CHAPTER 6
Elowen’s Pov
“If you tell anyone about this, he'll have you killed Elowen. Don't even let the Alpha think Valencia isn't studying, just try your best to make sure she passes and anything else is solved.” Marie told me this afternoon after a long day of trying to get Valencia to listen to me for once. It's so annoying that she's a spoilt little brat with the eyes of her father and won't just freaking sit down for once.
“What do I do? It's obvious she's not ready to learn.” I asked Marie who suddenly went still like ice and I frowned when she was looking directly above me.
“Who isn't ready to learn?” Kade's voice sent tremors down my spine, I turned sharply and there he was, cladded with nothing but streaks of blood stained in his skin like he just had a fresh kill.
I opened my mouth to talk but no words came out until he c****d his head.
“My cat.” I blurted out the lie easily and Marie murmured an apology and excused us.
“uhmm….my cat has refused to learn how to be active.” He stared at me like he's trying to unveil the truth out of me and my heart thump faster than normal.
“And how is Valencia coping with the recent tutorials?” He asked, walking past me and I bit my lips hard and prayed for the goddess to help my life.
“She's picking up Alpha, she's very intelligent and super smart.” He nodded with that hint of pride and that moment someone I never knew I could ever meet in entire life walked in, she's part of the Dead Fang Pack and was my best friend before the war with the Lycans happened, I was so shameless in excitement that I literally had to rushed to her but she walked past me like I didn't exist. Elena and I were childhood friends and I would recognise her in a blink so why was she acting that way?
Kade must have noticed my reaction and c****d his head at me.
“You know her?”
I shook my head immediately and apologised, “I'll be on my way Alpha.” I told him and turned to leave.
“Not so fast Elowen, you didn't undergo a test meant to be qualified for my daughter's tutor.” My heart beat faster than normal and everything began to spin in twos. What sort of test was that?
“Test?’ I asked again to he sure and he nodded. “Follow me…. We make sure to conduct it on everyone who comes in here to be sure they're not rogue and your lack of scent is one reason why you should undergo this test, what do you think?” He asked me again and I avoided that dark eyes, I avoided the expanse of his body which he displayed shamelessly.
“Elena will guide you through the process, I'll be right back” He told me and left leaving me to ponder on what the hell I've just signed into. Elena came through with a blank stare and walked past me and I followed her. We went to a room and this time, it wasn't dark or weird like the one I saw last time.
She won't smile or blink at me and it was making me feel uneasy.
“You have to drink this first.” She told me and looked at the cup with disdain.
“What's that?”
“I can't tell you, that's just the process to be sure you're one of us and didn't come with any harmful intentions.” I scoffed.
“Look at me Elena, tell me what the hell is going on here? How did you escape? Why are you working with someone like Alpha Kade and why the hell is he so weird?" I asked her and she won't say anything, still presenting the cup to me like a child.
“I won't drink that, there's no need.” I told her and grabbed a seat, thinking of how to escape a place like this, first it was Marie who warned me not to let the Alpha know about his daughter's misconduct and now it's my best friend who I practically thought was dead, living as a maid in his house and pretending not to know me.
I'm done.
I can't do this anymore and I need to leave, I can try leaving than die staying here to impress the world.
“You have to drink this Elowen.” I turned sharply at her and glared.
“So you know who I am?”
“You don't expect me to jump on you right away and scream right? That would be too much information to give way to the Alpha.” She told me and I groaned.
“Then what's going on, how did you escape and end up working here.” She gave that wry smile and wiped her tears.
“It's a long story but I'll advice you to leave here if you can Elowen, you can't teach that girl. She ends up making everyone dead.”
She tells me and my fear intensifies more than ever, I can't just leave. I don't have anywhere to go.
“How do I make her listen to me? I can't go back, I don't have anyone and my parents don't have much. I have to make this work.” I asked desperately and she shook her head.
“It's not possible, tell the Alpha you're sick. He hates it when people are sick around Valencia. He might give you a go ahead to leave, then do it and don't come back, because if you stay and she fails? You might die.. I'm lucky to be working here but I won't be for long. Alpha Kade is friends with the Lycan King who still wants everyone dead for what they did to him.” She reminded me and dropped the cup, leaving me to face my dilemma. I made it this far to survive, not to die like nothing.
So I left the room without taking any drink and did what I never imagined myself to be doing, going to confront Alpha Kade.
His room was adjacent to Valencia's so it was easy for me to trace, I made sure to knock and ring the bell severally before stepping inside. All self confidence flew out of the door the moment I saw him, his back faced me and this time he wasn't naked but draped in a towel.
“Get the dress immediately I need to visit Cairo, he told me he's seen another Pack of DeadFangs who were hiding in a hidden territory” he says casually like he's talking to his friend and my body shook like ice, that's my Pack.
I glanced at the bed and saw a shirt so I took it and stretched it to him, he grabbed it without saying a word or turning to me.
I took the neatly ironed trousers as well and stretched behind him and he took it
“My black watch.” He blurted out and my eyes did a movement in the room, luckily for me, it was on the shelf and I took it as well and this time around he turned, his face was stoic and blank, it made me gulp and shift backwards.
“What the f**k are you doing here?” He asked calmly, he wasn't angry but he was curious and surprised by my presence in the room.
“I came…I came to see you Alpha, I don't think I…” He came dangerously close to me until I couldn't breathe.
“I think I know exactly what you want, Elowen, enough of the teasing. Get on the bed now.” My eyes went wide in shock as I shook my head.
“Don't let me repeat myself, Bed…now!” He ordered with a growl.
