Can’t Recall

"Rio, for the love of god, just relax," I plead and put my hands on his shoulders to stop him from moving all over the place. Once he’s still, I wrap my hands around his face and try to do a quick energy cleanse which is extremely simple and quick because of how used I am to connecting with him. Slowly but surely, Rio takes a deep breath and thankfully relaxes under my hands, "Everything will be okay.” "How do you know that?” "I don't, I just think there's no need to panic. We can still sleep here, lock ourselves in the room and think of something for tomorrow," I offer. Rio sighs and nods but he’s looking deep into my eyes, hypnotizing me, so we both stay stuck in this same position for a couple of seconds longer than necessary until I manage to snap out and remove my hands from his face, "I'll go first and ask for a room, then I'll text you when it’s safe for you to come in." "Fine. But if you see a blonde omega that looks like me, run away. She is my aunt and my mom's best friend, she’ll go tell her everything immediately. And if you see an alpha with brown eyes, that's my uncle, run away too because he'll know you're a human and he doesn't like them at all, okay?" "Rio, again, just relax," I repeat. Rio forces himself to take a deep breath and nods, so I feel confident to walk and leave him hiding there to enter the hotel, trembling with a mix of nerves and excitement. There’s a super gorgeous older woman sitting behind the front desk when I enter and fortunately no one else is around. The woman has long brown hair and she’s wearing a fancy looking suit. She's the first female werewolf I've ever met, it's amazing, "Hi." "Hi, honey," she answers immediately, "How can I help you?" Just like Rio and his fifteen year old cousin, she looks completely normal. If you saw her walking down the street you'd never suspect she was a werewolf. But she is. "Yes," I answer and let out a stupid, nervous giggle, "Do you happen to have a room available for two people?" "Of course," she replies with a smile and looks down at her computer for a second, "What's your name? Are you visiting from Fallonmore?" "Yeppp," I answer, trying to stop myself from feeling nervous because just like I can sense that she's a werewolf, I think she'll be able to sense that I'm a human. I guess she could smell it, too, so I keep a safe distance. "Right, we've only had visitors from Fallonmore since Laurent is our Alpha. He's a lovely boy, by the way, isn't he? Do you know him? I talked to him and his beautiful mate the other day,” she talks as she looks something up on her computer, “I had to let him know about the little vandals who threw eggs at my windows last summer.” Laurie, lovely? The guy who is set on killing me and who is hiding things from his cousin, his 'best friend'? Yeah, right. "I know him in passing only. And yes, he's very lovely. Uh, my name is Lunanci Hale, by the way." "Oh, my, what a beautiful name," she says with a smile, "I don't know any Hale's from Fallonmore, do you have a big family? I know a lot of people over there, my husband had some relatives who lived there so we went a lot before he passed away." I know more about this woman I just met two minutes ago than about most of my old friends from high school. "No, I have a very small family. Just me and my mother," I answer, hoping that's normal, but I guess it's not because the woman looks up at me and is now studying me. Suddenly she looks curious and approaches me over her desk, her nose starts twitching. "I'm sorry, are you an omega? I can't really... pick up your scent..." she mumbles and tries to approach me but I take a step back. "I'm a beta," I lie immediately because I know betas aren't very important, according to Rio. The woman raises her eyebrows and thankfully she stops trying to sniff me, but she still looks quizzical. "One bed or two?" "One bed is fine," I answer because Rio and I have been sleeping in the same bed for as long as I've known him. Even when there have been two beds available, "Uhm, by the way... are there any Taffys staying here?" "Oh, yes. Laurent's family. It's your Alpha Rodrick, actually. Do you want me to call him for you?" She asks and immediately picks up the phone, “They have to be available for their people at all times, you know? He will pick up.” "No! No, I just wanted to know... uh, I heard my Alpha would be here, that's all. He's in his room, right?" "Yeah, they were making rounds around the clan meeting people, so they're probably sleeping now. You should go to sleep too, baby, you look very tired and sickly," she says and stretches a card towards me, "Room 14, fourth floor." "Thank you so much... may Mother Nature bless you forever," I say just because I want to look normal, but the woman looks confused for a second. "Wow, you are a very lovely young girl, may our Mother bless you, too," she replies with a sweet smile. I should text Rio to come in so we can run away to our room, but I can't. What if everything goes to s**t and we get caught soon? I can't die without doing everything I want to do. "Thanks, uhm, I'm... I'm a healer, you know?" I say, biting my lip. The woman opens her eyes really big, "I'm open to clients if you ever feel bad or anything. Or someone in your family. I could heal your energ..." "What the hell is taking you so long?" Rio spits, walking into the hotel suddenly, looking paranoid, "I've been out there for five minutes.” "She was telling me she's a healer," the woman replies and Rio turns to look at me like he wants to choke me, "I've never met one, I'm so curious. My wolf is completely fine, but maybe you could take a look? I can't miss the opportunity." "What? No, I don't think you understood. My friend is just a nurse. A normal nurse, only she's obsessed with witch stuff, cards, crystals and stuff, so sometimes she calls herself a healer," Rio says, rolling his eyes with a fake laugh. The woman