Chapter 3: The Whispering Forest

483 Words
The first light of dawn spread across the Kingdom of Eldoria, but Kael could not rest. The strange symbol on his hand still glowed faintly, as if it carried a secret older than the stars themselves. The words of the Herald echoed in his mind: "Your fate is broken, but your destiny has only begun." Kael stood on the balcony of the royal castle, staring toward the distant mountains. Somewhere beyond them lay the Shadow Realm—the prison of the ancient Shadow King. Footsteps approached behind him. "You're leaving, aren't you?" Mira asked softly. Kael turned and nodded. "If the Shadow King is awakening, I need answers. I can't let darkness consume this world." Ren stepped forward with a grin. "Then you won't be going alone." King Valen entered the chamber, carrying an old map made from faded parchment. He spread it across a table. "There is a place called the Whispering Forest," the king said. "Long ago, the Guardians of Fate hid a sacred crystal there. It is known as the Crystal of Light. It may reveal the truth about your power." Kael looked at the map carefully. Deep inside the forest was a mark shaped like an eye. "The forest is dangerous," King Valen warned. "Many who enter hear voices from the past and lose their way." Without hesitation, Kael, Mira, and Ren began their journey. For two days they traveled across rivers, hills, and ancient ruins. At sunset on the third day, they finally reached the Whispering Forest. The trees were enormous, their branches twisting like giant hands. Strange silver mist covered the ground, and faint whispers floated through the air. "Do you hear that?" Mira whispered. Kael listened carefully. A voice called his name. "Kael..." He turned, but no one was there. The deeper they walked into the forest, the louder the whispers became. Ren suddenly stopped. "I hear my father," he said quietly. Mira looked frightened. "I hear my mother." Kael clenched his fist. He heard a voice he had never heard before—a woman speaking gently. "My son... follow the light." A beam of golden light appeared between the trees. The three friends followed it until they reached an ancient temple hidden deep within the forest. At its center floated a glowing crystal. But before Kael could touch it, the ground shook violently. Dark shadows rose from the earth, taking the form of giant warriors with burning red eyes. A cold laugh echoed through the temple. "Hahaha... So, the child of Broken Fate has arrived." From the darkness stepped a mysterious figure wearing black armor and a silver mask. "I am Darius, servant of the Shadow King," he said. "And none of you shall leave this place alive." Kael drew his sword as dark energy filled the air. The battle for the Crystal of Light was about to begin. To be continued in Chapter 4...
