Evelyn Pov It was the pre wedding night, and we were preparing to have a big family time. That was precisely what the Lycan king called it. He was so elated about it that he laughed aloud in pure gladness. My heart was numb and for some reason, it was hard to process everything that was currently happening. My mother was about to get married to a man whom I’m mated to his sons. That was definitely ridiculous and at the same time, unfortunate… I considered it unfortunate because it would trigger some sort of chaos if the truth finally comes to the surface. “Evelyn! You should come downstairs. You shouldn’t be late for the dinner”, my mother called out to me, after which I heard the sound of her footsteps diminishing. For the hundredth time, I took in a deep breath as I rubbed the lipstick evenly around my lips. I stared at my reflection for the last time, after which I stomped out of the room. Some people considered me to be a fat and oversized young lady, but I saw myself as a perfectly endowed woman who stole the gazes of every single person she comes across. Just as I approached the dining hall, I caught sight of Ryan, who rolled his eyes at me and quickly darted his eyes. Cold shills ran down my spine, but quickly transited to excitement the moment I got a smile from Nathan and a wink from Blaze. I had the attention of the three other boys, and I wasn’t ready to feel bad because Ryan made me feel worthless. “My dear family! It’s a day before the wedding and I can’t help but thank the moon goddess for giving me a family this huge and great”, the Lycan king said with a wide smile while my mother blushed in excitement. I was nervous and couldn’t help moving my feet continuously beneath the table. Nathan seemed to observe this because almost immediately, he placed his hands on my lap and smiled at me. Every other person was engrossed with what the King said, except Ryan, who was sending dead glares across to me. I could remember how he had asked me to avoid him, and each time I saw him, I tried so hard to keep to that. However, it was hard and almost impossible since I felt attracted to him each time I saw him. “Let’s eat!” The Lycan king finally said and almost immediately, the clanking sound of the forks and spoon on the plates rented the air. “You all need to see the wedding dress I would be wearing tomorrow”, my mother suddenly said and I couldn’t help but clench my fist beneath the table. This was honestly the wrong time for her to have this kind of conversation because I was in no mood to talk about her wedding with the father of my mates. “Do you have an idea of Lady Martha?” My mother went further, while I feigned a smile and nodded my head. “She made the dress! It’s so beautiful!” My mother gushed in excitement while I narrowed my gaze to Ryan, who was currently rolling his eyes at my mother. “We really can’t wait to see you become our father’s wife”, Eric suddenly said, startling me with his loud baritone voice. “Especially when you are as beautiful as your sweet daughter”, Blaze said and winked at me. My stomach twirled in excitement as I gulped down hard and quickly focused my gaze on the foot on the table. Just then, Ryan dropped his fork and coughed slightly. He scanned the room with his gaze, after which his eyes fell on me. “Is there something you wish to tell the alpha?” Ryan suddenly asked me and for a moment, I thought that I had only heard wrongly. I shifted uncomfortably on my seat as I stared at Nathan and the others. Nathan was shocked to his bones as well and tried using his eyes to ask Ryan to keep mute. “What? Why are you all gazing at me as though I’m only blabbing? Nathan, don’t you have something to tell your father and your stepmother?” Ryan continued, creating tension and making the air to suddenly become hot and airtight. “Ryan! Would you keep mute and focus on the food you’ve got on your table?” Nathan said defiantly while I wiped off the beads of sweats that had formed on my head. Never did I think or imagine that Ryan would bring something this severe up during the family dinner. “You don’t have to cover up, dear brother! Don’t you think father needs to know the series of events that happened in the past few days?” Ryan taunted, peering piercingly into Nathan’s eyes. My heart was thumping heavily as I gulped down the last set of spit I could find in my mouth. My throat was constricted and for a moment, not a single word could come off my mouth. “Nathan, Evelyn, Ryan…what is going on?” The Lycan King asked as he looked at the three of us with a questioning gaze. My mother was not out of it either. She seemed to be shocked by Ryan’s outburst, and all she could do was stare at me searching for answers. “Evelyn, did something happen?” She finally asked with a soft voice that made my heart drop. Countless things had happened, and it was hurtful to realize that I was currently hiding them from her. I smiled at her calmly and shook my head negatively. “It’s nothing, Dad! Ryan is just being playful and unnecessarily paranoid. I mean, he is probably yet to accept Evelyn and her mother”, Nathan explained while trying to sound firm and truthful. The Lycan king took in a deep breath, after which he caressed my mother’s hands lovingly. “It’s fine. Eventually, he would love you both”, he said in an assuring manner, and I couldn’t help but feel excited for my mother. The Lycan King was the best man she would ever find. But still, I feared for my life… “Father! I have something to say, and I won’t keep mute about it anymore”, Ryan suddenly announced and immediately, my heart dropped in shock.
