Micheal walked aimlessly, not knowing where he was going or what to do next. He had just lost his wife and his house to his older brother. What should he do now? Where could he even go now? Even if his parents were still alive, they would still never have let him stay with them.
His parents had always played favourites and it was pretty obvious that he wasn't their favourite child. He only realized the reason for their obvious favour of Richard over him when they'd already passed away.
It was when his parents passed and he volunteered to clean out the house, that he found his adoption papers. He was surprised, but his shock only lasted for a moment. It made sense that he was adopted, it perfectly explained why his parents looked at both of them so differently. I
But they had already died, so he couldn't ask the questions that weighed on his mind. And so he continued to live with the weight of finding out that his parents were never really his biological parents.
Maybe it was because of how much he craved to be loved that he found so much solace in Amelia. Maybe that was why he fell in love with her so quickly.
But now even his dear wife had betrayed him with the same person who hogged all of his parent's love. Micheal chuckled at the thought of it. His own brother took away the love he craved for so easily. He didn't even need to put in any work at all.
Richard had a serious heart disease when he was younger, it was so serious that his chance of survival were very low. Because of this fact alone, their parents took extra care of Richard.
After some time, Richard miraculously got well which was a cause for celebration in their home. But their parents continued to pamper Richard, everything he wanted was handed to him in a platter of gold. While his younger brother, Michael, was completely overlooked and neglected.
Micheal was nothing like his brother. Unlike Richard, he had to work extremely hard to get what he wanted. That included his parent's love and the love of his wife. He tried everything in his power to make Amelia happy, even if it meant taking loans to buy her expensive bags. But that was not enough to make her stay
As Micheal walked further, he found himself in a secluded part of their neighborhood. That part of the neighborhood was undergoing construction, so it was off limits to other citizens.
Micheal stood there for a while with his gaze on the ground.
"What do I do now?", he said as he blankly stared a the ground.
The more he recalled the events of that night, the more the question rang in his head.
"What do I do now..... now that I've lost everything, what more do I have to live for", he clenched his teeth as tears fell from his eyes.
"All I ever wanted was to be loved", his crying intensified, "Is it really that hard to love me?"
He could never get the one thing he yearned for, and every other thing he had was taken away from him too. So what was the point of living if he would never attain what he desired most? His life was now meaningless.
Upon that realization, Micheal raises his head and comes to a conclusion. He didn't want to live a meaningless life, so he decided to take his only life. He concluded that dying would be less painful than living his life aimlessly.
He searched around and found a sturdy rope. He picked it up and tied it around a tree branch. After he had inspected it and tied it tigh enough, he climbed onto a large rock and positioned his neck into the rope.
But even at that moment, he hesitated. Micheal thought he had steeled his mind and was ready to take his own life, but even at that final moment, he still thought he still had a chance.
Micheal kept looking back, expecting that he would find Amelia running to him and begging him to stop. He thought she would come back and confirm that it was all a joke and she didn't mean anything she said back there.
A part of him still hoped that he was having a nightmare and he would soon wake up in bed with his wife. He hoped that it was a dream that he would soon wake up from and tell his wife as they both laughed at how ridiculous it sounded.
But the longer he waited, the more he realised that he wasn't dreaming. This was his reality and he truly lost everything he had to his older brother.Micheal painfully smiled at his stupid thoughts.
Micheal finally stops hesitating and just as he's about to perform the act, a small locket falls out of his pocket. He squints his eyes to examine it and he sees an inscription on it. "H" was all that was written on the locket.
Micheal was curious to see what was in the locket but decides not to check.
"What's the need of checking out a locket when I'm going to die anyways", he mumbles.
He places his neck on the rope again.
"I really have lived a pathetic life", he says one last time before taking his life.
He takes one last breathe and just as he is about to let go of the support under his feet, he hears hurried footsteps, followed by voices getting closer to him.
"STOP!!!", a voice shouted from behind.
He turns around and sees several large men in black suits, looking at him with horrified expressions.
"Please don't do this", one of the men pleaded with a scared face.
"Who are you people and why are you trying to stop me?", Michael questioned.
"We were sent here to take you back to where you rightfully belong, master", they replied.
Did they just call me Master?
