“Hello my boy, how was your training today?” Damien's father asked in a highly exciting voice to his son. “Same old, same old father, but I'm looking forward to a better routine..... you know, something different. Something more extraordinary!” Teenage Damien exclaimed as he walked through to meet up with his father with an exhausted countenance “Hahaha,” his father laughed loudly and made a smirky smile. “Let's take a walk son.” Damiens father requests. As Damien and his father strolled down the hallway towards the balcony, each door they door and pathway were stationed with guards demonstrating obeisance by means of a short bow to he and his the king his father as he lectured him on how to be good king and alpha. “You know son,” Damien's father began his speech, “to be a true King and Alpha you must start learning from the basics of kingship and royalty.” “Leadership,” he continues but in a sterned voice and serious look facing upwards, “is the basics, to be a good ruler you must be a good leader. Leadership always comes before rulership and never the latter before the former or else you'll make mistakes you'll regret and therefore put your kingdom in jeopardy.” He says and turns to look at his son eyeball to eyeball. “Remember,it has always been the ways of our forefathers and ancestors,” Damien joins him in the mantra,“’to be a good ruler you must be a good leader and to be a good king you must be a good alpha’.” They both say it in unison. “I know, I know father, you've said it like a hundred times. Damien says while making a funny face.His father looks at him in a weird way.“Everyone around says it to me especially Dr Sophie Patel.” “You haven't heard it well enough then.”Said a loud but enigmatic feminine voice heard from an opposite direction of the hallway. “Just maybe you need to hear it a thousand or even a million and more times to get it my young lady.” the voice adds as the figure emerges visibly approaching their direction. Dr Patel is seen wearing a bright magenta colored dress that fits well into her thick and chubby physique but still covers her body from her neck down to her ankle with elegant embroidery woven from top to bottom and with a shoe that matches the dresses color embedded with tiny diamonds. “Oh my wits,” the king says with a chuckle and a hand on his chest, “you startled me doctor. I didn't see you coming.” He adds. “I almost thought it was my wife.” He says in a whisper to Dr Patel while covering his mouth in a one sided manner to make his voice low. Both the king and Dr Patel laugh hysterically at the hearing of the statement. “I heard that father at least I'm still here, it's not like I'm invisible.” Damien says in a serious tone. “Well you're not going to tell your mother now, are you?” His father asks with a smirk and makes a wink. “Would it even matter? Good afternoon doctor.” Damien responds in a rhetorical manner and greets Dr Patel with a bow. “Good afternoon my good boy, how is your training going?” She responds to the greeting and asks. “Very well I guess,” he responds and adds, ”I'm still at the basics.” “Well the basics are off course, are the fundamentals of your training. Without that you won't be able to proceed further if you're not well absorbed in it and I advise you do so take your time in it but don't be a sloth in it. Not to forget you have other higher disciplines in your training that you need to acquaint yourself with.” Dr Patel states. “And I couldn't agree more with the doctor.” The king nodded in agreement to what she said. “Well as it's said earlier, ‘a good alpha makes a good king’, I'll say it more than a million times as suggested by Dr Patel and even infinitely if I have to for as long as I still breath. If that's how many times I have to say it to you Damien, to know it's importance. You may not understand it my son but I hope you do in years to come. I speak to you not just as my son but as the heir to our great kingdom pack. You are the future of Moonstone Pack and it's a weighty responsibility to handle but wit the right guidance you'll do just great. I want you not just to be a good king but a great king even better than I have been and so shall the cycle continue with your own offspring, my dear son.” and His father speeches again. “I can see your wolf instincts on display.” Dr Patel mentions. “Isn't that a good thing doctor?” Damien asked, facing Dr Patel. “It is indeed a good thing but not being put in check can turn you into a vicious beast. Your being must come before your wolf especially in the heat of anger and frustration. It's the only way you can control your wolf and be a good alpha.” “Isn't that the reason for all this training?” Damien asks with a shrug.” “Exactly, you learn fast and for someone your age.” Dr Patel says excitedly, almost clapping her hands. Both the king and Dr Patel smile and nod in approval. “Oh my, my bad sire!” Dr Patel exclaims. What is it doctor? The king asked with curiosity. “The council needs your attention, we're scheduled for a meeting for members of the body this afternoon. That's the message I came to deliver before barging into this conversation of royalty between you and your son.” She states. “They're expecting us?” “Yes sire.” “Then we must not keep them waiting.”The king says and adds, referring to Damien. “Now you run along son, father has kingly matters to attend to.” “See you soon Damien." Dr Patel Remarks. As they both move, Damien makes his way to the palace en route to the same hallway he and his father used while coming to the balcony. He meets his mother on his way who becomes delighted at the sight of him. “My boy, my son and my prince, the one and only heir to Moonstone Pack.” She teased as she hastened her pace to hug him. While her arms are around him, she gives him a warm peck on his left cheek with a hissing sound at the end. “Huh, mother, the sound of me being the future king is becoming insufferable!” Damien exclaims. “Now Damien knows your princely duty is a lot to handle especially for someone your age but do not insult the privilege given to you.” His mother rebukes. “I'm sure your father has taken you for one of those royals as he always does, whatever he tells you must be taken seriously. Now why don't you go freshen up and come back for supper, you look famished.” The queen commands. “Yes mother.” He obeys and makes his way to his room. While on his way he meets his sister. “Hello big brother.” She teases him with a smile. “Hey Luna, how are you?” He asks. “I'm good bro, how was your training today?” “Don't wanna talk about it.” “Really, well I hope it was good, see you at dinner then. If you make up your mind to speak.” She says and moves away from his presence, walking stealthily to the main hall palace. All of these are fond memories of Damien now at his adult and as the king of his pack has about his parents in his younger years since their demise. Some nights he cries after remembering them, other nights he smiles. Some other nights, he does both. This particular night he was smiling on his bed with both hands crossed under his head on top of his pillow. He closes his eyes and falls asleep.
