My heart thirsts because of you

Chapter 1     Narrator’s POV:   Once upon a time, there was a kingdom of vampires. The vampires of the Olwen are the highest and the longest-ruling vampire kingdom in history. They lived in the country where it is cold, surrounded by winter seas, hidden from human sights. The kingdom was at peace and the majority of the vampires live a prosperous life. The royal family consists of the King of Olwen, the queen, and their only son, the Prince Shawn of Olwen. As the only single royal bachelor of the Olwen, it is no surprise that the Prince was the idol of numerous single young vampires. Prince Shawn who is about 178 cm in height, loves to wear a slightly oversized long white shirt and tucked into a white beige or brown long pants, proudly showing his fit figure to the castle’s dwellers. His dark eyes, which could pierce into one’s soul, love to read the novels and maps in the library. Shawn is charming and attractive. However, before his appearance, it was his personality that made him even more famous. As vampires are known to be cold and cruel, the prince on the other shows the exact opposite. The prince shares the warmth he had to others around him. In addition to that, he was quite the cunning and sneaky prince. He loves to play jokes with the maids and soldiers around the castle. But Shawn was not the only one who loved to pull pranks. Let the author introduces you to his majesty best friend and royal advisor, the Duke of Blaze, Adam Blaze. Adam Blaze was not your ordinary royal advisor. Although he was wise and the majority of the time was quiet and likes to observe his surrounding, he also loves to play pranks on the castle’s workers. Both of the prince and royal advisor were quite naughty and yet they brought a little bit of fresh air and laugh to the castle. Shawn and Adam both were the same age and attend the castle’s school for royals. The castle’s school for royals or the Caesar, for short, provides the education for all the royals vampires in Olwen. Hence, the number of royal vampires that attend the school was quite small. This year, Shawn and Adam were in the last year of school. They were both popular and were rumored to be a part of the important mission the school provided for the high-ranking students. But it was not known yet whether the rumor was true or not.   Shawn’s POV:   “I have told you numerous times your majesty, you should not do that!”, Adam shouted at me while running after me. It was quite fun as his face has shown how tired he was. We have been running around one of the castle’s parks. I felt bad hence, I slowed down to make him catch up with me. It was a wrong move. “HA! Gotcha!”, Adam jumped at me and pinned me down to the ground. ‘Bahahaha, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I promised I will not do that again’, Adam only squinted his eyes at me, knowing my personality he knows that I would do it again in a heartbeat. “Come on, the third period will start soon.”. Oh, I almost forgot about school. We picked up our bags and started to walk into one of the classes.  “Your majesty, do you know that last night, the duke of Whittaker had tried to poison one of his children?”. “What? “, I asked in disbelief.  “Yes, being one of the royal advisors, you will never hear the end of it. The duke of Whittaker was convinced that his daughter, the one he tried to kill, was going to do something bad.”.  “What do you mean by something bad Adam? We are night creatures, the only thing that is bad is us.” I laughed at my statement. “No, your majesty. His daughter was accused of practicing black magic.”. Oh, that should not be a problem then I thought. But then I remembered the rules in Olwen here, the vampires were prohibited to practice black magic unless you were in the land of the witches. Well, since this was the land of the vampires, she surely was pushing her limits. Knowing that Whittaker is one of the famous dukes to despises witches, I could only wish for her best. “That is truly unfortunate. I wished the duke of Whittaker would forgive his child.” I said while shaking my head in pity. “I hope that is the case your majesty. The duke asked for the king to killed his daughter on his behalf because he was disgusted.”. Adam answered solemnly. “Speaking about black magic, I wonder where is Krystal? She usually would have to cling to your arms.” Adam asked without emotion on his face.  “I don’t know either. Her where beings are not my business though.” I answered carefully. I have known for a while that Adam harbored feelings towards our childhood friend, Lady Krystal Violet Verglas. Hence, I don’t want to talk about her, knowing that the subject would make my best friend sad. Speaking about Krystal, the Verglas was known as the mix between witches and vampires. As our land is open to any kind of magical creatures that want to come or visit, we do not, however, allowing them to practice their magic here. In fear of the imbalance of magic would damage the Olwen land. Hence, the Olwen and numerous other lands forbid the use of others' magic. But, the Verglas was an exception. As being the only mixed royals in history, the Verglas were allowed to use their black magic as witches but only in emergencies. Besides that, they were also prohibited from using witches' magic here. “Allow me, your majesty, to search for her. If my instinct is right, I think she is taking care of the kitten we found yesterday.”. Adam replied while nodding his head, amused with her action.  “Yes please, I will wait for you and Krystal in class then”, “Excuse me then,” Adam said and left towards the back of the castle. After reaching class, I sat down and relieved a sigh. Looking around the classroom, some students were speaking to each other, some were drinking blood and others were trying to hide from the sunlight. Although vampires are immune to sunlight, the sunlight does bothersome vampires. It was 1 p.m. and the sunlight was bright. Following my eyesight, my eyes fell towards a girl, sitting two rows in front of me. Ah, the Frost. Lady Ivy Glacial Frost. I saw her writing something in her journal again. She was a nice lady, a few talks back in the past remind me of her alluring scent and sweet voice different from others had my past self-used to blushing without my consent. Perhaps, saying hello to her would be a good idea. I stood up and walked towards her, “Good afternoon, my lady. It’s been a while.”  “Oh, my prince. Good afternoon to you too. And yes, it has been a while and please just call me Ivy.”. “Yes, Ivy and you can just call me Shawn. How you have been doing?”.  “I’m very well Shawn. Two years in the land of elves have been quite a challenge but it was fun. But now I’m back. Everything feels normal again, I guess.” She replied to me. “I hoped you would adjust well Ivy.” “Thank you, Shawn.” And that it is.  The teacher came in and followed Krystal and Adam. Adam was apologizing to the teacher for being late and Krystal was only looking at her. Krystal should mind her manner. Narrator’s POV:   “Today’s topic is about the sea monster creatures’ students. Does anyone here have the opportunity to meet one of the creatures? As they are known for their rare appearances.” The teacher or Madame Wren asked while looking at the students. “I have madame. I have seen a giant octopus on a journey to the sea witch’s home. Along with my father, the sea witch has shown his pet, which was the giant octopus. It was a lovely creature but it could kill any magical creature with its sharp tentacles.” Adam answered Madame Wren. “That was impressive Mr. Blaze. Thank you.”. Madame Wren thanked him and started to explain more about sea monsters. “Show-off.”, Krystal murmured while looking at Adam who sits beside her. Adam smirked at her and started to focus back on Madame Wren. “Sea monster creatures are known for their loyalty, gigantic sizes, and the takes up many forms. Their sightings have been very rare. They were known to be very wise and even the vampire clan ranks are below them. They lived deep inside the sea and only appear when they are needed. In the human world, some sea monsters were seen by humans. However, they were seen more as folklore. Our school luckily does have two sea monsters in the lake. They were in the shape of dragons. They were Naga and Bakunawa. Naga was rumored to come from the Indonesian jungles and Bakunawa near the Philippine’s sea. The sea monsters have sworn to protect the school and the vampire’s royal family, the Olwen.” Madame Wren explained while walking around the class. “Today’s homework will be in pair, alright? Students have to find a partner and research for other magical creatures, which could be anything, that should have similar traits like sea monsters. Your homework would be our opening towards the next magical creature. Class is dismissed. Thank you.” “Shawn, would you like to be my pair for this homework?” Krystal asked Shawn gleefully. “Sorry Krystal, I think you would want to be with me instead,” Adam answered while looking at Krystal. “Why? It is not like I don’t like being a partner with you, but I rarely paired with Shawn. It is unfair for Shawn.” Krystal pondered for a moment. “It is okay Krystal. I would rather enjoy you in a team with Adam. I have a hunch that Madame Wren would probably make this homework into a long-going project until the end of our school life. You should team up with Adam as you guys are neighbors.” Shawn answered Krystal. “He is right Krystal. Come on, let me take you home or duke of Verglas will have my head.” Adam replied dramatically while putting his arm around her shoulder. “Then what about you Shawn? Who are you going to partner with?” Krystal asked while elbowing Adam. “I think I’m going to ask with Lady Ivy. It is been a while since we last saw her. We can use this opportunity to get closer with her.” “Okay. See you then, bye Shawn” Krystal then left with Adam. “See you later your majesty.”. Shawn‘s POV:   “Your majesty, would you like to partner with me for the homework?” a mutual friend of royal asked me when I’m walking towards Ivy's table. “Sorry, Nara. I think I’m going to partner with Ivy. Perhaps next time?”. “Why your majesty bothers with her? She is an outsider, Shawn. I have also heard that she didn’t have a great home life either. Her father is never at home and her mother-“.  “I think that is enough Nara. She is our friend. Don’t talk about her like that. Now, excuse me.”. I replied coldly. It was not nice of her to talk about other vampires behind their back. In a minute, I have reached Ivy’s table. “Ivy, would you like to be my partner for the homework? You haven’t got any partner, right?”. I asked her, holding her hand to stop her from packing her things. “Uhm, sure Shawn. Let’s meet later at the library after school, okay?” she replied while looking at my hand that is still holding onto her. Ivy then gently removed my hand from her hand, smile at me, and left the class. “Okay, see you later,” I replied to her retreating figure. I looked at my hand. Why do I feel disappointed? My fangs grow at the thought.
