In Which One Wins A Bet

1493 Words
“Let’s make a bet, Jane.” Ryan said. I rolled my eyes, looking up at him from under my eyelashes. “Your suggesting I make a bet with the devil?” I reply. “Fine Ms. Everson, don’t take the reward, even though I know you’d like a nice bonus and pay raise but its okay.” He replied back, causally walking away, holding his hand up. “Wait, wait. Now I hear you. What’s the bet?” My curiosity peaks. “Oh so you are willing to make a bet with the devil now, huh?” He smirks. “Shut up and tell me what it is, you're always so complicated.” “Okay fine, eager. Whoever tries to seduce, or kiss, the other loses. If you win you get a bonus and pay raise, and if I win you do whatever I say for an entire day, on whatever day I choose.” He says. My stomach and mind whirl, I’m dating Cayden we shouldn’t even be making this bet, we’re both in committed relationships. Well at least one of us. Which one of us are you talking about? My subconscious mocked. My mouth spoke before my brain overanalyzed any further. “Deal.” I stick my hand out to shake his. “How bout we seal it with a kiss?” A goofy smile comes across his face. “Oh shut up, I should already win just cause of that.” I giggled, shaking my hand in his. Sparks shoot up my arm and I pull away quickly. “Uh, how about you go work on the Mr. Chang project please.” His voice is back to cold and I roll my eyes, typical of him. …. The rest of the week sails bye, Ryan noticeably avoids me. Am I that hard to not make a move on? I laugh to myself, yeah right. Amelia notices a change in us and I just shrug telling her that we had a bet. Cayden and I became distant. He stopped sending me cute messages, I guess I had taken them for granted. He hadn’t come over but once and that was to drop off some game for Darren. He barely acknowledged me. I looked around at my empty desk, I basically had a free hour. Ryan was out doing something and I had really nothing to do as of right now for the Chang assignment. I picked up my phone, dialing his number. It rang three times then he picked up. “Hey.” I chirped happily. “Uh, hey.” His deep voice came through the phone. “What’s up? You’ve barely talked to me this week.” I say, frowning slightly. “Yeah, I had no reason to talk to someone who has no interest in me.” Cayden replied coldly. “What are you talking about?” I ask. “Lily something, a tall brunette girl, came to me telling me you and Ryan had something going on. She was in tears and said I needed to know, I can’t believe someone who writes to people about cheating would do that.” He laughs dryly. “What are you talking about that’s not true! She hates me!” I yell. “Look, your telling me you’ve never done anything with the guy?” He asks, hope in his voice. “Cayden, hear me out-“ I was cut off by his voice. “Look, I don’t need to hear it. The answer should have been no, without an explanation.” A women’s voice sounded from behind him somewhere. “Cayden, babe, come back to bed!” The familiar voice screeched. I swallowed hard, fury containing my body. “Is that Mandy? That’s how you get back at me for doing something you didn’t even ask me about. Wow, I could have sworn you were different.” I laugh, my bitter words slicing through the phone. I hung up and threw my phone across my desk. I sat for a minute, hot tears building up in my eyes. Why was I even upset over him? I did kiss Ryan, I got jealous over the guy, I made s****l bets with him. I was basically cheating. Well I hadn’t actually kissed Ryan since me and Cayden became official or serious really, I think. I had done things that would probably make the average person jealous, its not cheating. Why would Lily say something like that, that b***h! I heard the outer office door open and shut and Ryan stalk over to his desk, throwing papers frustratedly on his desk. Two could play that game Cayden. I smirked to myself, walking out of my office. I unbuttoned the top two buttons on my blouse, exposing my white bra. My heels made no sound on the carpet floor. Ryan was facing the window again, a hand running through his soft hair. He was breathing heavy like he was angry. I undid my hair, shaking it out and ruffling it. My hands came in contact with his muscular back, I slid my hands down gently. He turned around, a look of shock on his face. “Jane, what are you doing?” He asked, confusion and shock on his face. I walked closer, standing up taller, trailing kisses down his neck. “Do you not like it?” I ask in between kisses. “No, uh no not that its just this is breaking the bet you know. Kissing and seduction. I win.” I felt his smirk. “Are you really worrying about that bet at this time?” I said still kissing his neck. He swallowed audibly and shifted uncomfortably. “What about Cayden?” He asked. “Your worried about him right now. I’m not. In fact, your girlfriend went to him and told him you and I were having an affair, then I heard Mandy in the background calling his name.” I snapped, walking slowly away from him. He grabbed my wrist, holding me in place, his eyes greedily taking in my undone shirt and loose hair. “This is some type of revenge?” He asked, hurt crossing his features. “No, aren’t you the one who said there’s s****l tension between us?” I asked, he pulled me closer into his body. I leaned my head against his chest breathing deeply, all traces of Cayden gone from my mind. “Oh God, I think I like you.” He blurted. I pulled away from him and looked up at him. “What did you just say?” I ask. “I said I think I like your body.” He corrects. “Lily’s is better I bet.” I mutter looking down. “Don’t ever say that, look at me.” He forced my chin up. “You are the most beautiful person I have ever seen. Your curves, your hair, your body everything Jane. Don’t say that ever again.” He was leading us towards the couch in the corner of his office. “There’s no going back after what I’m about to do to you Jane.” he said. “I don’t want to go back.” My voice quivered nervously. “Good.” He said, pushing me softly down on to the couch, expertly pulling my skirt down as he did. ….. “Oh God Darren. He was well endowed I promise you.” My face was a bright red and Darren was clapping happily. “You go girl, screw Cayden, I really didn’t like him anyways.” He laughs as I fall back onto the pillows around my bed. “What am I going to do, I dug myself deeper into a hole with him, and in both ways if you know what I mean.” I laughed. “No!” “Yes! I felt like I lost my second virginity I’m forever ruined from any other guy, I think I might have bled.” I blush. “Okay that’s it, I’ll take him right now served on a gold dish.” He declares. “Its a silver platter D.” I giggle again. “And he’s mine.” I say sternly. “Whoa whoa, is he now?” Darren asks. I don’t answer, instead I look at my phone a sudden text from Cayden. Can we talk? I get ready to respond when another text beeps from my phone: We can’t. That was a one time thing. It was from Ryan.
