Hannah once believed that loving the right man would be enough to build a perfect life.

She was wrong.

Five years after marrying Adrian Vale, the man she had trusted with everything turned against her. Her husband chose another woman, the people she called family turned their backs on her, and even her own son was taught to call another woman Mommy.

Then Hannah died with one question still unanswered.

Why had they wanted her dead?

But death gave her something she never expected.

A second chance.

She opened her eyes five years in the past, back when she was twenty three and Adrian Vale was still the man she believed she would spend the rest of her life with.

This time, Hannah remembers every mistake she made.

She remembers the people who humiliated her.

She remembers the friends who betrayed her.

She remembers the man she once loved.

And she remembers the night she died.

But instead of accepting Adrian's proposal and walking blindly into the same future, Hannah makes a different choice.

She chooses herself.

She accepts a position at Blackstone Enterprises, one of the most powerful companies in the city, determined to build a life that doesn't depend on the Vale family.

But Blackstone is not an ordinary company.

Behind its polished walls are secrets, dangerous business dealings, and a chairman whose influence reaches far beyond the boardroom.

He is powerful.

Cold.

Untouchable.

And unlike everyone Hannah knew in her first life, he doesn't treat her like Adrian Vale's future wife.

He sees her as Hannah.

As she begins uncovering pieces of a mystery she never understood in her first life, Hannah realizes that changing her future may have consequences she never expected.

Adrian begins noticing that the woman he thought he knew is changing.

The people who once underestimated her begin to fear her.

And the more Hannah learns, the more she realizes that her death may have been connected to something much bigger than a failed marriage.

She thought she had been given a second chance to escape her past.

Perhaps she was given one to uncover the truth.

This time, Hannah won't beg to be loved.

She won't surrender her future for someone else's happiness.

And she certainly won't become the woman who died five years ago.

They thought they knew Hannah Vale.

They were wrong.

This time, she knows them.

