CHAPTER 16 – HOW TO TRAIN LIKE A VIKINGThe following morning Erik was left alone with Ull. Trud went home, and Erik began his life in Taksdale. It was a hard life, but he had no intention of giving up. He wanted to prove, most of all to himself, that he could do it, and at the very least, he didn’t want to make a fool of himself. Ull was a wonderful man, friendly and very human. He could get Erik to keep practising for hours on end, day in, day out. There was something about him that Erik had never experienced before; a feeling of camaraderie, and a genuine enthusiasm. It wasn’t just about the hard slog to get fitter, but also about your attitude to yourself and your relationship to others.
