CHAPTER ONE :THE BETRAYAL The private jet’s door opened, and Yulin stepped out, her long hair brushing against the soft wind. Cameras flashed from a distance paparazzi always seemed to know when the city’s favorite model returned. She slid her sunglasses on, lips curving into that confident smile that had once graced every billboard in Shantel City. Her driver rushed forward to open the door of her sleek white Maserati while her PA, Chante, hurried to take her bags. “Welcome back, boss!” Chante beamed. Yulin tilted her head, amused. “You look too happy. Did you enjoy the peace while I was gone?” Chante giggled. “I missed you, boss. Really. Though... next time, maybe you could take me along.” “Liar,” Yulin teased softly, sliding into the backseat. “You’d run from boredom in a day.” As the car pulled away, Chante flipped through her tablet. “Boss, your schedule is packed with interviews, fittings, and a Vogue cover shoot” Yulin groaned dramatically. “Oh God, not yet. Can’t I breathe for one day?” “I’m afraid not,” Chante teased. “The internet’s been starving without you.” Yulin smirked. “Let them starve. I missed my husband more than the cameras.” “Here we go,” Chante sighed playfully. “Lovebird hours again.” They both laughed as the Maserati glided through the glowing city. Yulin’s name lit up the billboards The City Princess. The youngest top model in the fashion world, admired by millions, yet her heart belonged to one man: Bryant Stanley ,CEO of Vectus Company, her husband, her pride, her everything. The ride home felt endless. Yulin stared out the window, her reflection glowing against the glass. Two weeks away in Meridian had been peaceful, but she couldn’t wait to be home to see him. When the car finally stopped in front of their mansion, her heart fluttered. “Two weeks away felt like forever,” she whispered, stepping out gracefully. The mansion was too quiet. “Bryant?” she called softly, walking into the marbled foyer. No answer. She frowned. “He knew I’d be back today.” Before Yulin could reply, Chante’s phone buzzed. Her face paled. “Boss…” Yulin sighed. “Please, not work right now. I just want to …..” “Boss, you need to see this.” Chante’s voice trembled. Reluctantly, Yulin took the phone. The screen flashed with a trending post from CelebrityFeed Online: > BREAKING NEWS: CEO of Vectus Company, Bryant Lee, caught in a leaked video with top model Mitchelle.. Yulin’s heartbeat stopped. Her hand trembled as she clicked the video. And there it was. Bryant, her husband, the man she had defended, built, and loved. Mitchelle, her best friend, her bridesmaid, her sister in everything but blood. They were together. Under the same silk sheets she had picked. Their laughter, their moans filled the room through her screen. The phone slipped from Yulin’s hand and shattered against the marble floor. Chante gasped, bending to pick it up. But Yulin didn’t move. Her eyes stared forward blankly, unreadable. The room spun, and the world outside felt distant. Only the sound of her pulse remained steady, slow, dangerous. “Boss…” Chante whispered, voice thick with pity. Yulin finally blinked. “Turn it off.” “Boss, I ….” “Turn. It. Off.” Her voice was calm, but her tone could slice glass. Silence. The video stopped. She exhaled slowly, her voice breaking the stillness. “Mitchelle… you really outdid yourself this time.” Her reflection in the glass smiled faintly, but it wasn’t joy. It was fury disguised as calm. Memories flooded her the night she first met Bryant, how he’d been a struggling entrepreneur with a half-formed dream and a collapsing company. She’d been the one to believe in him when no investor would. She remembered designing his company’s first public campaign, staying up for nights to help him write proposals, using her fame to pull sponsors, leveraging her influence to bring attention to his brand. She had walked red carpets wearing his company’s logo before it even had a name. She had turned down offers worth millions because he asked her to. She wanted their empire, not just hers. And this was her reward. Her best friend is in her bed. Her husband is in a scandal that would ruin them both. A bitter laugh slipped from her lips, soft and broken. “I built your world, Bryant. Brick by brick.” Her hand clenched at her side, nails biting into her palm. “And you tore it down for a night of pleasure.” Chante’s voice trembled. “Boss, I … I’m so sorry. Do you want me to call your lawyer? The PR team?” Yulin turned slowly, her expression unreadable. “No.” “But the media ” “I said no.” Chante fell silent. Yulin picked up her sunglasses and slid them back on, masking her emotions beneath that perfect, emotionless face. “If he wants a show, I’ll give him one.” Her tone was chilling, calm, confident, deadly. She walked past Chante, heels striking the floor like gunshots. Outside, the cameras still waited, flashes eager to capture the returning queen. Yulin paused by the door, whispering just loud enough for Chante to hear. “Let’s see how the world reacts… when the City Princess stops smiling.” And with that, she stepped out straight into the blinding lights.
