"Ryan is handsome, thoughtful, funny, and comes from a good family. No one else could compare to him." As she spoke, Ryan Hayes could not take his eyes off her. I sneered inwardly. "You women from the city are so calculating. Ethan and Ryan know me well. I grew up in the country. I say what I mean, and I don't play games." My mom became even more furious when she heard that. Ryan could never bear to see Chloe cry. He immediately turned on me with a contemptuous sneer. "Nora, you graduated from one of the best universities. How can you fail to understand something so simple? No wonder everyone says you're arrogant and impossible to please. Keep this up and no one will ever want you." My mom hurled her cup at him. "Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you speak to my daughter that way? Scolding her right under my nose? Do you think we're nothing but a bunch of pushovers?"
