*Jason`s POV*
As I got closer to Sammy’s house max started pacing in my head agitated. He doesn’t know what’s wrong I had asked several times he just kept growling to get to mate. So, by the time I got to her house I was anxious to have her in my arms again. So, when I called her, and she answered the phone upset with her voice shaking I was irate. Who ever had the audacity to hurt my mate would pay. I had to calm down, I didn’t want to cause Sammy any further stress. I stood at her door waiting. What was taking Sammy so long? It was taking a lot of, okay All of, my self-control to not burst through Samantha’s Front door. Someone had upset her, and I wanted to fix whatever it was. Standing here we could smell and even feel so many negative emotions coming from our mate. Having a Mate bond this Strong prior to Marking or even mating was unusual. It happening between an Alpha and a human was unheard of. Usually, human wolf pairings were weaker. I was happy it wasn’t the case for us. Her pain had max and I unsettled. Me being the logical one had assessed the situation and realized it wasn’t a physical stressor. Sammy had spoken about her dogs, and I didn’t hear them. If Sammy were in physical danger I would hear the dogs or a struggle. I hear neither, so that gave me enough comfort to restrain max. as usual the brute was filled with amazingly awful ideas. “I see why breaking down the door is a bad idea so just break the lock and we will replace it. Mate needs us!” “Max, what is wrong with you, You dipshit!” “Must Protect ma-SHES COMING” he howls as soon as her sweet scent drew closer. Max yields his attempts to take control. He no longer had the need to break down the door, our mate was coming to us. Samantha opens the door and begins apologizing for making me weight. She was hiding her pain well, but she couldn’t hide from me. I wonder how often she walks around hiding her pain, it seems like she has practice at this. She is avoiding eye contact, possible to hide the fact that her eyes missed their normal sparkle. While she smiled and made a few jokes she could tell her smile wasn’t genuine. It wasn’t like the smile he had fallen in love with during the day. “I can smell her tears J” max whined in my head. “Kitten?” I call to her softly. I gently place two fingers under her chin. Gently I guide her eyes to mine. “what’s wrong? why are you sad?” I ask as gently as possible. She looks at me shocked. Probably wondering how I had only known her for such a short time, yet I so quickly seen through her mask. “why are you crying Kitten? Let me help you. Please!” I quietly observe Sammy’s face as she absorbed what I had said. For a brief moment I thought she might actually open up to me. “Its stupid Jason don’t worry about it handsome. It’s nothing I can’t handle.” As she is saying this I can practically see her stuffing her feelings down deep inside of herself. It wasn’t hard to tell that Sammy was used to dealing with her pain alone. She took a step back putting space between us, further isolating herself. While I admired her strength, I needed her to know she wasn’t alone anymore. No woman of mine would carry the weight of her world alone. Max was whining in my head soft whimpers, neither of liked to feel powerless. Especially regarding our mate, it brought back painful memories. “Samantha, Kitten, I have not one single doubt that you are more than capable of handling things on your own. But relationships are built on trust, communication and sharing. Sharing the good and the bad. So, kitten will you trust me enough to communicate and share with me your burdens?” As I finish speaking I can do nothing but get lost in her eyes. Sammy’s beautiful Brown eyes are filled with so many emotions. To be honest it almost made me dizzy how many emotions were swirling in her eyes. After what feels like forever Sammy finally speaks. Her voice much softer than normal “Relationship? Isn’t it too early to be thinking about that?” I had to fight the urge to chuckle, everything I said and all she heard was relationship. “Nope, not too soon at all. I know what I want, and I go for it.” I took a step closer to Sammy reaching out, I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “From the moment I seen you at the farm I knew that I wanted nothing more than to be yours.” Max was howling and growling at me to tell her she is our mate. I can’t do anything but ignore him as Sammy still looks uncertain. If words weren’t enough I would show her how much she meant to me. I took one more step towards her stopping just in front of her. I wanted her to come to me I didn’t want to push myself on her while she was in a vulnerable state. I had a feeling that my touch could calm her as her touch calms me. Our mate bond is so strong, and it hasn’t even been solidified. I open my arms for her silently offering her the comfort she needs but won’t ask for. Her eyes meet mine and I see the exact moment she decides to let down her walls. She throws herself into me, I instantly wrap my arms around her. I hold her tightly against me, our bodies seeking each other’s comfort. I can’t help but notice this is way different than our s****l touches. Instead of lighting a firecracker off it was a soothing heat, like holding a hot cup of coffee in the winter. We stood like that, silently comforting each other, for a few moments. Even max is respectful of this moment. Suddenly she squeaks “My dogs” and tries to push out my arms. I chuckle at her trying to blow her long sass hair out of her eyes. “I can’t wait to meet them” I tell her as I let her go. “well, you won’t have long to wait, Follow me” she grabs my hand and leads me to the kitchen. She pulls out two cups and we quickly make our coffees I had insisted she let me make my own. But she watched as I put my sugar and milk, it was as if she was taking a mental note of how I liked my coffee. “So how do you feel about sitting around a fire?” Max barks out a laugh “you suck at making fires!” “If she has lighter fluid I could do it! Just shut up! I need to think!” max is now howling with laughter and I’m ignoring him. “kitten I am not very good with fire.” I tell her honestly. The look on her face and the twinkle in her eye scream trouble. When she giggled I could tell she was doing her best to not tease me. “Oh, I got it! You sit! And let my dogs sniff you and just enjoy the show” I thought hard about how I could be helpful “if you need wood chopped ill take care of it.” She giggles quickly before answering. “I chopped plenty earlier!” when Sammy stopped walking in front of me I realized we were at the back door, and I was about to meet her pack. “Hey max don’t be a d**k to the dogs.” “you worry too much J.” My full attention is now on Sammy. She opens the door and tells the dogs to backup. Once we walk out the back door and close it she turns to the dogs “ Bella willy Petey this is Jason. Be nice!” we walk towards some chairs that are arranged around the fire pit. Sammy points to a chair and says, “get yourself comfy!” the dogs had followed us all the way to the chairs. They had been sniffing at me the whole way. Sammy kept a close eye on them while she gathered her fire-starting stuff. When the female dog started checking me out a bit to invasively I hear “Bella Manners! Immediately the brindle Pitty backs off sniffing me one more time before trotting off to sit beside Sammy. “this beautiful girl is Bella so who is Petey and who is Willy?” she stops what she's doing and looks at me with a smirk. “willy is the Mini doxy, Petey is the Pitbull/ Dachshund.” Wait what did she just say?! “Wait!! Him and her had him?!” Maxwell was howling laughing. Sammy was snickering to herself as she went back to work on her pyrotechnics. A few minutes later Sammy walked away from the pit to the stack of logs she had chopped. She picked through the pile for smaller dry pieces. I stood to go help her but immediately sat back down when I met Sammy’s eyes. Without a single word she commanded me to sit. “that was hot” Maxwell Sighs, “yes. yes it was. We are blessed Max”
