chapter 14 - Medical attention part 2

Chapter 14

I waited a few moments then I stood up. I slowly lowered my sweat pants and then I raised my shirt and slowly took it off. I stood there in my underwear as the nurse checked my body. She saw the bruising mainly on my stomach and back and between my thighs. She saw bruising on my arms and said where the bruises were. She told the doctor about all the cuts on me and how most of my back had cuts everywhere.

“Doctor Wilson they are all along her torso and thighs with cuts along her back. Kiara, can you get dressed then wait outside for a few minutes?” The nurse asked.

I thought it was unusual but I did as obliged. I didn’t know the nurse had turned the camera on to record my body and that she was showing him the bruises and cuts. About 15 minutes had passed and then I was called back in again.

“Please answer us honestly Kiara.” Said the doctor.

I nodded and waited.

“Are you sexually active?” He asked me.

“I guess I am.” I answered.

“Are you tended if I touch here?” Asked the doctor.

He touched my body in certain spots and it really hurt.

“We are going to need to call an ambulance for you. You need to get an Xray and an ultrasound to see if there is anything going on. You may have a few fractured ribs.” The doctor started to explain.

“I can’t go to the hospital.” I answered.

“We need to see about your health. You need to go. If you have broken ribs, you could poke your lungs or even your heart. So we encourage you go. As you came with no adult and you are seeking help, you are currently in our care. We have to provide medical assistance and you can choose to not give out personal information but we need to do tests.” Said the doctor.

“But I can’t. Look I need to be home until Friday. Can I come back then?” I asked with full intention on not coming back.

“How about we do the tests, then take you back home later after the results come in.” The doctor said.

“No I have to get home to cook dinner. My siblings are leaving to stay with my mom so I can come back then.” I answered.

“Well at least let us do some blood tests at first.” The nurse encouraged.

I reluctantly agreed because I could see I wasn’t going to be able to leave without them being happy.

After some tests the nurse and the doctor went to get some more equipment, but I walked to the door quickly and left. I knew that they would involve the police when I am at the hospital but I don’t intend to find out for sure.

The sun had set and it was getting quite dark and I was starting to experience the pain again. It was starting to hurt really bad and so I sat on the nearest park bench and held my sides tight. It wasn’t until almost an hour of sitting there, that I heard a noise and I got a little more scared. It was getting more cold and the wind was getting stronger. The sky was very dark and it was looking really bad. I couldn’t help but wonder how late it really was. Then someone wrapped a hoodie around me and put their arm on me. I looked and was surprised, it was Jacob.

“Now, why are you sitting out here alone Kiara?” Jacob asked.

“I needed to see a doctor but they wanted me to go to the hospital so I took off.” I told Jacob.

“May I ask you why you needed a doctor?” Jacob asked me.

“Because I have been experiencing pain for a while. The doctor said they think it’s broken ribs and could puncture my lungs and I can’t go there so I left. I felt the pain again hence I am sitting down until it doesn’t hurt enough and I can walk again.” I told him.

“Hang on, you need a doctor? We have a doctor at our hotel. You can use that one, I just need to double check with Liam. They work for him but he has a hospital level in the hotel for if a few people need emergency treatment or giving birth. We are like a large family and we don’t like going to the hospital due to the long wait times. So I can ask, I am sure it’s okay if you use them.” Jacob said.

“I don’t know.” I told Jacob.

“Let me just ask Liam at least.” Jacob said.

“But-“I started to answer before Jacob interrupted.

“Shh it’s ringing.” Jacob said.

I notice he is on the phone and I get worried. They talk for a bit all I hear is Jacob’s side of the conversation.

“Sorry sir for interrupting you but I needed to call. Yes I know, I went for a walk and found Kiara. Yes Kiara is okay, she is needing to see a doctor but doesn’t want to go to the hospital. Can she use ours? Of course. Yes. She is, And she is experiencing a lot of pain. Yes sir. We will meet you there. That room? Okay.” Jacob said.

He hung up the phone and looked at me with a smile.

“Well Kiara, it looks like you have a doctors appointment after all. Let’s go.” Jacob said.

“I have to go home first and tell Mark where I am going.” I told him.

“How about we call him?” Jacob offered.

“I don’t have a phone and we don’t have a phone number.” I told Jacob.

“Well how about we get you there, then I will ask Liam to pick up Mark and Alicia for you.” Jacob offered.

I hesitated but then obliged. I know Mark will be mad if I don’t go get checked out.

“Okay but you have to ask Liam to get Mark before they check me out and do any tests.” I said.

“Well okay miss. Let’s go.” Said Jacob with a Laugh.
