Chapter 2
Narrator’s POV:
After two years living in the land of the elves, one would have thought that Ivy would have a different mindset about love. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. The young lady even has to start to despises the word. In the land elves, the divorce rate between the elves is so high. Every time she visits the market, there would always two elves couples arguing with each other. Even though there were some happy couples, Ivy had always turned blind eyes against them. Believing that those affections were not real. It all started when she was still in primary school. Her parents fell out of love with each other. They would argue with each other and disgust each other. Ivy has never been treated with love before. Therefore, she prefers to be alone and close her heart. Ivy was a fine young vampire lady who came, unfortunately, came from an unloving family.
In terms of appearance, she was quite tall for a young female vampire and very beautiful. She loves ribbons and long summer dresses. However, she never did believe those compliments. Ivy knew that those compliments meant nothing to her. She had closed her heart.
Ivy’s POV:
(The Frost’s family mansion)
The mansion has slightly grown older yet the scent remains the same. It’s been a while. I have just arrived and currently walking my way down to one of the gardens. The gardens have not changed, Mr. White was still gardening here, and the water fountain was still slightly cracked.
“Miss Frost! Pardon me, I did not see you in the gates. How have you been doing, my lady?”. Mr. White came running to me. His white pale face has never changed over the years, always still has the indifferent cold beauty inside him. Huff, well I would guess that as one of the good traits being vampires, we could never age. Passing the timeless world, never change, and be doomed forever for good. I wished I had never been born.
“My lady? Are you okay?”
“Oh my, sorry Mr. White. I have gotten lost in my thought.”. I replied to him politely. After all, he was the one who took care of me when I did not have anybody besides me. He was the parent figure I wanted but never could have.
“You almost gave me a heart attack, my lady.” He chuckled and excused himself to go back to gardening the flowers. The flowers were always the roses. Red roses.
After saying goodbye to Mr. White, I went back to my room then. Today has been quite funny. The one person I thought I would never see again suddenly came to me and said hello to me. Prince Shawn. Has he been doing well those two years? Wait, what am I thinking? I should not think about him. Huff, I guess I have been tired from the long journey to Olwen.
“Ivy?”
“Huh? Yes, mother?”. My mother suddenly came into my room.
“What is “huh”, my dear? You are a fine young lady. We do not communicate like that.”
“I apologized mother. I would not do it again.”
“You better.” My mother squinted her eyes at me. I could only look down. It has always been like this. My mother would pick at any things that she was unhappy about me. Mother, no, Mrs. Frost has always been a cold vampire. Too cold.
“Well, I have to come to tell you that his majesty the king of Olwen will hold a ceremony ball to celebrate the return of vampires from the land of elves. The ball is two days from now. I suggested you wash up and wear decent clothes, get some rest.” My mother said while looking at my room and left the invitation card on my table.
“Yes, mother. I understand.”
My mother did not say anything and left the room. So much for a greeting after not seeing each other in two years. It’s okay. Nobody cares about me anyway.
I have chosen to close my heart after all.
…
Shawn’s POV:
(Olwen’s castle; Shawn’s study room)
“I believe that his majesty the king would approve of your proposal, your highness.”, Adam said while scanning over my proposal once again.
As the prince of the future vampire’s clan, I have been given the training to prepare me to become a future king. The job was not easy and I need to prove my worth to become one of the best soldiers here in Olwen.
“Yes, I think so too. The mission to tackle the mystery of the disappearance of the red ruby jewels has always fascinated me since I was young. Now that we have grown into a fine young man, we should search for the missing jewels. With this mission, you and I could prove that we both are more capable to rule the kingdom. Back to jewels, over the years, we have heard some rumors about the sightings of the jewels.” I replied while looking at spread-out maps on my desk.
“Some vampires reported that when they travelled to the Southeast Asia, they have come across numerous gold temples in one of its many islands. When they asked the locals or humans about the inside the temples, they replied it was mostly jewels and statues. It was reported that in the past, the pirates used to put their treasures inside a temple to prevent thieves stealing. The humans believed that temples were guarded by the angels and hence, did not dare enough to commit a crime.
“You know that we are not supposed to believe on some baseless rumors. We don’t know whether it is true or not, your majesty. Besides that, how can you be so sure that it was the red ruby we are searching for?”. Adam says while writing more notes in his journal.
“It’s fine, Adam. The rumors or info that I heard came from one of my father’s trusted guards. Don’t worry, I got someone to help us.” I assured Adam.
“I believe you, your majesty. But I don’t believe the guards.”
“Don’t be like that Adam. It’s my father's guards, who have stayed by his side for decades.”
“If you say so.”. I don’t know why often Adam shows his disliking towards my father’s guards. Subsequently, we both fell into a comfortable silence.
“Your majesty, pardon me for asking this question but, why do you want Lady Ivy to be your partner for the homework?”. Adam said while not looking away from his journal. Always the focus one. He would be a great advisor in the future.
“Why not, Adam? I think Lady Ivy is a nice young lady.” I said while not looking away from my notes.
“Are you sure, your majesty? Based on your face, it seems more than that.” Adam smiled a little. I could not answer him though.
“Your majesty, it is getting near in the evening. As much as I would like to continue our proposal, I have already promised Krystal to start our homework this evening. Excuse me then.”. Adam said while packing his belongings.
“Have a nice b****y trip, Adam.”. After saying goodbye to Adam, I walked back to my chamber. It is been a long day; a cup of sweet blood would surely wash away my fatigue.
Yes, sweet..just like Ivy.
