Mate

Chapter 7

Tony’s point of view.

It started as a casual day, I slept in another girls bed again. My dad tells me I should stop doing that until I meet my mate. My mother used to say boys will be boys. The only problem is I can’t remember more about myself. See I love playing my bass guitar and I love hanging with the guys and going to parties. My friends and I are considered players in the pack. And well to put it bluntly, I guess you could say I could sleep with any girl I want. I realized I slept in with Trish this girl from school. I am 17, and she is 17 as well. Trish has blonde hair that always puts her hair in a tight bun for school. She was a cheerleader for the Mediterranean School Of Education. The guys and I always sleep with the popular girls but we also sleep with any girls that live in the boarding houses. One of my friends (Jacob) even goes for older women in their late 20’s and early 30’s.

I quickly ran my fingers through my hair and got out of her bed. I pulled my pants up and threw on my shirt. I then ran to the main building and grabbed my things from my locker then sat in homeroom with my friends in the middle of class. But there was something different, I saw a guy past the door and he had on a shirt that was plaid but he smelled sweet. I know I am not gay, but then that means he knows who my mate is. I saw him again at lunch but then my friends wanted to ditch last period so I took off with them to go to the movies. After the movie we went to the pack house to shoot some pool. I always win. I am the next Alpha in training and we have a pack house that is blended as a large hotel on the edge of town. Dad pays for it with the businesses in town but every manager is a pack member. Normally we hire those that are members of the pack but my mother Gloria made a friend when she worked at the hospital, this friend ended up dying during birth and when the girl was 14, her father died. Since then this girl slept around quite a bit for food. Now the pack has taken responsibility, they gave her a small 2 bedroom unit in town and she works in my dad’s diner. Dad is working there this week and he has asked me to pop in to help with this catering thing on the weekend. So when I am in there I bring my friends. She doesn’t throw herself at me as much when they are here. We went to the shops and then I smelt this sweet smell. We were arriving just before closing time when I smelt it.

“What are you doing bro?” Said Jacob.

“Do you smell that?” I asked him.

“I don’t smell anything, guys do you smell anything?” Jacob asked the others.

“No.” said both Carl and Rick.

“You guys get the stuff while I look for it.” I told them.

I followed the smell around the front and then I saw her. She was beautiful from what I saw. She had a bit of a limp and so I stayed back to not scare her. I was curious about her. Why doesn’t she look familiar? Under the street lights she had looked like she had blonde hair but there was dark in it. Her frame was beautiful and curvy but she did look like she was in pain. My friends caught up with me and we stayed behind her. This girl showed how smart she was, she ducked into a yard and I could hear her shuffling and climbing over the fences. I tried to not laugh but she made it more difficult to try not to. She didn’t even know I was listening or trying to not laugh. The guys were bored and talking about useless nonsense while I focused on listening to her. I kept looking in her direction then I heard her voice. Her name is Kiara and she is going to look for work. After she saw us staring at her my friend got a text.

“Tony we have to go. Alpha wants us back home.” Jacob told me.

“One more moment. I am listening to her.” I replied.

Eventually the curtains were closed and I left to go home.

Dad wasn’t happy that I practically stalked a girl home.

“Dad! She is my mate! I want to know at least a little about her!” I cried.

“Tony that is beside the point! You stalked her!” Dad screamed back at me.

“Dad please just listen to me for a damn minute! For once in your damn life just listen to me. It’s always whatever you want and whenever you want. I help you and I never get a thank you. So shut up and listen to me!” I screamed at dad.

I finally got everything off of my chest and stopped being bottled up. But then dad punched me in the face.

“Tony are you okay?” Said Jacob.

“Get out of here or you will be punished too.” Dad threatened Jacob.

The guys bolted and went to their rooms.

“Come with me right now!” Dad shouted.

I reluctantly followed. He took me to his office which is sound proof.

“Dad before you say anything, please just listen to me.” I said to dad.

“Fine, but you better speak quickly before I hurt you.” Dad told me.

“Well I smelt her and knew she was my mate. But I saw her limping and I wanted to make sure she is okay. But when we got towards near her house, she went into a yard and climbed the fences until she was at hers. She was talking to her brother and planned on moving out. Dad her name is Kiara and though you may be mad at me, please give her a job.” I begged after giving dad the basic information I heard.

“You really don’t get it do you.” Said dad.

I looked at dad as he held his hand to his chin and sighed.

“Look I will give her a try one day but right now we just can’t. And if you stalk her again then you will be disowned.” My dad threatened.

“I won’t stalk her again dad.” I told him.

“You lost the chance to call me dad. You broke the code, and the rules of the pack. You have lost your rank Tony. You have one more chance before you are kicked out.” Said my dad.

