    “I can’t, I don’t have enough energy left…” her strained voice reaches my ears through the harsh winds from speeding away, the sting of the somewhat cold air slapping my face fades to nothing as I register her words and my blood runs cold.

    Panic floods through me instantly, not knowing what to do or how to get us safely out of here.

    “What’s wrong sweetheart? Are you okay?”

    “We… we can’t go through another portal. Tabitha doesn’t have the energy…”

    “It’s okay, we can just drive. That’s why we brought the cars, right? It’ll be okay, love.”
