Lily pulled up in front of Club Venus. She exclaimed loudly and giggled while doing a little dance on her car seat. Daisy looked at her and smiled lightly. She was nervous.
"Are you ready to paint the whole night red?" Lily asked, and Daisy managed to nod and sighed.
"If you’re nervous, it’s okay. Don’t worry, just let yourself loose and you’ll enjoy it. Forget about Romeo."
"I’m not thinking about Romeo," Daisy said harshly and muttered a quiet "sorry" before looking outside at people lining up at the club entrance.
Lily looked at Daisy and smiled. She wanted to say something but thought better of it.
"Okay, tell me when you’re ready. Pat is waiting for us inside."
Daisy looked at her and nodded. "I’m ready, thanks," she said while opening her side door and stepping out.
"Why didn’t you tell me that Pat will be here?" she asked Lily while smoothing her dress.
Lily came to her side and snapped a few selfies before leading the way to the club. "I forgot to tell you," Lily said as they stood behind seven people who were waiting for their turn to be searched by the bouncers.Music was pounding from the club as they approached the entrance. One of the bouncer checked their ID cards and the other one searched their bags.
"Thanks," Lily said to the bouncer after he nodded at them, signaling they could enter the club.
Inside, the club was dazzling. Gold lights glowed softly, reflecting off the shiny floors. Plush couches lined the walls, and well-dressed people sipped champagne, laughing quietly. The bass from the DJ booth thumped through the room, making Daisy’s chest vibrate. A waiter passed by with sparkling drinks, and the air smelled faintly of perfume and expensive cologne. Everywhere she looked, the place screamed luxury.
"Wow," Daisy whispered, glancing at Lily.
"Told you it’s amazing," Lily said, grinning. She led Daisy deeper into the club, weaving through the crowd toward Pat.
Daisy was astonished by the luxurious interior of the club.It was not her first time in a club, but it was definitely her first time at a five star club. She followed Lily while mesmerized by everything her eyes came across.
Lily led Daisy to a small table near the front, directly facing the VIP section, which was slightly raised on a platform across the room. They reached at the table and Pat was already there and he had already ordereď drinks for them.Lily kissed Pat and sat on his lap while Daisy sat opposite them.
From her seat, Daisy could see velvet-rope booths filled with glamorous guests, sipping champagne and watching the dance floor below. She leaned back slightly, astonished by the luxury and the crowd’s energy.
"Hello Daisy, long time."Patrick greeted Daisy and she smiled giving him all her attention."I'm doing well Pat, Yes it's been long for sure. How are you doing."
Before Pat could reply Lily screamed and jumped off Pat’s lap. "My favorite song!" she shouted, pulling him toward the dance floor.
Daisy watched them, a small smile tugging at her lips. The crowd moved around the pulsing lights, and the bass from the DJ booth made the floor vibrate under her feet. Lily grabbed Pat’s hand, spinning him with effortless energy, and soon they were laughing and dancing in the middle of the crowd.
Daisy stayed at their table for a moment, astonished by the carefree joy around her. She sipped her drink, letting the music wash over her, and found herself tapping her foot to the beat. For the first time that night, she felt a little of her nervousness fade.
Daisy continued sipping her drink, and something told her to glance at the VIP section. When she did, cold, empty eyes were staring at her, as if studying her. She looked behind her, thinking maybe he wasn’t staring at her—but no, the man’s gaze was fixed solely on her.
Her heart raced, and she set her drink down. She stared back at the VIP section, but the man was already gone. Daisy thought maybe she had imagined it.
Her thoughts drifted to her conversation with Romeo, and before she knew it, she was drinking more wine. She didn’t know the name of the wine, but she loved the bitter aftertaste. The alcohol started to warm her, and a slight dizziness made her feel lightheaded. Lily and Pat were still on the dance floor, laughing and spinning to the music.
Feeling her bladder tighten, she stood and began looking for the washroom. After some awkward bantering with a few drunk patrons and a brief check by the bouncers, she finally found it and relieved herself.after using the washroom Daisy washed her hands and exited the washroom, only to stumble into a hard wall.
She muttered "sorry" but laughed, realizing she was speaking to a wall, only she wasn’t. When she looked up, the same cold eyes from the VIP section were now staring down at her.
"Ohh," Daisy said, giggling. The man didn’t say anything, he just looked at her. Daisy touched the man’s chest with her long nails and gasped when he touched her hand to remove it. Her gasp made him pause, and his hands lingered on hers instead of pulling away.
"Ohh, here you are," Lily said from behind the man, making him turn and leave without saying a word.
