The wedding song played as I held onto my dad's hand, well rather his wheelchair. He wheeled along side me with his oxygen tank behind him, his cancer was getting worse but he still wanted to be there for his little girl's big day. My mom sat in the very front of the church looking back at us with tears in her eyes. I still remember the fantastic dinner we had when I brought Ryan over to introduce him to my parents, and the millions of questions she fired at us, I smiled at the memory.
My gaze traveled to a couple rows behind her where Darren sat with his husband and they're child, well Darren's child from the surrogate but the papers were in the process of John legally adopting Marissa, the precious nine month old.
Across from Darren and John sat Mandy and Cayden, who were smiling my way as Cayden rested his hands on Mandy's very pregnant stomach. She would have been a bridesmaid, no matter how much she annoyed me, but she said she wouldn't want to look back at the size of the dress she would have had to wear.
That left me with Lacy as my maid of honor standing across from Ryan, her own bling sparkling on her finger. I was going to be going to her wedding in the near future when her and her fiancée Martin got married. Two of her sisters flanked her side, whom I had gotten to know very well since I didn't have any other friends to be my bridesmaids.
Finally as my dad and I neared the end of the aisle my eyes met Ryan's and he smiled down at me, as I looked up and saw the tears in the corners of his eyes, his best man giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
"Crybaby." I laughed into his ear as I stepped up to him and my dad gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"You cried like a baby when you sat in the dressing room, Lacy told me." He teased and I faked a gasp as I leaned back and looked at the pastor expectantly.
We said our vows and finally the pastor looked between us with a smile on his face, "You may kiss Mrs. James, Mr. James."
Ryan leaned down to capture my lips in his, taking my breath away as we molded together the sound of clapping being drowned out by the sound of my own furiously beating heart.
Mr. and Mrs. James.