sits back in her chair, looking disappointed, "So, everything okay? Do we have a room?" "Yes, I have the key," I mumble, embarrassed. "How many nights will you be staying with us?" the woman asks. "We don't know yet, sorry. Maybe a couple of days," Rio answers and grabs my arm to pull me towards the elevator, "We'll pay on our way out, right?" "Yes, that's fine. Enjoy your evening!" "Thank you!" He says smiling like he's a good boy as he pushes the elevator button a bunch of times. As soon as it opens, he shoves me inside, "What the f**k, Lunanci? You can't go around saying you're a f*****g healer." "But I am," I fight and push the button for our floor, "Or, at least I want to find out if I really am." "Well, don't. Healers aren't an everyday thing, dude, they're like... like, not common at all. You'll attract unwanted attention to yourself," he spits rudely and shakes his head, "Don't talk to people without me present, okay? You're going to get yourself killed faster." "Okay, Sir," I reply sarcastically and step out of the elevator when the doors open again, "I was just making conversation." Rio sighs in annoyance behind me but doesn't answer anything as I open the door to our room. Now I'm regretting only asking for a bed, but I know somehow Rio was going to end up crawling into my bed in the middle of the night anyway. "I forgot to bring our stuff," Rio complains closing the bedroom door, "Can you go get it?" "No," I spit and kick off my shoes to go straight to the bathroom, "I'll take a shower first." "You don't even have clothes in here! Lunanci!" He whines as I enter the bathroom and keeps saying something but as soon as I close the door, all noise disappears. I open the door again, "...my uncle sees me and everything is ruined. You have to..." "Huh, interesting," I mutter when I realize that the bathroom is soundproof. That's pretty convenient. Werewolves seriously think of everything. I love them. I shed my clothes and take a long, long hot shower in the biggest shower I've ever stepped into. I'd love to finish all the hot water but I'm sure that's not how things work in this fancy place so I get out when I'm ready. I also take the time the time to blow dry my hair and I put on one of the robes before getting out. Rio is sitting on the bed. "Why are you ignoring me like this?" "Because I'm upset with you, you were rude," I reply and lie down on the bed as well, "Go take a shower, I'm tired and I want to sleep." "I'm the one who should be upset with you," he mumbles under his breath as if he doesn't want me to hear and gets up to go to the bathroom. A while later when he comes out, he finds all the lights off and me inside the covers, "Great. Are you asleep?" "Not yet, stay quiet," I mumble. Rio climbs into bed, which by the way is so big that we are completely away from each other. Rio stays quiet for a while. "I hate it when you get like this. I had a right to get mad, you're being reckless. You're supposed to be the smart one of us." "You could have been nicer about it," I spit and turn my back to him so he understands I don't want to talk right now. Rio lets out an annoyed sigh, but I think he accepts because I feel him get under the covers too. The room is completely silent for a while and I'm waiting for him to fall completely asleep so I can have my nightly conversation with my favorite werewolf, but I don't need to because suddenly the energy feels different, heavier. I immediately know what it means so I turn to him. "Alpha?" "Hi, baby," he answers, his deep voice making me wet immediately. I reach over to turn on the lamp and then I can see my Alpha lying down, looking up at me with a predatory smile and dilated eyes, "You like being here?" "Yes, I love it," I reply and I move to sit on his lap. He pulls himself up to a sitting position and wraps his arms around my body, not taking his eyes off me for a second. "Perfect. This will be our clan, or Fallonmore. You’ll decide. Or, if I fail to convince my family of what you and I have, we'll find another clan and start from scratch," he lets out, his hands beginning to roam to undo the knot of my robe and remove it. "Let’s just chill for a while, Alpha, okay?" I say, because I usually need to control him with those ideas, but at the same time I stand up to pull the covers away from his body. Rio climbed into bed completely naked, that little jerk... although it's perfect because then it's easier for us, "Remember I like to take things slow. Can you kiss me now?” He doesn't answer, he just moves closer until he brings our lips together and gives me the kiss I asked for. I let out a moan against his lips and Alpha rolls us until my back is on the mattress and he's on top of me. "I missed you so much, baby. I missed being able to touch you," he says, moving his kisses to my cheek and then my neck to breathe me in, "He's getting close.” “What do you mean?" "The human. He's almost ready to deal with the truth," he answers, kissing my neck softly, "He's starting to love you, just like me." My whole body goes hot with that information, my heart stops and I have no idea how to feel about it. It must be true, right? They are the same person after all. But that means Rio is falling in love with me and that seems impossible. He's never made any kind of move toward me, he’s never given me a single sign that he feels anything more than friendship or guilt. "God, calm down," I beg, trying to control my body, "I'm not ready for that either.” "Why not?" "It's too much," I admit, "It's just too much." "Okay, Luna," he surrenders with a sigh, "But I still want you to keep that in mind. I'm yours. And you're mine, aren't you?" "Yes, Alpha," I agree in a low voice, swallowing and moving my hands down his back, "Can you f**k me again?" "I definitely can. It is my right after all," he lets out in the middle of a growl and suddenly lifts me up and walks with me to the bathroom.