“I will obey your rules Alpha Liam, but I will help her if I see her in public needing help.” I told my dad.

Dad looked at me with a very disappointed look on his face.

“Alpha Liam, before I leave, Did you still need me and the guys tomorrow to come in to the diner tomorrow?” I asked dad.

“Yes, be there when you can.” Dad said.

“Yes sir.” I replied.

I walked out and laid in bed. I kept picturing her and it was driving me crazy. Eventually I could get some sleep. When my alarm went off I felt so tired that I threw it at the wall. The door suddenly knocked.

“Tony are you awake?” called out Jacob.

“No.” I said in a tired and groggy voice.

“Well Tony impersonator, tell Tony that he is wanted downstairs before the Alpha heads to work.” Jacob said.

Oh great. I quickly change my clothes to run downstairs where dad doesn’t look happy.

“Tony, your principal rang and said you left school early. Do it again and I will kick your ass.” Dad said.

“Jacob needed help so we went to help him. He got a call from a private number saying his cousin was needing help and so we helped.” I lied to dad.

“Is this true Jacob?” Dad asked.

“Yes, sir.” Jacob lied to my dad.

“Are you sure? Now I am ordering you to tell me the truth Jacob.” Dad said in his alpha voice.

“Sir it’s a lie. We hung out because I could see Tony was distracted since a guy walked past the class room. I figured he needed a break sir.” Jacob told dad.

“So Tony you lied to me? Why were you distracted.” Dad asked me.

“The smell of my mate went past me but it was a guy. So I was confused and questioning if I was really into girls or if my wolf was gay.” I told dad.

“Well I will let it slide this time. But you need to start attending classes.” Dad said.

“I know dad but this week is a busy week. I am helping to build some of the new houses this week and I was hoping for an exception as it will take a while. We could come in and have lunch while we have the meeting and then afterwards I could go do the construction site.” I said with hope.

Dad looked like he was thinking.

“I tell you what, I will give you this week and next week off with a sick note if you do that and next week you work 5 hour shifts for the week with Rebecca so I can organise some other businesses.” Dad said.

“One condition, Rebecca literally flirts all day so can I have a couple of the guys there so she will be more likely to not flirt. One will be by my side the whole shift.” I tried to bargain.

“Two friends only, and two free drinks and one lunch a day is all your getting each. Considering the no school.” Dad said.

“Deal” I told dad.

Dad left and we got dressed in our casual clothes to start working at the construction site.

I wore my black jeans and a black shirt that showed my muscles off and Jacob wore a singlet and jeans. By lunch time we had helped build the roof on one of the new houses near the pack hotel.

I had walked with my friends to the diner and most of us were shirtless, Jacob had driven his car and grabbed us water bottles. I tipped one all over myself to cool off and then drank another one. Dad was coming over and whispering.

“You can’t come inside just yet.” Dad said.

“Huh?” I asked dad confused.

“A young girl named Kiara is inside looking for work. Son, she doesn’t have the limp but when I left her alone she did clean up some rubbish someone left and I saw some bruising on her lower back when she reached over the table through the cameras. Don’t interact with her Tony.” Dad threatened.

“Wait Alpha Liam are you saying she may have been beaten?” Jacob asked dad.

“Honestly it looks that way, but she won’t open up to me. I am thinking of offering her a job to work but she can’t start until after you have helped next week.” Dad told me.

“Dad from what I heard, she needed the job. I promise I won’t stalk her or harass her or flirt. I want her to be able to move out like she said she needed to do. I won’t do anything to risk losing her.” I told dad.

Dad was thinking it over, I kept trying to look at her.

“Hold on, stay out here.” Dad told me.

Dad walked inside while we waited out here.

“I must say, that would surely suck.” Said Rick.

“What?” Asked Carl.

“Tony has found his mate, she is literally in his reach but can’t do anything. That would suck.” Said Rick.

Jacob and Carl agreed. We stood outside and I tried listening to them inside but I couldn’t hear properly.

“Dude your dad is coming back.” Said Jacob.

I looked at dad and he whispered to us.

“Okay you can show her the ropes, but under no circumstance must you touch her. I sensed her get tense when Rebecca approached. And Rebecca had a bit of anger to Kiara for no reason. You have to keep an eye on them.” Said dad.

“I will keep an eye on them but I swear to not do anything, you can check the cameras if you don’t believe me.” I replied.

Dad was about to speak but we heard a raised voice. It sounded like Rebecca called my mate street trash in a shout.

Kiara walked out really quickly and started walking away.

“Dad stop her and hire her.” I replied.

“Son she just stormed out.” Dad said.

I sighed and ran after Kiara. I put my hand on her shoulder and she spun around with fear in her eyes.
