Victor and I had tried to get a few hours’ sleep following the events of the previous night, but sleep just didn't come. We lay in each other's arms for hours on the hospital bed, in silence, as we both comforted each other. My heart was broken and torn between mourning for my pups, and for my best friend. The only solace I found was the thought that I might see my pups again.
