Chapter 3

Isandra's POV I couldn't have heard him right He raised an eyebrow and I realised I actually had heard him right But I was mrresponsestunned to move What was even going on “Pay her no attention” Alpha Leo said with a wave of his hand. “Normally I wouldn't seeing as she is a human, but unfortunately for her, she has rudely interrupted our meeting and she needs to be put in her place” “ humans aren't even allowed in this room, so what is she doing here” Alpha Aleck continued “She's my property now, I saw her and I decided to keep her with the rest before we make our way back to our pack”, Alpha Leo responded "Yours? ", the question came out with a chuckle from Alpha Aleck It probably didn't make the slightest bit of sense If his chuckle wasn't enough evidence of that, the way he lifted his eyebrow surely "Yes, the newest addition to my slaves" Alpha Leo's response came so normally, that one would wonder if he had even caught on Alpha Aleck's response or if he was actually playing dumb Alpha Aleck raised a brow again, this time with a more disapproving look He probably knew he didn't mean slave in the usual sense, he knew exactly what he was referring to But it was an abomination and a greatly frowned upon one at that Even when she'd been attacked as a little girl many years ago by wolves they had tried any such thing with her or her mother "No" was all the response he gave to Alpha Leo "She belongs to the Palace as a servant" Alpha Leo broke into a throaty chuckle "She's a mere servant, surely it shouldn't concern you if I remove just one of your workers for personal reasons" Especially considering we're trying to agree on peace, I would think you'd be more inclined to let me have this tiny little thing He was right with that; even I couldn't understand why Alpha Aleck was even spending a moment past a second on this matter. AlphAleck seems to be looking into Alpha Leo's eyes almost as if he is searching for something His dark eyes turned on me in a split second and I felt my blood run cold under his stare Everyone was probably wondering the same thing I was, why was he making such a deal out of this, surely I wasn't the first servant to be taken from the palace As we remained transfixed, he snapped his fingers and a guard came to his side in a blink of an eye Why did everyone communicate by snapping their fingers, maybe that was how highly ranked people did things I found it quite rude,, to be honest "Bring her here," he said Bring who? Surely it couldn't be me Someone searching for a fair leaf clover would have better luck than me "Aleck don't test me" were the icy words that came from Alpha love didn't seem to be joking around anymore It was as if he took Alpha Aleck's command very personally "You will address me properly in my pack as the alpha that I am" he growled "and I don't seek to test you, that would be a waste of both our times, especially mine" "You and I both know you can't take a human as... a slave", he finished with a heavy eye roll. The pause before he said the word slave confirmed that he did know what Alpha Leo was actually referring to He dragged out the last word probably to let him know he wasn't fooled by his act Good He nodded to the guard to carry on with his instructions As the guard approached me, hands at his side that I knew would reach out to take me any moment now, my eyes kept going back between him and the two alphas I couldn't understand what Alpha Aleck would want with me And why he would risk upsetting his special guest for it "Enough!!" Alpha Leo yelled and the room practically shook with the intensity of his voice "If you do not leave her for me to take, just know that there will be war and it will be on your hands" He had to be bluffing, I thought "Oh please you can't simply want to declare war over a servant" Alpha Aleck rolled his eyes again "No, I don't, but I will declare war for this disrespect and total disregard for my presence and who I am" Alpha Leo responded, folding his arms across his chest By this time the guard had gotten to me, not knowing whether to obey his alpha command or avoid a war by not touching me, he stood still "Proceed", Alpha Aleck said to the guard, with a hint of irritation at the fact that he would dare pause in the first place, in his own land. With the way Alpha Aleck's face remained as he told the guard to proceed, you wouldn't tell that he had heard the threat Alpha Leo gave him. To try and preserve my dignity in whatever way I could, I didn't allow him to pull me or pick me up shamefully, I took a deep breath and took slow and controlled steps right behind the guard, following him towards the point where Alpha Aleck stood It happened so fast Too fast It was only wolf speed that could have allowed Alpha Leo to pick the guard up with such speed "No no please please" The guard was already begging before what happened clicked in my head In the blink of an eye,, Alpha Leo had him by the neck, threatening to squeeze the life out of him "Please" he begged even more, the beads of sweat on his forehead came out of nowhere as he winced and Clawed at the hand the alpha held him up and dangling with Alpha Aleck remained still as he sat where he was, looking at Alpha Leo, expressionless. As if he was calling his bluff and daring him to do it, to squeeze harder to the point of killing this unfortunate guard who had somehow gotten caught in the middle of a disagreement between two of the most powerful wolves, both in rank and strength. Everyone knew what would happen if he did. Wheezing, grasping and still Clawing at the hand squeezing his neck, "Please" He was crying now as he begged for his life Alpha Leo paid no heed to his cries, his fist clenched tighter and tighter While the only thing everyone in the room did was stare The only thing racing through my mind was fear, pity and a bit of anger Fear for the guard's life Pity for the lower ranked who were always treated like less, whose lives had no value And anger for the injustice of it all after a bit of continued squeezing, slowly but surely his body fell limp in his hands, he was dead, the air squeezed out of his lungs I screamed I couldn't even hear it I couldn't hear anything My ears rang with fear and panic He was probably just an omega, that's why he could kill him so easily But it didn't matter, he was a living soul, probably with a family Just like me, just like my mother It was then Alpha Aleck, finally acting like he could see what was happening in front of him, got up from his seat and sent Alpha Leo a few paces back with one of the most deadly punches I had ever seen. It all happened in a nanosecond And the punch seemed to have little to no effect on him, except for the shock plastered across his face He couldn't believe what had just happened "How dare you" his voice reverberating in the room and bouncing off the walls from the intensity "You started this when you wouldn't leave me with what I said was mine" The calm in Alpha lacks voice was the stark opposite of Alpha Leo's countenance right now I stood, frozen to a spot as I watched the guard's lifeless body, which had now been dropped on the floor as if it was some object, alpha Leo had let go of it when he had been punched Not that it had meant anything to him eithwayays " I'm sure You know what this means now" "No, I don't. You will know what it means when I leave this place without her " "Not only are you leaving without her, this meeting is over" "Fine. Know that you brought what is coming upon yourself and your people, because trust me I will be back and it won't just be with my words" Alpha Leo finished, Barring his teeth at him in a growl Alpha Aleck bared his own right back at him as they stood face to face almost as if they were going to fight Aloft the people that were present had started filling out, I wonder why. "This was a mistake, I should have known this would only end badly with someone like you," Alpha Aleck said as he turned to return to his seat "You would know wouldn't you" was all alpha Leo said in return "Guards hold the servant and escort everyone from the black crescent pack out. We're done here." The guards moved swiftly, coming to seize me as murmurs rippled through the gathered wolves. Some exchanged wary glances, while others sneered at the Black Pack members, their disdain clear. Now that the member of the other pack was on their way out, my shoulders wanted to relax but they couldn't As the Black Pack wolves were escorted away, a tense stillness settled over the hall. The air was thick with unspoken words, but no one dared to challenge the Alpha’s authority "Why was the Alpha so keen on not letting me go with Alpha Leo" was all I wondered Before I could dwell on it further, a voice rang out—firm, commanding, and laced with something even the Alpha had to acknowledge “What was the meaning of that"
