Carlos gave Braxton a look. "No. It was I that did it".
"There is no need for that sarcasm, Carlos. Come on, we need to get him to a hospital."
Carlo shook his head. He pointed toward the twins. "They should take him to the hospital, we need to get you checked up".
Braxton ignored Carlos and moved to where Daniel lay.
"Hey, do you think you can walk if you lean on me?"
Daniel ignored him and continued to splutter blood from his mouth. Braxton turned to the twins and gestured for the twins to step forward. They did, their hands twitching in anxiety.
"You two should take him to the hospital. I'm sure that he doesn't want me anywhere close to him right now".
Jack and Jill nodded agreeably, fearing that Braxton might turn on them if they didn't listen to it. They both helped Daniel sit up and then maneuvered him onto Jack's back. Without another glance at Braxton, they hightailed it out of there.
"Let me know if he's okay later on!!" Braxton shouted after them.
"Are you okay, man?"
Braxton glanced down at himself and touched his gingerly. He winced slightly and then nodded at Carlos.
"Yeah, I'm okay, just a slight swell up on my face, I guess".
Carlos eyed him, looking from his head to his toe and back up. " Do I look I give a f**k about you right now? What were you trying to do? Kill him?" Carlos gestured to the three retreating figures.
"No cursing, man," Braxton admonished. He chuckled at the murderous glare that Carlos answered him with.
"Is that your problem, right now? You almost killed the future Alpha of the pack and all you can say at the moment is; No cursing, man?"
Braxton sighed and made his way out of the fighting ring. " He architected everything, don't you think? I mean, I was on my own when he came to me and asked me to escort him somewhere. Now, the somewhere happened to be the fighting ring and when I tried to leave, he pulled me back and started to punch my face".
Braxton threw his hands up frustratingly. "How the hell is any of that my fault? I tried not to get involved in this. I already knew it was so f*****g childish".
"It's not my fault that I have a rather hot-headed and dominant wolf. And I did try to control myself".
Carlos sighed and hastened his step to keep up with Braxton's long strides. " Well, the mistake had been made, and he's not dead, thanks to me, so I guess the Alpha will not have your head on a platter of gold and paraded around the pack for all to see".
Braxton's upper lips tugged up at the comment. " Yeah, thanks to you. I don't agree with the having my head on a platter of gold aspect if anything had happened to him, though. Our father is rational, and I'm sure he will whose fault all of this is".
Carlos patted Braxton's shoulder. " I love your faith, man, Glory!"
Braxton burst out laughing and punched at Carlos's shoulder. " Don't you get all sarcastic on me".
"They should be at the hospital now".
"Hmm. Which means the information has been circulated all around the hospital".
"I'm sure that those two idiots told everyone straight up that you are the one that inflicted the injuries on him".
"That is certain. How fast did those rumors spread in the pack?"
Carlos tilted his head to the side. " Very fast. No one minds their business in this pack. And when the rumor is about you or your brother, or worse about you two. Or worse, about an altercation between you two, especially one as brutal as this; haha haha, I'm sure it has gotten to the boundaries of the pack by now".
Braxton nodded in agreement, a calculative look on his face. " Which means that our father has heard about it".
"Yeah. Depending on how far his messenger is from the fighting square......"
"He should be here anytime soon....."
"My prince".
Braxton and Carlos exchanged knowing looks, and while Braxton groaned, Carlos burst out laughing.
"Let's hear him out first", The latter suggested. "We might be wrong for all we know".
Carlos turned to the messenger in front of them. "Yes. How can we help you?"
The messenger looked from Braxton to Carlos and back. "Uhm, my prince, the Alpha, your father, is asking for you in his office".
Carlos snorted. "Well, I guess you were not as lucky". He tapped Braxton's shoulder sympathetically.
They both watched as the eyes of the messenger clouded over as if a milkish white sheen was used to cover the balls of his eyes. They both waited. When the cloud cleared, he turned to Carlos.
"The Alpha said you should come along, too", he divulged.
Braxton turned to look at Carlos, an amused look on his. He smirked at him.
"Well, I guess you were not lucky, either".
Carlos glared at him. "Why does he want me? I didn't do anything, hell, I was the one that actually separated the two fools".
The messenger cringed at Carlos calling the Alpha's two sons fools.
Well, I guess he can. They are close, after all.
"You can ask him that yourself when we get there". Bowing to them to show his respect, the messenger turned and began to walk back to where he came from.
Braxton and Carlos watched him leave. Carlos leaned towards Braxton. "A quick question; why does your father stick to this old-fashioned way of sending a messenger, when he could have just mind-linked us like he did him?"
Braxton tilted his head to the side as if thinking about what Carlos just said. "Uhm, why don't you ask him that when we get there?"
Braxton took off running before Carlos could register what he just done.
"Oh no, you didn't!" Carlos shouted after him.
"Catch me if you can!!"
