Kay woke up the next day before his alarm—an occurrence that was quite rare, and only ever happened when he had a lot more than the usual anxieties in his mind. When he opened his eyes, the sun was just starting to rise. There was a faint glow coming in through the windows, and since he was rarely awake early enough to watch it, he thought he should get out of bed. He failed to get up, however, when he felt something weighing on his chest. When he looked down, there was Michael with his eyes closed and his eyebrows slightly furrowed. Michael was actually asleep. It was the first time Kay had seen him do such a thing. He had claimed that he could never sleep—since angels didn’t sleep—so he was always outside of the dorm to watch the sun rise every day; yet there he was, actually curled up
