Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Elowen's Pov
Different thoughts swirled my mind as I stride slowly to the Principal's office, I wished the journey was longer but in no time I was standing before Mr Clark's office with a pounding heart and a sudden migraine that made my hands sweaty and cold.
Did they finally find out about my identity, do they kill rogues over here, didn't I conceal my scent well before coming to school today? Wait, I thought the scent concealer lasted for a month before renewal so why the hell am I being summoned on the first day of the week? I didn't even have a single time to teach the students yet.
I muttered some words of prayer to the Moon goddess to save me as she's always done, just as she's saved me from the mass destruction of my Pack years ago, leaving me as the only survivor.
I took a deep breath and pushed the door open, Mr Clark's cologne filled the office and I walked towards the table.
“I received your email sir.” I told him and was surprised at how professional I sounded instead of a helpless shaky voice in trouble.
“Yes Miss Smith, please have a seat” He tells me jovialy and I relaxed a bit before sitting down. His office was something made out of rich cedar and splash of silver. That's the thing about Elite Celestial Royal Academy, the school wasn't just beautiful, it was flooded with wealth and beauty and a bunch of spoilt brats she had to take in as students.
“So…” he cleared his throat and flipped through some files before bringing out a brown one and passed it to me. “There's been an offer by a very powerful person and I know you're perfect for the job, I know how well you relate with your students despite the shallow upbringing and difficulties they give, you make it seem simple.” He tells me but I wasn't buying any of that, I don't even understand what this means?
An appointment approval to be a personal tutor?
“I…I didn't apply for this?” I told Mr Clark who nodded.
“I know, it's a privilege for our school to have receive this letter, every year, we picked the best teacher to tutor the Alpha's daughter and you happen to be the best. It's no big deal.” He tells me and I froze on my sit with my eyes dilating in shock.
The Alpha's daughter?
How on earth does he think it's possible? I've been having a hard time concealing my scent around people how much more an Alpha?
Once he sense that I'm a rogue, he's going to kill me. I don't want this, I'm happy being a teacher in an Elite school like this, as getting here was a miracle. Mum said I won't get accepted because only Pack members enjoyed the privilege of working there but I was willing to try, I needed to give them a better life. I wanted them to stop traveling to far places in the cold and storm to get supplies they end up selling for peanuts.
The same supplies that led them to me the day I was running away, crying for my dead parents who was brutally murdered by the Lycan King's men in my Pack. It's now called DeadFang Pack as no one exists there anymore, they defiled the Lycan King by stealing his Jade Key to get his safe, I don't know if my parents were aware but they kept quiet about it until the day we were suddenly raided in rage, asking for the key. I was so small and confused, naive about what the hell was happening until I saw fire and my instincts told me to run.
I ran with bruises and pain in my heart, hid in the woods for days until the travellers saw me, others saw me and passed like I was a hindrance to their success but theses ones didn't do that.
They coerced me to follow them and I did, lived with them and they took care of me as a parents would care for their child but I had a rule to keep, hiding my scents as rogues were not accepted or welcome in any Pack. Even my dead Pack will slaughter them to the ground at first sight, we call them a bad omen , a bad luck and should be exiled immediately.
“I don't want to do this Mr Clark.” I told the Principal who stared at me like I was bluffing and didn't have a say in this.
“I know few colleagues of mine who are very good and will be willing to take an opportunity like this but –”
“Think about it, you don't need to rush. You won't resume till next week so you have all the week to reflect about it. The pay is wonderful, it's just a little young girl and you'll receive a lot of incentives.” I chuckled bitterly at his words and I wished it was that easy, I wished I was a member of the pack then I would accept in a blink.
“Mr Clark, I can't accept this please…I'm barely six months here and lack experience to do this effectively.” I reminded him about that and he shook his head and lean back on his chair.
“I chose you for a reason, go back to your students and get back to me later.” He said dismissively and I fought the ache in my chest while I stood up and retreated to the staff room but Eloise, my close friend, was already on my desk and she frowned when she saw me.
“You look like s**t, what happened? Miguel told me you went to see Mr Clark, it isn't that bad, is it?” She stood up and I sank down on my seat dejectedly. I don't trust her but I was close to her than anyone, she doesn't know my secret about being a rogue, or how I walk down to the next Pack on foot so I'll be able to keep any money that comes in the day in order to feed and help my parents and she doesn't care, meanwhile…I know everything about her like a transparent cup.
“Yeah, I did and no, it's not that bad. I'm just scared Louise.” I tell her sincerely and wonder if I should tell her the truth, if she knows anything about her Alpha and if he might catch a rogue scent and kill me on the spot rendering me useless.
“Then why are you looking this way, you're getting me worried.”
“He wants me to tutor the Alpha's daughter starting from next week, I don't want to leave so soon yet…it's barely–” I stopped talking when I noticed all colour drain from her face.
“The Alpha, Our Alpha?” She asked me again and I nodded, ignoring the heavy pounding in my chest.
“That's the worst thing ever, I can't believe he asked you to go.” Her voice is becoming shaky and she's suddenly avoiding my gaze
“Eloise? What's wrong?”
“Everything is wrong, Alpha Kade is a blood thirsty egoistical bastard who speaks with his gun and swords, you won't survive a day if you go there and talk more about teaching his bratty daughter?” She tells me and ignites the fear which crashes down all hope I had in mind.
“What do I do? I can't just ignore this, Clark wasn't ready to listen to my excuses and I still need the job.” I lamented worriedly and she twitched her lips while shaking her head in disapproval.
“What you'll do is run, you don't need the job anymore.”
“What does that mean?” I frowned at her sudden dismissal and what she dropped made me shiver.
“Because no tutor taken from this school has returned back, they never come back because he ends up killing them all.”
