I'm your sister, Callista"
Sister? Since when did I have a sister? Micheal thought. The sequence of events that had just occurred left Micheal in a confused state.
First, a group of men who call him 'master' for some reason, take him to an unknown location without any explanation. Then he finds a locket that's identical to the one he owns in a strange house. And now a strange woman is claiming to be his sister. What exactly is going on?
Callista noticed the confusion on his face, and though she was also confused, felt bad after seeing Micheal struggling with the information he had just received.
"Let's sit down first, it seems we have quite a lot to talk about", she spoke softly in an attempt to calm him down.
Micheal slowly sat on the coach and she sat on the armchair opposite him.
"I understand that you have a lot of questions to ask me", she stated, "but what I said earlier is the truth"
She paused before continuing, "I'm your older sister, Callista Hayes, and your my brother".
Micheal still had a hard time processing what she was saying. He had found out that his biological parents had died, so he didn't bother looking for any other members of his family.
But if she claimed to be his sister, did that mean a member of his biological family was still alive?
"Earlier you were surprised when I said I didn't know who you are", he responded, "If you're really my sister, then why don't I remember you?"
Callista paused and gave a solemn look
"I don't know why you don't remember me", she spoke sadly, "We were always together when we were younger. Till we lost you when you were 8 years old".
If he had spent the first 8 years of his life with his real family, then why didn't he have any memories of them? The story only got stranger, the more he thought about it.
"Please believe me, I'm not lying. I really am your sister ", she spoke frantically, "I even have proof"
Micheal watched as Callista got up for the chair and walked to the office table. She picked up a necklace from the table and walked back to Micheal.
It was the same locket that he had been looking at before she came into the office.
"Look", she said as she opened the locket to reveal a picture.
It was a picture of two children inside the locket, girl and a boy. He assumed the girl was Callista, when his eyes fell on the young boy's face, he was shocked.
The young boy looked exactly like him when he was younger. He stared at Callista in disbelief, expecting her to give an explanation.
"The children in this picture are me and you", she explained, "this picture was taken a few weeks before your disappearance".
"Our father loved it so much that he made two lockets with the picture in it and family initial inscribed on it", she continued, "he gave one locket to each of us, but yous probably got lost too when you disappeared".
As she spoke about the lockets, Micheal reached into his pocket and pulled out the necklace.
"Yes, that's the other pair", Callista beamed when she saw the necklace in his hands. "Open it and see for yourself".
Micheal opened the locket only to see the exact same picture as the one in Callista's locket.
She wasn't lying, she really is his sister. All the evidence pointed that she was telling the truth, but even so, he found everything difficult to believe. He finally found his long lost sister after more than 10 years.
"But why did you only find me now? What took you so long?, Micheal spoke with pain in his voice.
Maybe if she had come sooner he wouldn't have lived such a pathetic life, chasing after his parent's love. Maybe he could have lived a more comfortable life with a happy family.
"Maybe if you found me sooner, I wouldn't have lived such a miserable life", he said as tears streamed down his face, "All this time, I thought my real family abandoned me".
Callista pulls him into a hug. She didn't realise her younger brother had lived such a hard life.
"We never abandoned you", she sobbed, "You were taken from us against our will"
"I am so sorry I couldn't find you sooner", she continued, "you lived such a hard life because of my incompetence".
After crying for a few minutes, they break from embrace.
"I want to make up for all the hardship you were put through", she smiled, "but first I intend to give you back what was rightfully yours".
"What do you mean?", Micheal inquired.
Callista smiles before replying.
"I forgot to give you a proper introduction", she chuckled, "I am Callista Hayes, acting president of Hayes Industries".
"And I hereby relinquish my position to my brother and true heir to Hayes industries, Micheal Hayes", she grinned.
"Did you just say Hayes Industries? As in the largest company in the city?", Micheal questioned in awe, "And did you just say I am the true heir to the company?".
Callista smiled and nodded to confirm his suspicions.
Micheal couldn't believe his ears, this had to be a dream. Could she be playing a prank on him? But this was far too serious to be a joke. How could he be the true heir to such a large company, he just couldn't believe it.
Callista noticed his surprise and chuckled, she gently pats his hand as a form of reassurance.
"Mikey, don't think too much about it", she spoke softly, "This might be overwhelming right now, but you don't have to be scared. I'll be with you every step of the way".
"I'll make you the perfect heir", she continued, "And I'll help you get revenge on the ones who made you miserable, even if it costs me my entire fortune. I promise".
