Chapter 7

651 Words
Elena sat in her room, staring blankly at the wall, her heart ached from the scene she had just witnessed at Charlie’s apartment. The pain of betrayal was sharp, it cut through her like a knife but it also fueled a fire within her. Now, it was time to revert to her original plan—Charlie would pay for every tear she and every other girl had ever shed. Charlie raced to Elena’s house that night. He knocked on the door, his heart was pounding. He prayed that she would give him a chance to explain. Elena opened the door. “Charlie, what are you doing here?” she said calmly. “Elena, please,” he began, his voice was raw with emotion. “You have to believe me. What you saw wasn’t what it looked like. Lisa showed up because I called her. I never knew she'd show up but guess what I pushed her away.” Elena folded her arms, and studied him. “Why should I believe you, Charlie? Is this because I denied us on TV, that's why you went back to one of your exes?.” Charlie took a step closer, his eyes pleading. “I made a mistake, Elena. I panicked after that interview, but I never meant to hurt you. And Lisa meant nothing—I only want you.” Elena hesitated and then sighed, “Alright, Charlie. I’ll give you another chance. But this is your last one.” Charlie’s relief was palpable. He reached out and took her hands. “Thank you, Elena. I promise I won’t mess up again.” Elena smiled sweetly, though her mind was already plotting how to deal with him. “Let’s start fresh, Charlie. No more lies.” They hugged each other. *** Over the next few weeks, Elena played her part perfectly. She was attentive, affectionate, and seemed committed to mending their relationship. Charlie was grateful and eager to make things right and this made him fall more deeply in love with her. But behind her kind smiles and loving gestures, Elena had a plan. She would make Charlie feel the pain Jess and other girls had endured. One evening, she dressed in a stunning red dress, one that accentuated every curve, and headed to Charlie’s apartment. He opened the door, his eyes widening with intense desire as soon as he saw her. “Wow, you look stunning,” he murmured, pulling her into a warm embrace and inhaled her flavory scent. Elena smiled, brushing her lips lightly against his ear. “Thank you, Charlie. I missed you.” They spent the evening together, sharing a meal, and played fun games. Suddenly, Elena turned up the charm. She started flirting and teasing him. Then she drew Charlie closer. The air between them instantly became tensed She leaned in, her lips hovering just inches from his. “Charlie, I want you,” she whispered, her voice dripping with seduction. Charlie’s breath hitched, his hands trembling as he reached for her. “I want you too, Elena.” Just as their lips were about to meet, Elena pulled back, placing a hand on her stomach. “Oh no, I think I’m getting menstrual cramps.” Charlie blinked, he looked confused and frustrated “Elena... now?” She gave him an apologetic smile, standing up. “I’m so sorry, Charlie. I need to go. I’ll call you tomorrow.” Before he could respond, she was out the door, leaving him alone and aching with unfulfilled desire. Charlie sat back, running a hand through his hair, trying to process what had just happened. As Elena walked away, her expression turned cold. She lied that she had menstral cramps. She had taken the first step in her plan to make Charlie suffer, and there would be more to come. She smiled as she hopped into her car and zoomed off.
