prologue

Kinsley pov

I wish I could have a picture of how wonderful the world looked like. I just wish I could see the beautiful colours and the magnificent blue sky . Unfortunately I can't because I was born blind. The world was only described to me by my mother.

Her soft voice and tone would always comfort me as she sang my favourite lullaby until I slept soundly .It was the sweetest and only voice I would hear for the rest of my life. But not today. She was panicking and I could feel that something was wrong even though she was trying to hide it .

"Mummy ? "I ask as I stick my finger in the air waiting for her to grab my hand and soothe it softly like she always does when I'm scared.

"kinsley, "she answers me with a trembling voice and continues , "I want you to do something for me okay , "

"What is it? "I ask shifting my eyes at the dark outline of my mother.

"Remember what I taught you when the pack is in danger okay. Hide in the closet and don't say a word . Your father just mind linked me and I want you to be safe , "she replies with a heavy voice .

"Mummy , "I whine tasting something salty and foreign on my lips when I realize that I'm actually crying . I have never been this scared before especially when I have learned to put all my trust in my parents and now they are in danger

"Kingsley my sunshine , there's no need to cry everything will be alright okay , "she sobs silently , "so just do what I tell you to do , "

I nod my head silently putting all my trust in my mother as I feel her soft arms lift me up and carry me on her hip . I don't know where she is putting me but I immediately sense that it is the closet .The small space is enough for a little girl like me to fit in.

"Remember kinsley when I shout your name . There is a secret door underneath you that leads to the tunnel. It will take you outside of the pack house . Just follow the direction of the tunnel . Don't be scared okay, "She instructs me with a firm voice.

"Mummy , "I cry as I grasp her hands tightly . I'm so scared to death , I don't want to lose her . This might be the last time that I hear her voice.

"kinsley don't be stubborn just listen to me okay ! "her voice rises and I instantly flinch away from her when her voice changes to something I have never heard.

She keeps deathly quiet for a minute and continues to talk to me with a small voice , "I want you to be safe okay when mom shouts your name . I need you to run, "

I wish I could see my mother's face and cling to her very tightly and wipe away her tears but I know that I'm a just useless little girl . A girl that can't even see anything with no wolf. I'm so useless. When everyone was training to be warriors at the age of 10 years. I was snuggled with my mum listening to her voice.

"Don't think too much Kinsley okay , "she breaks me from my thoughts, "just do as I tell you to okay, "

"okay mummy, "I nod my head agreement.

I feel her presence leave as the the closet door closes shut . Immediately she does the bedroom bursts opens and loud voices fill the pace . The errrie feeling creeps up from my neck to my back as I cling to the teddy beat close to me. I close my nose as I try not to inhale their horrible scent.

"Woman where is she? " The first loud voice snarls like a beast.

I try to imagine what's happening out there but I decide to keep quiet as I hug my little bear .I'm sweating heavily and the tension is so thick anyone can cut it with a knife .I don't want to make a sound because I can tell the men out there are bad people.

"I don't know where she is !"my mum answers loudly and bravely.

"I can smell her scent in here and you are going to tell me where she is or else I will kill you!"the man hisses .The sound is terrifying and it makes my bones shake and my whole body shiver.

"I won't tell you anything, "my mum grunts heavily with a loud cry in her voice .

I sit tightly waiting for something to happen .There's a deathly silence as The man stops speaking.What's going on ? I strain my ears to hear for any sound but there's nothing. After a few good seconds of silence. The man's footsteps head towards the closet and my breath hitches.

My mum senses his direction and pushes her body infront of the closet. The door bangs and I can tell that the man knows I'm in here.

"Get out of my way or I will kill you !"he growls in an inhumane voice.

"No you will not take my daughter away from me you scumbag!"she cries .

"YOU b***h!"He yells .A loud slap lands on my mother's face and I cam tell from the sound that he is hitting her badly .I sit tightly in the corner wishing that everything ends now .

"kinsley!"my mum shouts with a loud cry and I know that's its my cue to escape .I shut my eyes in fear and start feeling for the opening that leads to the tunnel. At this point in my life I wish I could see my surroundings and escape but it's pointless. I sob loudly as I search frantically with my hands so that I can escape.

"Kinsley !"my mum shouts again .my chest tightens as I realize that I can't find an opening. The sound of the heavy footsteps grow louder as they approach the closet again .

"mummy!"I finally yell in pain .

"KINSLEY DO IT NOW !"She screams with a trembling voice.

"Mummy I can't!",I sob loudly thinking of how weak iam and how I can't leave her alone but her shaky voice continues to speak.

"Don't worry about me okay my baby .I love you, "she whispers.

Just as the doors opens. My hands finally find the opening and I push my body with a loud thud allowing me to fall inside the tunnel.

"YOU b***h!"the man growls loudly and that was the last thing I ever heard from my mum and our pack.
