"Who gave you the permission to come in?" Magnus's frosty voice resonated through the dimly lit room.
Seraphina couldn't help but flinch at his tone as her eyes darted across the room, searching for where the words came from.
"I'm right here" Magnus stated, and the lights were turned on instantly, illuminating the room.
Seraphina spotted Magnus sitted behind a desk at the farthest corner of the room.
"Phew.... You scared me" She breathed a sigh of relief, her face red with embarrassment as she recalled the reason she was there in the first place. "Magnus, I....."
"You haven't answered my question, Seraphina" He cut her off. "Who asked you to come in?"
Seraphina was angered by the interruption and snapped. "Well, if you aren't deaf, I'm sure you heard me knock. Why didn't you answer?"
"Are you talking to me?" Magnus asked, stunned by the outburst.
No one had ever spoken to him in such manner.
"If you have nothing important to say, leave my room" He added with a sharp tone.
Realizing her mistake, Seraphina bowed her head in apology. "I'm sorry. Actually, I have something very important to say."
Magnus's gaze lingered on her for a moment before voicing out. "Out with it now!"
Seraphina suddenly started acting coy with puppy eyes, which made Magnus wonder where the previous crazy attitude had gone.
With deep breath, she took a step towards him, then another, swaying her hips awkwardly. She wasn't used to such, and she felt kind of weird.
"What are you doing?" Magnus berated as that air on his body rose. "Don't come closer."
"It's our wedding night. I thought you'll need my company" Seraphina said in a strangely seductive voice, and Magnus scoffed.
"You're dumber than I thought" He snarled. "I don't remember telling you your company was needed."
Seraphina's face became redder. "Well, we're a couple. Shouldn't we do what couples are expected to do?"
"Which is?" Magnus asked teasingly, and Seraphina blushed for the umpteenth time.
"I... it's... it's what every couples do" Seraphina muttered, halting her steps. "Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about."
Magnus folded his arms and smirked. "Well, sorry to burst your bubbles, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Quit with this foolish act of yours."
His words almost quenched the zeal in her, but the craziness in her veins kept her going.
She resumed her steps, but this time, it was a bit better.
"I felt I should thank you for your generous act yesterday" She whispered as she drew near to him.
"What generous act are you talking about?" Magnus queried as he stood up and walked a distance away from his desk. "We had an agreement and I fulfilled my own part of the deal. What's left is for the five years ultimatum to come to an end."
"But we're still married till then" Seraphina argued. "I would feel bad if I don't perform my duties."
"Then don't feel anything" Magnus snapped, eyeing her suspiciously. "What in heaven's name are you trying to do?"
"I just said it's our wedding night. Do I have to spell it out loud?" Seraphina half yelled.
The moment she got to him, she tried touching him, but he dodged her hands effortlessly.
*Is there something wrong with me?* Seraphina couldn't help but ask herself as she stared at her hand hanging in the air. She looked back at him, and for a second, she thought she saw a disturbed look on his face, but it was just for a fleeting moment.
"Magnus" Seraphina whispered, trying to close the distance between them again, but Magnus took several steps back and she ended up falling on her butt.
"Ouch!!" She screamed out in pain, and gripped her butt tightly. "Magnus, help me out here."
She stretched her hands, waiting for a grab, but felt nothing. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw Magnus standing on the same spot, looking at her like he was seeing a ghost.
"Aren't you going to help me?" She questioned, feeling upset.
"No. You have legs. Help yourself" He rejected coldly, and walked to his bedside.
Seraphina watched as he ignored her and sat on his bed, fidgeting with his phone. She painstakingly stood up and walked up to him.
"Magnus" She called, and he looked at her.
"Aren't you done with your scene yet?" He asked, his tone laced with sarcasm. "Well, for your information, I'm not as jobless as you are. I have work to do."
Heartbroken and dejected that her plan had failed, Seraphina simply nodded and turned to leave. She suddenly halted, and turned back. She climbed his bed, and tried to hug him, but something unexpected happened.
Magnus rolled away with a shrill scream. "Don't you dare try to touch me?"
"What?!" Seraphina exclaimed, and got off the bed, her expression turned solemn. "Am I that repulsing? Do you hate me that much? I only tried to touch you."
She sniffed hard and blinked her eyes repeatedly, trying hard to stop the tears welled up in her eyes from falling.
Magnus's cold eyes softened a bit as he realized what his sudden actions have caused.
"You're not the problem" He stated, his voice firm. "I just have issues with having physical contact with women."
Seraphina's eyes widened in shock. "I don't understand. You don't let women touch you? You've never touched a woman before?"
Magnus shook his head. "No, I haven't, so can you stop trying to do whatever you have in mind? I need to get some sleep."
"Wait!" Seraphina called sharply. "You mean you have a phobia for touching women?"
"What part of not touching women do you not understand?" Magnus snapped, pointing at the door. "Leave my room now."
"Fine..fine.. I'll go" Seraphina said, raising her hands in surrender with a slight chuckle. "Although, I'm surprised. It's weird that...."
"Seraphina" Magnus called fiercely. "Don't let me repeat myself."
"Yes, boss" Seraphina said playfully, and bursted into laughter as she ran out of Magnus's room. The moment she got to her doorstep, she stood still, trying to reflect on what she had discovered.
