THIRD PERSON POV
Joaquin stood on his balcony, sipping whiskey as he pondered Ariella's strange behavior this past week.
"What are you up to, young man?" he wondered. Something was off about her. She had been dressing and acting ladylike, which was unlike her. She hadn't even tried to escape in the past week. Joaquin suspected Mia might have done something to her or had something on her that kept her in line.
Just then, Mia appeared behind him, wearing a short pink nightdress and holding a bottle of white wine and two glasses. "What are you thinking?" she asked, her voice feminine and sweet.
Joaquin turned to face her, annoyed. "What are you doing here?" he asked gruffly.
Mia smiled, pouring wine into the glasses. "I just needed someone to share a drink with, that's all."
Joaquin's expression turned cold. "I'm not interested. Leave."
Mia ignored him, handing him a glass. "Oh, calm down. Don't tell me you still have hard feelings against me just because I managed to do what you couldn't do for months – tame our little thief, Katherina."
Joaquin's eyes narrowed. "That's what you think. It's just a matter of time before she escapes."
Mia laughed, her eyes sparkling. "That sounds like shame speaking."
Joaquin's anger flared. "If you want to hear shame speaking, just look in the mirror. Now get out of my room and put some clothes on. You look like a hoe, begging to be fucked."
Mia's smile grew wider, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "Really, tell me, does my outfit turn you on? Feel free to tell me; you never know, I might be inclined to let you have a taste."
Joaquin's expression turned sincere. "Yes."
Mia's eyes widened in surprise. "Infact, I'm so turned on that I think I would pay that cute little tomboy for rounds. Surely, she would be twice as good in bed as you can ever be."
Mia's face turned red with rage. "How dare you compare me to that filthy slut? I demand an apology..."
Before she could finish, Von burst in, panting. "I'm sorry to barge in like this, Alpha, Beta Mia, but we have a problem."
Mia's expression turned confused. "What is it?"
Von hesitated. "Katherina escaped."
Joaquin's smile grew wider. He knew it was only a matter of time before his little doll escaped. The chase was exhilarating.
Mia's face turned pale. "How did that happen?"
Von explained, "She commanded me to excuse her so she could take her medications, but when I reopened the door after some time, she was gone."
Joaquin's eyes narrowed. "What medications?"
Mia remained silent, her eyes flashing with anger.
Joaquin's gaze lingered on Mia, his expression cold. He knew she had been using drugs to control Katherina.
Without another word, Joaquin headed downstairs, following Katherina's sugary scent to one of his couches. He found her hiding behind it.
Mia's eyes widened in anger. "You witch, how long have you been hiding there?"
Joaquin stopped Mia from touching Katherina. "Don't you even think of touching my investment."
Katherina reluctantly obeyed Joaquin's command to come to him.
As Ariella headed to Joaquin's room, Mia's eyes flashed with anger. "You helped her escape."
Joaquin shrugged. "Think whatever you want."
In his room, Joaquin found Ariella waiting patiently on his bed. "You have been a very naughty boy, you know."
He took out a handcuff from his bedside drawer. "Cuff one of your hands, preferably your least favorite one."
Katherina's lip curved into a sick smile. "What's making you so happy?" Joaquin asked, doubtful.
"Nothing, apart from the fact that you think a piece of furniture can hold me. I can easily just break it and be home free."
Joaquin chuckled, cuffing her to his right wrist. "Looks like you're stuck with me, young man."