PROLOGUE
The night I died, my husband was celebrating another woman. Rain hammered against the windows of the Hawthorne estate, turning the gardens outside into a blur of silver and black. Thunder shook the glass, but it could not drown out the laughter coming from the ballroom downstairs. My laughter had once belonged in that room. Tonight, it belonged to her. I stood barefoot at the top of the staircase, one trembling hand wrapped around the railing, staring down at the man I had spent five years loving. Adrian Vale. My husband. The man who had once promised me that I was the only woman he would ever need. He stood beneath the crystal chandelier in a perfectly tailored black suit, one arm wrapped around another woman's waist. Emily Laurent. The woman who had spent the last three years pretending to be my friend, the woman whose diamond necklace had been bought with my husband's money, and the woman who was now wearing my emerald earrings. And she was smiling. Not the nervous smile of a guilty woman, but the confident smile of someone who already knew she had won. My fingers tightened around the railing as I watched them. Then a small voice reached me from the ballroom, a voice that once would have made my heart ache with happiness. "Mommy!" I looked down. My son, Noah, was running toward Emily with a bright smile on his little face. He was four years old, wearing the tiny black suit I had chosen for him that morning. His dark hair was neatly combed, and his cheeks were flushed with excitement. In his small hands, he held a red rose. He ran straight past me, straight past his real mother, and into Emily's waiting arms. "Mommy!" he cried again. Emily bent down and hugged him tightly, pressing a kiss against his forehead. "There's my handsome boy." Something inside my chest cracked. Noah was my son. I had carried him for nine months. I had stayed awake through countless nights when he was sick. I had held him when he took his first steps, heard his first words, kissed every scraped knee, and wiped every tear. Yet he called another woman Mommy. I had noticed it months ago. At first, Adrian told me Noah was confused. Then he told me I was being overly sensitive. Eventually, he stopped answering whenever I asked why our son was becoming more attached to Emily. Tonight, I finally understood. This had never been an accident. They had been replacing me. "She's finally here." The voice came from behind me. I turned to find my mother-in-law standing several steps away, her expression cold and satisfied. Eleanor Vale had never wanted me as her daughter-in-law. I had been too ordinary for her family, too insignificant and too foolish to understand the world of the Vales. She had spent five years reminding me of it. Tonight, however, she looked almost pleased to see me. "Go downstairs," she said quietly. "Your husband has something to tell you." Something in her voice made my stomach twist. I descended the stairs slowly, forcing myself to keep my head high even though my legs felt weak. Every step felt heavier than the last. When I entered the ballroom, the conversations stopped, and hundreds of eyes turned toward me. Family members, business associates, friends, people who had attended my wedding and watched me build a life with Adrian were now watching me walk toward the destruction of that life. Adrian finally looked at me. There was no guilt in his eyes. No regret. Only impatience. "Hannah." My name sounded like an inconvenience coming from his lips. I stopped in front of him and glanced toward Noah, who was still sitting happily in Emily's arms. "What's going on?" I asked. Emily leaned closer to Adrian, her fingers resting possessively against his chest. I stared at her hand before looking back at him. "Take your hand off my husband." Emily laughed softly. Adrian did not move. Instead, he looked at me with an expression I had never seen before. "You still call me your husband?" My heart stopped. "What?" He reached into his pocket and pulled out a document. A divorce agreement. He held it between us. "Sign it." For several seconds, I couldn't breathe. The room seemed to disappear around me. The music, the laughter, the rain, even the people staring at me became distant. "Why?" It was the only word I could force out. Adrian's jaw tightened. "Because I don't love you anymore." I looked at the man I had married, the man whose favorite coffee I remembered, whose shirts I folded, whose schedule I knew by heart, and whom I had waited for every night when he came home late. He was the man I had defended when everyone warned me that marrying into the Vale family would destroy me. "You don't love me anymore?" He looked away. "Emily is pregnant." A collective murmur swept through the ballroom. My eyes moved toward her. Emily placed one hand over her stomach, her expression soft and innocent, while her other arm remained wrapped around my son. Noah looked at her with complete trust. "I didn't want you to find out this way," Emily whispered. I almost laughed. Almost. Instead, I felt something inside me break. I looked at Noah again. He was playing with the buttons on Emily's dress, completely unaware of what was happening around him. "Does he know?" I whispered. Adrian frowned. "Know what?" "That she's not his mother." Silence. Emily's expression changed for the first time. Noah looked toward me. "Mommy Hannah?" My heart shattered at the sound of my name. Before I could reach him, Emily pulled him closer. "It's all right, sweetheart. Come to Mommy." Mommy. That word destroyed me more than Adrian's confession ever could. I looked at Adrian through tears. "You let this happen." He said nothing. "You let our son call her Mommy." "Hannah, don't make a scene." A bitter laugh escaped me. "A scene? You brought your pregnant mistress into our home, let our son believe she was his mother, and you're divorcing me in front of your entire family. What exactly would you call this?" I looked around the ballroom. My eyes landed on Adrian's younger brother, Daniel. He immediately lowered his gaze. Then I saw my best friend, Clara, standing near the windows. She refused to look at me. One by one, I realized the truth. They all knew. Everyone knew except me. My husband had been cheating. His family had been hiding it. My closest friend had known. And somehow, they had even convinced my own son to call another woman Mommy. Tonight, they had gathered to humiliate me. Then Adrian spoke again. "There is one more thing." He placed another document on the table. My blood ran cold. "What's that?" "The company." I stared at him. "My father's will gave you temporary control of Hawthorne Holdings because you were my wife. Once the divorce is finalized, that control returns to the family." I shook my head. "No." Adrian's expression hardened. "You never belonged in this family, Hannah." The words cut deeper than the divorce. I looked at him through tears. "I gave you everything." "And that's exactly why this has to end." A strange silence followed. Then someone screamed. The glass in my hand shattered. I looked down and saw blood running across my palm. I hadn't even realized I was still holding the champagne glass. Adrian walked toward me. For one foolish second, I thought he might comfort me. Instead, he leaned close enough for only me to hear. "You should have stayed quiet." I froze. "What does that mean?" His face changed. For the first time that night, I saw fear in his eyes. Not for me. For himself. Before I could ask another question, a sharp pain exploded in my chest. I stumbled backward as the room spun violently around me. My lungs refused to work, and my vision began to blur. Someone had drugged me. My knees buckled. As I fell, I heard Emily whisper something. "She knows." Then Adrian's voice answered, cold and final. "She won't for long." My body hit the floor. The chandelier above me blurred into a thousand pieces of light. Someone rushed toward me. Someone shouted for an ambulance. Somewhere in the distance, I heard Noah crying. "Mommy!" I tried to reach for him. My fingers moved weakly against the floor, desperate to touch him one last time. But Adrian stood perfectly still, watching me die, while Emily held my son in her arms. My last thought was not about revenge. It was not even about Adrian. It was a question. What had I discovered that they were so desperate to hide? Then everything went black. I thought that was the end. I was wrong. When I opened my eyes again, sunlight poured through white curtains. I gasped and immediately grabbed my chest. No pain. No blood. No shattered glass. I sat upright, breathing heavily as I stared around the room. It was familiar. Too familiar. My childhood bedroom. My eyes moved toward the mirror across from my bed. The woman looking back at me was twenty-three years old. Young. Alive. Untouched by the five years of betrayal that had destroyed her. My hands began to tremble. "No..." I stumbled toward the calendar on the desk. My heart stopped. The date was five years earlier. Three years before I met Emily. Two years before my wedding. The morning I was supposed to accept Adrian Vale's proposal. I stared at my reflection, unable to understand how this was possible. Then slowly, a smile touched my lips. It was not the same smile I had worn in my first life. This one carried something colder, something sharper, something that had been born in the moment I died. "They thought they buried me," I whispered to my reflection. "They were wrong." I had been a foolish wife once. I had begged for love. I had trusted people who deserved nothing from me. I had allowed them to take my family, my marriage, my future, and eventually my life. They had even taken my son's love and given it to another woman. But they had made one mistake. They had given me another chance. A second life. This time, I would not become Adrian Vale's obedient wife. I would not blindly trust Emily. This time, I would uncover every secret, find the person who drugged me, discover why they had been so desperate to silence me, and take back everything they had stolen from me. Including my son. And if Adrian Vale wanted a queen beside him so badly, then I would become one. Just not the queen he expected. This time, I would wear the crown with my head held high. Because the woman who returned from the dead would not beg for her husband's love. She would destroy his entire kingdom.
