The trip was not too bad. With Leo and his strict but sensible VP—Reese—hosting games and activities for everyone to get to know each other, Kay actually thought that he did pretty well. His performance, however, had something to do with the fact that Gina and Michael were by his side, supporting him—with the angel basically whispering to him what to say. It also helped that he had taken a pill for his motion sickness, which made him feel a bit sleepy and made his inhibitions lower—making for a Kay that was less anxious and more chatty than usual.
By the time the vehicle stopped, Kay was actually thinking, “This isn’t too bad,” and he even discreetly typed that into his phone and showed it to Michael, who was genuinely happy for him. The problem, however, lied after the long road trip.
