Mark has been curious for my health all day and trying to get me to see a doctor. “Kiara you have to go to the doctors today, we need to make sure you are okay.” Mark said. I was in my bed holding my sides and hurting. “I will after the pain passes.” I told Mark. “It is better now than later Kiara, we can walk with you.” Mark said. “I will go soon. I will go alone.” I told Mark. “Okay well if you feel unwell, go to someone’s door for an ambulance.” Mark said. I nodded my head although I disagreed to get him to leave. When I saw him shut my door I threw my hair into a bun and climbed out of my window. I don’t want them to follow me so I take off quickly while wearing black sweat pants and a baggy black long sleeved shirt. I walked through town in the cold. The weather was quite chill this afternoon. I reached the doctors and there wasn’t a queue. They were closing soon. “Can I please see a doctor? I am experiencing a lot of pain.” I asked. “Oh you poor darling, did you walk her in this weather?” Asked the nurse. Okay I better continue the conversation. “Yes I did, I really need to see a doctor.” I told her. She looked me up and down. “Oh darling where are your shoes?” she asked me. “I forgot them, please can I see a doctor?” I asked. Another nurse approached. “Can I help you?” She asked. “Yes please I need to see a doctor I am in a lot of pain. I asked this nurse but she is only asking about my feet and if I walked.” I answered. “I am so sorry for that. Let me see who is available to help you.” She responded. I wait for a bit. “Okay Dr Wilson can see you. But first can I have your name?” Asked the nurse. “Kiara.” I replied. “Your last name?” Asked the nurse. I know I couldn’t use my real last name so I made one up. “Simons.” I said. “Okay Kiara Simons, How old are you?” She asked. “14.” I replied. “And your date of birth?” Considering the year is 2016, that would mean I was born in 2001. Because I am turning 15 soon. “01/05/2001 my birthday is coming up.” I replied. “Okay Kiara, take a seat and fill this out. You will be seen soon.”  The nurse said. I sat down and started filling it out. I couldn’t do my insurance part or address, so I made up some stuff. And I also didn’t have a phone number so I added lost phone to the form. The doctor called me in so I brought the form in with me. “What seems to be the problem this afternoon?” The doctor asked. “I have been having pain in my stomach.” I told the doctor. “One moment.” The doctor said. He walked out and came back in with a female nurse. “Kiara, I bought this nurse in because I need to check your stomach and I need to have a witness for safety protocol so no one can make false claims. It isn’t just you, it is with every patient needing to life their shirts. I hope you understand. I would like to proceed now, can you please sit on the bed and lift your shirt?” the doctor asked. I was hesitant but I ended up obliging. The doctor and the nurse kept exchanging glances. They saw the cuts and bruising on my stomach and sides. “Doctor, come here a second.” The nurse said. They whispered and I couldn’t hear. She then proceeded to the computer and entered a few things. “Kiara, can you take the whole shirt off and your pants, stay in your underwear and bra for a bit. We need to see the extent of the injuries.” The doctor said. “I am uncomfortable with that.” I replied. “How about if I look the other way and the nurse looks at it?” The doctor asked. I hesitated but nodded. “Okay Kiara, can you undress for me?” The nurse asked as the doctor faced the wall.
