The boy I hated
The first thing I noticed about Daniel Carter was his attitude.
The second thing was that he was standing in my way.
“Are you going to move?” I asked.
He looked at me slowly, then at the classroom door behind him.
“No.”
I stared at him. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
It was only my first morning at Westbridge High, and somehow I had already found the most annoying person in the entire school.
I tightened my grip on my books.
“I need to get into that classroom.”
“And I need to stand here.”
“Why?”
He shrugged. “Because I can.”
I took a deep breath.
Great.
New school. New classmates. New teachers.
And apparently, a new enemy.
I pushed past him and walked into the classroom.
A few students turned to look at me. I ignored them and chose an empty seat near the window.
A girl with curly hair dropped into the seat beside me.
“Hi,” she whispered. “I'm Maya.”
“Favour.”
“You're new, right?”
I nodded.
Before she could say anything else, the teacher walked in.
“Good morning, class.”
Everyone became quiet.
She placed some books on her desk and looked around the room.
“We have a new student today. Favour Morgan, please introduce yourself.”
I stood up.
“My name is Favour. I just transferred here. That's all.”
A few people laughed.
I sat down quickly.
Then I heard a familiar voice from the back.
“Very inspiring.”
I turned.
Daniel was sitting there, looking amused.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
He smiled.
I already hated him.
And I had only known him for ten minutes.
I had no idea that by the end of the day, Daniel Carter would become the biggest problem in my new school.
And I definitely didn't know that one day, I would wish I had never hated him at all.
