Narrator’s POV: (Blaze’s mansion; Adam’s room) “Krystal, have you finished yet?” Adam asked, standing behind Krystal. Krystal who was still writing glanced back at him and then continued writing. “Almost done, Adam. Please wait for a few minutes.” Krystal said as she was in her last paragraph on her homework about mermaids. “Take your time,” Adam said while pulling out the journal about his and Shawn’s future mission. Krystal glanced at the journal but did not comment on anything. She was almost done. After a few moments, Adam speaks up again. “Krystal, I would like to ask you something. Shawn and I are going on a mission abroad. Probably, the southeast Asia, to find the missing jewel.” Adam said while looking at her. Krystal did not show any emotion though. “Okay.” “Would you like to join?” Krystal then stopped writing to look at Shawn. Shawn looked at her, hoping that she would say yes. “I know that the journey will be quite dangerous. But we thought that you and Ivy would be a great addition to the team. Ivy can help us with her knowledge about the magical worlds and you can help us with your witch’s abilities.” Adam said writing something in his journal. Krystal suddenly get up and started to jump around the room. She looked happy at the thought of getting out of the castle and traveling around the world. Besides that, she could spend more with the prince. However, “What? Ivy?” Krystal asked Adam to make sure she heard him right. “Yes, Lady Ivy,” Adam said while picking the homework Krystal left at the table. “Why?” “Why not?” Adam asked while looking at her work. The homework is done, they should at least get 90 by the detailed information they got from the mermaid. “Hmph, I don’t know why she should join us in the journey but, okay. It’s your and Shawn's idea anyway. I’m just tagging along.” Krystal pouted while thinking about it. However, as long as she could spend more time with the prince, then it should not be a problem. “I hate her.” Krystal suddenly blurted out. “What?” Adam looked at her. “I hate Ivy. I hate that she took all Shawn’s attention to me. I don’t like that.” Krystal said, her eyes were filled with unshed angry tears. “Oh my, Krystal come here.” Adam walked to her and hugged her. she hugged back while sniffling softly. “How could he never pay attention to me? I’m always there for him and yet he never sees me. And suddenly Ivy came and he is all over her. I hate him. I hate her.” Krystal said while trying to control her sobs. “Shh, it’s okay Krystal. I’m sure Shawn has his reasons. Don’t blame him like that, alright? Who knows he might like you back and only saw Ivy as his close friend? Don’t be sad, okay. I’m always here for you. Always.” Adam said while rocking both of them back and forth. Krystal could only sniffle. It’s not only hers that are broken.  … (Frost mansion; garden) Ivy sat in the garden while thinking about Shawn’s offer to join his mission. The offer was tempting while she could escape from her parents, she was afraid she might in love with the prince. Is she thinking about the prince’s earlier action, she could not help but blush at the memory. As a sworn anti-romantic, she should have guarded her heart more carefully. “My lady? What brings you here?” Mr. White suddenly appears while bringing his gardening tools. It looks like he had just finished trimming the thorns from the roses. “I was just thinking about something,” Ivy said while looking at roses in the garden. Mr. White had done a great job over the years. “Well, is it related to the prince’s mission to find the missing jewels?” Mr. White asked while putting down his tools. “How do you know that?” Ivy asked, completely curious how could Mr. White knows about it. “Well, words got around, my lady. But it seems like I just hit the nail, right? He probably asked to join in his mission.” Mr. White asked while smiling softly at her. “Yes. But I don’t know Sir. I would like to join but I’m afraid of what to come.” Ivy replied to him. “What to come? Evil magical creatures? Don’t be afraid-“ “No, no. It’s not that. It’s just... I’m afraid that I will… miss home.” get attached to him. That’s the real reason but I could not bring myself to say out. Mr. White looked at me, he knows the real reason but decided to not bring it up. “My Lady, my advice is… don’t be afraid. Your history is not your destiny. I hope you know what I mean by that.” Mr. White replied and both of them fell into silence before Mr. White excused himself. He gave her a white daffodil before he left.   … (The next morning; classroom) “Welcome back students, I guessed you all have done your homework, right?” Madame Wren asked while looking at her students. “Yes,” the students replied to her. “That’s great. Now, there are only a few magical creatures that possess similar traits to the sea monsters. There are vampires, shifters, mermaids, and others. So, we will begin a new topic based on what the majority of the topic this class has chosen. After asking all the groups, it was decided that they would begin their new topic about mermaids. “Anyone who would like to volunteer to give his or her presentation? You can also present together with your partner. Madame Wren asked while sitting back in her seat. Adam raised his hand and followed by him raising Krystal’s hand in his hold. Krystal who was flustered only could send a death glare towards him. Besides them, Ivy, Shawn, and other smart students raised their hands. “Well, well, seems like this class came prepared. Okay, I would choose… Shawn?” “Yes, Madame Wren. Ivy and I would like to present our findings on mermaids.” Shawn said while grabbing his journal. Ivy followed him and both were ready to present their findings at the front of the class. “Let’s begin, shall we? Mermaids were believed to have come from the...” while both of them were explaining their presentations, Krystal could only look at her notes. Not glancing towards the pair in front of the class. “Hey, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Adam who noticed something strange about her asked Krystal about her condition. “I’m fine, just haven’t had my breakfast.” Krystal smiled at him. She was feeling the burn of jealousy raging inside her. She had no appetite to look at Ivy. … (After class; castle’s corridor) “That went very well.” Shawn and Ivy walked beside each other. Ivy had promised Shawn to give him her answer regarding his mission before. Shawn was quite nervous about her answer. He had hoped that she would join her. “I have decided that… I would like to join.” Ivy said to him while looking at him. “Oh my, thank you so much, Ivy. Thank you.” Shawn said excitedly. He then looked her in the eyes and replied, “I believe that we will make a great team.” “So, team?” “Yes, team.” Both of them had laughed and walked together to the dining hall. Not noticing the burning glare behind them.
