Monday morning came, and I was getting ready for my first day at my new job. I was excited and scared at the same time. I made a run to my car and drove to the company. Once inside I went straight to his office, I knocked first. I didn't want to be rude or make a bad impression.
"Come in."
I entered and saw him going through some papers. "Good morning Mr. Hawthorne."
"Good morning, Kristy. I need you to go through these papers and organize them. Your office is right next to mine, you won't get lost." With that said, he went back to his business. So different from the Mateo I met.
"Very well." I left his office and went to mine. It was nice. I sat behind the desk and started to organize these papers.
"How's it going on your first day?" I look up to see Liam.
"So far good, I have to organize these papers and give them back to him."
"If you need anything, I'm next door." With that said he left.
The door opens up again and it was Mateo, "I need you to make a reservation at this restaurant called, Blue."
"Of course, for how many people should I make it?"
"Just two, my girlfriend is back and it's her birthday."
"Very well. Mr. Hawthorne." I answered him. He left the office.
Of course, he has a girlfriend. The man is a great catch. Funny, gorgeous and a gentleman.
After an hour, I finished organizing all the papers and went to his office. Since it was slightly open, I went inside. "Everything is organized and your reservation is also done." I told him while putting the papers on his desk.
"Thanks, and next time I appreciate if you knock on the door first."
"Sorry, it was slightly open I figure I could enter. It won't happen again." I apologized.
"I'm back. I've missed you so much babe." A tall woman said while entering his office. She pushed me away and then kissed him. Talk about excessive Botox. This girl was fake. I have no idea what a man like him is doing with her.
"You may leave." He told me. I just nodded and left his office. I bumped into someone.
"Sorry." I said as I picked up a phone. "Here, I think is in one piece." He just chuckled.
"It's fine. You're Mateo's new assistant right?"
"Yes, Kristy Hale."
"Leonardo Hawthorne." He said as we shook hands. "His brother."
"I didn't know he had a brother."
"He's a man of few words. I'm two years younger than him." He smiled.
"That he is, and if you're looking for him, he's busy with Botox barbie. I- I mean his girlfriend Laura." I corrected myself, he just laughed.
"Botox barbie, that's hilarious. I like you." He chuckled, "See you around, Kristy." He waved goodbye and went towards the elevator.
Mateo
Laura kept talking about her trip, meanwhile I was looking at the security cameras and saw Kristy and my brother laughing and I could tell he was smitten with her. That pissed me off.
"Are you even listening?" Laura asked.
"Yeah sure, you love puppies." I replied while still looking at the camera.
"Eww no, they're filthy animals. You should consider getting rid of your dog." She said while making a face.
I looked at her and wanted to throw her from the 25th floor. The things one does to keep their mother happy. "Never, Max is loyal unlike some people."
"Anyway, I can't wait for us to celebrate my birthday, did you buy me jewelry for my present." Gold digger.
"Sure."
After a few minutes, she left my office, finally some peace and quiet. "Kristy, my office now." A few seconds later, she knocked on the door and I told her to come inside.
Kristy
"Yes?"
"My brother is off limits. He has a girlfriend."
"We were just talking, it's not like he asked me on a date." I rolled my eyes. I know rolling your eyes at your boss is not the best but, he is acting Like a jerk.
He got up and walked towards me till I was against the wall, my breathing became heavy, He put each hand on the side of my face, "Rolling your eyes at the boss on your first day?"
"Well, I couldn't control it, you're acting a little jerky. I know I'm not allowed to date people in the company. I know the rules." I replied.
He moved away and went back to his desk.
"I know my place in this world, rich people don't date poor people. I know that's what you actually meant. It's time for lunch. Have a good day sir." With that said I left his office.
"That's not what I meant; I swear this woman drives me crazy." He sighed.
I know people like me don't even belong in this job. Rich people can be pain sometimes. As I said before, looks can be deceiving. Mateo turned out to be a jerk.
