed. He wasn’t all that hungry and more than anything he fancied a long, hot bath and some clean clothes. He brushed the straw off his shirt and his trousers and slipped out of the bedroom. As he opened the door, he saw a shadow disappear down a dark corridor. Had someone been hiding outside, listening to everything? Who could it be? Erik cupped his hand around his ear, but he couldn’t hear anything. It was probably just his imagination. Erik was just about to go back inside his room, when he saw a pile of clothes by the door. He brought them into the light. There was a pair of britches, a tunic and a pair of shoes, all made of thin, light-brown leather. They were soft and light, just like the clothes Trud wore. Erik held them up
