chapter 1

Kinsley

"Wake up you little pig!"the familiar voice screams and proceeds to pour ice cold water on my entire body .

I wake up from my deep slumber as my body shakes violently from the cold water.I rub my eyes and as usual I'm greeted with the familiar darkness that has surrounded my whole life .I wrap my arms around my body as I try to keep my body warm discreetly.

"Get up ! There's no time to laze around you little b***h !"my adoptive mum screams in my face again.

Ever since I was born I had longed for the day I would see my surroundings but ever since I stumbled upoon this pack .I have never wished to see the face of my adoptive mum .Her cold and cruel voice is harsh enough to depress me .I was thankful for being not able to see the people that abused me day and night.

On my 18th birthday. I prayed so hard to get a wolf so that i could have freedom and be allowed to leave the basement but my prayers went in vain .I never shifted and the whole pack despised me including our alpha....Alpha Leo .

Crystal lake pack has been my home ever since I managed to escape the rogue attack since I was young. It was hard to understand what was going on by that time but when I found myself here. I realised that this was the only pack I could call home.

"What are you thinking about?"she hisses as a hot slap lands on face . I flinch away from her as the pain courses through my whole body.

"I'm sorry, "I apologise as I touch my cheek and try to soothe the pain.

"You seem to forget that respect is cardinal .How dare you lift your head and speak without my permission!"she shouts landing another slap on my cheek.

The pain pierces through my body as I stumble back towards the wall .I try to keep my balance as my legs buckle and shake violently. I bow my head in submission hoping she gets satisfied but it doesn't end there because she keeps on going.

"Should I repeat myself?"she snarls as her voice gets louder and angrier. She kicks my knee cap with so much force I end up falling on the ground like a piece of paper .

"If you ever do something like that again. I will give you the worst punishment that will open your eyes !"she spits and kicks my stomach.

I fold my myself tightly as I try my best to cover myself from the heavy blows but they still continue. After a few minutes I can feel her leg retract and there's a deathly silence that starts to worry me .What is she planning to do to me ?

"Today we have an important visitor and an alpha for that matter ,"she mutters to herself. I can already imagine the apprehension in the pack with receiving a new visitor. Our pack is small and receiving a new visitor is something really big for us .

I keep quiet and wait for her to finish talking. I know that if I comment .The pains will only get worse.

"His name is Alpha Roman and he will be in the pack house today signing a treaty with our alpha ,"she continues to explain.

Something about his name makes my body shiver .it brings excitement and apprehension. I don't know why iam reacting to his name but I try to push it aside .

"Unfortunately he needs to see that every pack member is fit and okay including every disgusting omega,"she speaks in a condescending tone.

Her words are vile and hurtful but I just from my head in silence and wait for her to finishing talking.

"So Emily will help you dress up and you will have something to eat immediately,"

My heart jumps up at the sound of food .I haven't eaten since yesterday and I was starting to think I will die out of starvation. Food is really big deal for me including water .I only get small pieces of bread or if I'm lucky some porridge.

"I'm warning you little pig,"she growls, "you should behave yourself and if you try to do anything funny. I will punish you."

I wait quietly afraid to speak or answer so I bow my head in submission.

"What did I say?!"she warns me in an angry tone .

"To behave myself ,"I stutter

"Good ,"she replies in a lighter tone .I can almost imagine the smirk on her face as she speaks. I can hear her footsteps depart from Mr as soon as the door open .

My whole body relaxes once the door closes shut. I might be blind but my other senses are more heightened and sharp. Being wolfless has been hard for me ever since everyone found on my 18th birthday that I can't shift.

My thoughts are interrupted again when the door opens slowly. This time the scent is different and more relaxing.

"Kinsley,"the familiar sweet voice calls for my name .

"Yes Emily ,"I reply quietly and crouch further into the corner .

"'C'mon Kin ,"she uses my nickname ,"Don't hide like that ....it's okay ."

I crouch further into the corner because I know how my adoptive mum can be. Emily is her biological daughter but she is different from her. She treats me kindly and always sneaks little treats for me .

"Well the good news is that you will leave the basement today and join in us in the upper room today, "she says.

"That's a relief, "I smile as I think about how I will leave the basement for the first time toady .

"Don't worry I will let you wear my favourite dress which is the same exact colour as your eyes,"she giggles in delight.

"What colour is it?"I ask curiously.

"Violet! you silly girl ,"she pinches my nose in delight.

"Oh ,"I reply in a lighter tone .

"Yes don't you worry just a little makeup will cover your injuries as you are good to go, "

"You don't have to do that for me ,"I reply sadly .I start to think of how much trouble Emily would have to go through to do my make up. I don't even know how I look like physically and how bad the injuries are .

"Of course I have to and besides....You have to look well taken of ,"she replies in a meek voice and continues, "There's isn't enough time Kin .I will just treat some of the wounds that are bad and cover up the injuries okay."

"Okay ,"I nod my head in agreement .

After a few minutes of helping me dress up and tying my hair .Emily helps me up and takes me to the upper rooms . I don't know how the packhouse is but from the description of Emily .The upper rooms only have high ranking pack members and the lower rooms have the omegas only.Mine is a special I have been locked up in the basement for all my life .

"Don't worry okay ,you will be my side the whole time .We have to stand here and wait for the alpha to come and then we are good to go ,"

"Do I look okay?"I ask nervously as I smoother my hands on my dress .I can hear every hushed voice muttering and some are actually mocking me .it's hard to stay hidden when you are the runt of the pack .Especially if you can't see.

"Yes you do Kin.Dont you forget I'm your eyes okay and I will never lie to you, "she assured me in a soothing voice.

"Okay ,"I gulp nervously as we wait for our own Alpha .

The whole room goes quiet as The alpha of our own pack enters the room .The authority radiating from him is strong and dominating such that we all bow out heads immediately .

But something else is off .Something much stronger and powerful than our own alpha fills the room and i can feel the atmosphere shift. The whole room is filled with a sweet scent of rosemary and pinewood .I try to focus my mind on the bigger picture without lifting my head to the source of the strong scent .

"Good Morning Everyone,"Alpha Leo speaks, "As you all know today iam with Alpha Roman of the Black Mountain pack. The biggest and strongest pack in the country . He will be signing the alliance treaty with us today. "

"Yes Alpha Leo,"we all respond to him as we bow our heads in respect.

There's deathly silence as footsteps start to approach me .The overwhelming presence that is stronger than Alpha Leo approaches me slowly with prescse steps .I hold my breath nervously and pray that he is not heading my direction .

Everyone keeps quiet and I can feel their judging eyes on me .I squeeze my hands into fists praying for the ground to swallow me up.

The scent of pinewood engulfs me as he draws closer to me .His footsteps stop and I can already feel his presence infront of me .I shut my eyes as I pray to the moon goddess that this powerful alpha does not kill me.Its no doubt that only person in front of me with so much power and command is Alpha Roman!
