Epilogue The next month was filled with all kinds of progress. Slowly, Kiki and Chirp warmed up to each other and got used to having to share the habitat. The same thing was true for Felicity and I, something I’d never have predicted when we first met. I wished that we’d defined the relationship by now but she didn’t seem in a rush to do so and I wasn’t sure what good it would do me to bring it up. There was a good chance everything between us was temporary. And yet, whenever I thought about her, I found myself inadvertently smiling. “You look like you’re in a good mood,” Tamara commented from behind the front desk of the clinic. I shrugged, side-stepped the sphinx ambushing me from behind a large plant. “I guess I am. Hey, Hatty. Your technique still needs a little bit of work.”
