Narrator’s POV:
(Castle’s ground; halls)
After hearing the explosion sound, both Shawn and Ivy walked towards the source of it. As they both walked through the halls, they found it weird that there were no guards nearby nor anyone who noticed the sound.
“Perhaps, it could be that the instruments music from the ballroom is too loud hence, there were no vampires that heard the explosion?” Ivy asked Shawn while walking beside him.
“I do not think so. We, vampires, are known to have incredible hearing. It does not make sense the vampires inside the ballroom could not hear the explosion sound.” Shawn said while looking around. it does bother him that there were no guards in sight.
“It could not be an attack, right? If it is an attack, we should report to the others.” Ivy said. They were both nearing the corner when they passed the small room that Krystal and Adam were hiding in.
“Shawn! In here!” Adam shouted-whisper towards them which, fortunately, caught their attention. Shawn and Ivy then walked towards them and joined them in the small room.
“Did you hear the explosion sound, Adam? I was discussing with Ivy in the study room when it happened.” Shawn said while looking at Adam.
“Yes, I did hear it, your majesty. However, I shall ask both of you and Lady Ivy to lower down the voices, please. There are suspicious vampires that I had never seen before in the storage room.Four of them then were silently surprised with another explosion sound coming from the suspicious vampire’s group.
“Aaah, master, we have tried to open the door with the small bomb and it is not working. What should we do? I’m afraid that the vampires in the ballroom will notice the sound if we keep going.” One of the vampires told his master.
“Do you think I do not know that! Try again. We must search the blood no matter what.”
Four of the nobles were confused with the statements. Four of them continued to listen and silently watching them through the small gap on the door.
“We should confront them,” Shawn said while peeking through the gap. He then looked at Adam.
“Don’t you think that we should make a plan first?” Adam said while assessing the situation. Confronting them directly would probably cause a fight. On the other hand, waiting for the guards would take too much time.
“Well, I think we should directly kick them in their arse,” Krystal said while taking off her heels.
“Krystal, language.” Adam reprimanded her.
“Yes, I think we should also confront them. If we wait any longer, who knows what might happen if we wait any longer.” Ivy said, looking at them seriously.
“In the count of 3, 1..2…3”. Shawn then opened the door and tackled down one of the vampires. There were 3 of the suspicious vampires who were trying to break the blood storage room. Adam also tackled down one of the vampires. Meanwhile, the girls had already tackled down the last vampire. Krystal then tried to hypnotize the vampire in Ivy’s hold.
“What brought you here?” Krystal said, her eyes were glowing in a purple glow, meaning that she was in her witch’s mode.
“The blood..for the blood,” the vampire told her in fear. They were seriously busted as four of the famous noble family had discovered them trying to steal the castle’s property. The other 2 vampires were knocked down after being punch in the face by Adam and Shawn.
“What blood?” Ivy asked curiously.
“The dragon’s blood. Dragon’s blood...”. Shawn and Adam then chuckled after hearing his answers.
“Why would you think that the royal’s vampire would keep a dragon’s blood. Let alone keep it, think how would we take blood from a dragon without its permission.” Adam said while tying up the vampires with the curtain’s rope from the nearby windows.
“Dragon’s blood is a precious object. With the decreasing population of dragons, they were reluctant to give their blood to other magical creatures. Even though a dragon’s blood could cure any diseases or be used in a dark magic ritual, the use of dragon’s blood has been prohibited in recent years. Hence, there wasn’t any dragon’s blood in this castle.” Shawn said, recalling the book he had learned about dragon when he was younger.
“Well, judging from their clothing, their accent, and features, I think they are not from Olwen. Tell me Mr., perhaps the reason you came to Olwen was to find any remaining dragon’s blood?” Ivy asked while observing the vampire's face.
“Yes…for rituals. Rituals! I NEED THE BLOOD...I NEED THE BLOOD. GIVE ME THE BLOOD…” the vampire then continued shouting, asking for the blood.
“I think he is mad,” Krystal said while looking at the vampire. Adam had gone to search for guards and report to the king.
“Well, what an eventful night,” Ivy said while brushing her clothes. Before she could try to get up, Shawn had surprisingly, held her hands to stand up. Taken back by the gesture, Ivy had a moment of silent panic but then, composed herself.
“Thank you, Shawn.” She said while letting her hands go from his grasp.
“No problem, my lady,” Shawn replied while looking at her. He was slightly surprised and fascinated earlier with Ivy’s knowledge about vampires that came from another region.
“Can you help me too, your highness?” Krystal asked the prince with a jealous face. She had felt been ignored by both of them. Krystal also did not like the fact the prince pay more attention to Ivy.
She felt ugly feelings rising in her throat.
…
(A few days later; class)
“I heard from my father that the intruders in the ballroom a few nights ago had been brought to the king. The court has not decided on what punishment yet, but I think that they will be sentenced to death or locked up in the dungeon.” Krystal said while writing the notes from the board.
“The act of stealing and practicing rituals are f*******n here in the Olwen. Of course, they would be punished harshly by the court.” Adam said while also writing his journal.
“I’m mad.” Krystal suddenly blurted out.
“The vampires? Yes, I’m also mad about them, but the court will-“
“I’m don’t care about that Adam. it’s about Shawn.” Krystal replied, annoyed that Adam did not get her hint.
“What about Shawn? You are mad that he might get hurt by the vampires? What about me? I might get hurt too, you know?” Adam said while writing his journal more forcefully.
“No, it is not about that. I’m jealous that he paid more attention to Ivy.” Adam had stopped his writing and looked at Krystal.
“His majesty is not prohibited to form a relationship with other ladies in the castle. If he likes Ivy, then so be it.” Adam had gone back to writing.
“Come on Adam. Don’t be like that. You know that I like the prince and the prince is mine. I will not let anyone take him. He is mine.” Krystal replied. She was very much irritated with Ivy right now.
“Whatever you do, don’t push the limit.” Adam had replied quietly. Silently mending his broken heart.
…
(Throne room)
The king has gathered the four of them to the throne room to discuss the incident that happened a few nights ago.
“My children, please stand up.” The king after the four of them had bowed to him.
“As I have from the advisors that four of you have bravely confronted the intruders that night, I will have to give you, my children, a thank you. For have been bravely protecting the castle.” the king said while smiling towards them.
“Pardon me for asking, your highness. But may I ask, what happened to the guards that responsible for guarding the storage room that night?” Ivy had suddenly asked the King after bowing to the king.
The king who was slightly taken back her sudden question had only slightly smiled at her and answered her, “The guards were given a sleeping pill in the blood. The vampires had disguised as guards near that area. They have to the storage room guards to give them the drinks with the sleeping pills, making the guards fell asleep after a moment. Subsequently, they tried to break down the door but luckily, were noticed by you, my children.” The king explained to them as well as breaking down what happened that night.
“Furthermore, there were more of them. They had their accomplices in the ballroom, casting spells on us to make our hearings not functioning properly through the music. Hence, we could not hear anything outside the ballroom.” Four of them had nodded their head in the clear explanation from the king.
“Hence, by your bravery, I have put my trust in you, my children, to be able to protect the kingdom in the future to come. In addition to that, I will also approve the prince’s and his royal advisor's mission abroad to find the missing red ruby jewels.” The king had announced to everyone in the throne room. Clapping and happy shouts could be heard in the throne room.
“Thank you so much, your highness. We promised we will do our best.” Shawn had kneeled on his one knee while bowing his head down to the king.
“Nonsense, my child. You have done well.” The four of them then bowed in gratitude to the king and were dismissed.
