Chapter 10: The first step

Chapter 10:

Narrator’s POV:

(Castle)

“Are you ready, son?” the king asks while walking leisurely into Shawn’s chamber. As any father should be, he is always worried for his son’s safety. Shawn who is in the middle of packing, stop packing and turned his head towards his father.

“Don’t worry dad. We will be fine and yes, I’m ready. I’m so excited for this journey,” Shawn smiles and hugs his father.

His father let go of the hug and observe him in the face. they both stare at each other for a while, before the king sadly smiles at his son. Helping his sons to tidy up his collar, he then cupped his son’s face in his palms and using his thumbs to rub Shawn’s cheek.

“your mother and I will be waiting for your return my son.” The king pats his cheeks before leaving the room. Similarly, Shawn is feeling sad, leaving his parents behind to seek a journey. However, he assures himself that he will be back soon. Taking a look around his chambers before softly closing the door.

He is ready.

“Good morning, your majesty.” Adam came to stand beside Shawn after saying his greetings to the king and queen.

“Good morning to you Adam. Have a decent sleep, yeah?” Shawn asked while patting the royal’s horses. The horses will carry the carriage that will take them to the dock.

“I wish I could,” Adam said while putting his bag into the carriage. Shawn takes a look at him before engulfing him in a hug.

Teasingly, Shawn then asked Adam, “Are you scared, baby? Don’t be, Shawn is here to-“before Shawn could end his sentence, he was elbowed by Adam who was sporting an annoyed look at his face.

“Very energetic in the morning, I see,” Ivy appeared out of nowhere while putting her bags into the carriage. Adam, the gentlemen he was, immediately came to her aid and help her to put down her things.

“Good morning, my lady.” Shawn walked to her and engaged her in a simple talk. Adam who was waiting for Krystal was using his heightened senses to feel Krystal’s presence. She has arrived.

“Good morning...friends” Krystal walked towards them while bringing many bags in her hands.

“Why do you bring so many bags, Krystal?” Shawn asked while looking at her belongings.

“Well, I have tried to minimize it, okay? Don’t blame me,” Krystal said while giving some of her bags to Adam. Adam could only grunt at the weight.

Shawn turned to look at ivy who only shrugged her shoulders. Shaking his head at his friends, he then said goodbye to his parents before getting inside the carriage.

Four of them then went inside the carriage.

In the carriage, as the journey to the dock will take around 3 hours, some of them have decided to sleep. Choosing to sit beside Ivy, Shawn has politely offered his shoulders to let Ivy leaned into it. Ivy smiled and thanked him for that. Krystal who was watching for opposite them, curled her fist inside her coat. She turned to look at the window and opting to view the scenery.

It always winters in Olwen, she thought. Would it be so hot in Southeast Asia? She was quite afraid she will not be able to adjust to the temperature.

“Krystal, what did you bring in the bags?’ Adam suddenly started the conversation while closing his eyes and leaning in the seats.

Turning her head from the windows, she looked at him before replied,

“Some clothes…weapons…and questionable things.” Adam chuckled at her answer before opening one of his eyes and asked back,

“Questionable things like what?” Krystal squinted her eyes at him.

“Why do you want to know?”

“Curious,” Adam replied. His eyes slowly tracing her face. Wondering if she will ever look at him the same way she looked at Shawn lovingly.

“Fine, stuffs for rituals,” Krystal said while making herself more comfortable. This carriage needs some upgrade.

“Rituals? What for?” Shawn asked while looking at her funnily. He could never guess what was inside Krystal’s mind.

“To curse each of you. Now please be quiet and let me have my peaceful sleep.” Krystal opted to close her eyes and leaned her head on Adam’s shoulder.

“Don’t mind her, Shawn. I will take care of her.” Adam replied while shaking his shoulders to bother Krystal.

Krystal opened her eyes before turning to the carriage’s wall to lean her head on it. Adam sighed before taking her head back to make her lean in his shoulder but was rejected by Krystal. Giggling at his friends’ antics, he then glanced at Ivy’s still sleeping face. Even though her face was harshly caressed by the winter’s wind, it could not stop it from radiating her beauty. After taking a glance at his friends, he then also let himself relax for a little and took a nap. Letting Adam took the watch.

“We will take four, Sir,” Adam said to the pirates that will take them to the Asia seas. While three of them were waiting on the sidelines, they were also taking look at the dock. It was quite empty as not many magical creatures like to travel to vampires’ land. In addition to that, it always winters in Olwen, not all magical creatures could adapt to its harsh weather.

“Aye, four of you come here often?” One of the pirates asked them. The four of them have completely transformed their looks to look like the adventure seekers in their world. Cloaks, boots, swords, and leather pants were a common look for seekers. Hence, the pirates thought of them as adventure seekers.

“Yeah, we will be going now though. Please drop us at Asia please.” Shawn replied to him as the pirate nodded his head.

“Asia, aye? What are you looking for there? Spices? Lands? Girls? AHHAAH, AYE.” The pirate’s crews laughed at his joke.

“No, we would like some jewels though,” Ivy said while looking at the pirates. She noticed that the ship deck was big and wide.

“Aye my kids, you are going strong eh. Got some pirate's blood on you. Come on, get into the ship.” Before they know it, they were already sailing in the sea. Ready for the journey.