"I was looking for you. Are you alright?" Lily asked. Daisy nodded, still staring in the direction the man had gone.
"Okay then let's go back if you are done here."
Daisy followed Lily back, but instead of going to their seats, she went to the bar area alone while Lily proceed to the dance floor.
She ordered a drink but froze when she heard a voice behind her,
"No alcohol for her. Give her bottled water." She turned and saw the same man.
"Now I really think you’re obsessed with me. What are you doing here?" Daisy asked, her voice slightly slurred from the wine.
"Rowan," the man said.
"Huh?" Daisy blinked, looking at the man who had now sat beside her.
"I said my name is Rowan," he repeated.
"Oh… I—I’m Daisy," she stammered, biting her tongue to stop herself from rambling.
Rowan smiled at her, and Daisy could swear her world was ending. His smile was the most beautiful she had ever seen—even though it didn’t reach his eyes.
"Cute smile," Daisy said, quickly covering her mouth with her palm. "I mean… sorry, I didn’t mean to—uh… it’s just… you have a really nice smile. And… and you’re really handsome."
Rowan smiled again, and this time Daisy could not control her mouth.
"I would really kiss you right now… even marry you. I swear I could carry your babies and I’d be a happy wife."
Rowan laughed, and the bartender looked at him, shocked.
He looked at Daisy as if she were the only person in the whole club.
Daisy shyly looked at Rowan and tried to stand up, but since she was drunk, she nearly fell,Rowan was quick to hold her in place.
"Ouch!" Daisy winced loudly, causing Rowan to check on her immediately. "Are you hurt?" he asked, but Daisy laughed and removed herself from his arms.
"I’m not hurt, but I think you have electricity in you. My body reacted to your touch, and I swear I’ve never reacted like this, even when Romeo touched me b—"
Before she could finish, Rowan looked down at her, no smile, his eyes dark.
"Who is Romeo?" he asked, and Daisy was taken aback.
"Romeo is my boyfriend… oh no, he was my boyfriend, until he talked s**t about me and dumped my fat ass."
Rowan’s eyes softened. "You’re not a fat ass. You’re beautiful, curvy, and radiant. Romeo is a douchebag, and I hate him."Rowan’s eyes flicked over her from head to toe. "That pink dress… it’s almost criminal how good it looks on you," he said, his voice low and teasing. "I don’t know how anyone else is supposed to compete with this."
Daisy blushed. "But you don’t know Romeo."
"I don’t care."Rowan said his voice was low and gravely.
Daisy took a moment to look at Rowan. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and strong without being bulky. His dark shirt hugged his chest perfectly, showing just enough muscle, and his black tailored pants fit him like they were made for him. Even his polished shoes and the way he stood ,calm, confident, magnetic made her heart skip. Every detail, from his slightly tousled hair to the set of his shoulders, screamed handsome and dangerous. She really was drawn to him and she could not hide it.
"Let's get out of here. I’m wearing lingerie… I can show you if you want," Daisy said, her voice teasing. Rowan looked at her and said, "You’re drunk."
Daisy giggled, leaning closer so her fingers lightly brushed his arm. "I’m not drunk. I’m sober… and I really want to see you without clothes," she added, a mischievous smile curving her lips.
"No," Rowan said sternly, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes. Daisy stared at him as if he had just taken her candy.
"Oh, come on," she teased, tilting her head, "don’t tell me you’re scared of me. I promise I won’t bite… much."
Rowan’s lips twitched, almost like a smile, but his eyes stayed dark. "You’re bold," he said, low and serious. "Too bold."
"Bold is my middle name," Daisy shot back, letting her gaze wander down his chest for just a second before meeting his eyes again. "Or maybe… I just like to see your reaction."
Rowan’s hand brushed hers, almost by accident—or maybe not. Daisy felt the electricity jump between them and leaned even closer. "You know… I could be persuaded to change your mind," she whispered, her voice softer, almost teasing, almost daring.
"I don’t get persuaded easily," he murmured, leaning toward her, his gaze intense. "And you… you don’t scare me. Not yet."
"Not yet?" Daisy giggled, leaning back slightly, eyes sparkling. "Careful, Rowan. I might take that as a challenge."
Rowan’s jaw tightened, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. "Don’t make me regret this," he warned, his voice low and gravelly. Then, after a beat, he leaned slightly closer, gripping her hand firmly. "Come on. Upstairs. Before you change your mind."
Daisy’s heart skipped, and she couldn’t help biting her lip. "I’m not changing my mind," she said, still holding his gaze. Rowan gave a half-smile, half-smirk, and took her hand, pulling her toward the stairs.
