Honesty was already seated at one of the wooden benches, scanning the area for her. When he finally spotted Vicky walking toward him, he raised his hand so she could see him.
“Hello, beauty,” he said softly as she approached.
“Hi,” Vicky replied. “How are you?”
“I’m cool,” Honesty said, smiling. “Have a seat.”
“Thank you,” she murmured, sitting beside him.
For a moment, he simply looked at her, his expression shifting. “You haven’t been picking my calls. What happened?”
Vicky looked away. “Well… sorry about that. I’ve been busy lately.”
Honesty nodded slowly. “Oh, it’s okay.”
But as he studied her face more closely, his eyes widened. “Vicky… what happened to your face?”
She froze.
“My face?” she repeated, touching it quickly. “Oh, this… it’s nothing. Just a small accident. I hit my face on my wall.”
Honesty didn’t look convinced—at all.
Honesty’s eyes were still on her face, concern deep in his voice. “Sorry, but… he couldn’t have hurt you like this. Or did you get into a fight?”
Vicky quickly shook her head, trying to change the topic. “Nope. Wait—hold on a second. Are you married?”
Honesty chuckled softly. “No, I’m not married.”
“Okay then,” she said, leaning back a little. “What’s your occupation?”
“Well,” he replied with a small smile, “I’m into modeling. And I also produce.”
Vicky’s eyes widened. “You don’t mean it!” she said, smiling for the first time. “This is my dream. I’ve been dreaming of being in the industry. I really want to be a model.”
Honesty laughed lightly. “Sincerely? You want to be a model?”
“Yes,” she admitted. “I’m also a scriptwriter.”
“Whoa,” he murmured, genuinely impressed. “You’re really talented, Vicky. Anyway, it’s nice to meet you.”
She smiled softly. “My pleasure.”
Honesty adjusted his seat slightly, still looking at her with interest. “Well… I would love to see you in my office tomorrow. By 9:00 a.m.”
Vicky nodded. “Okay. I won’t be late.”
“Good,” he replied. “So let’s forget about what happened and enjoy ourselves.”
“Sure,” she said with a small smile.
Honesty returned the smile, the tension between them melting away slowly.
Later that evening, Honesty was in his apartment with Alvin. The two men sat in the living room, a plate of roasted chicken wings between them and two cold bottles of malt on the table. Music played softly in the background while they relaxed and talked.
They were discussing casually when Alvin suddenly leaned forward, curiosity written all over his face.
“Guy, what about that girl you met in Amsterdam Club?” Alvin asked, grabbing another chicken wing. “You won’t believe it, but something is telling me you’re already falling for her.”
Honesty paused, staring at his drink for a moment before speaking. “You know what, Alvin? I think… I have fallen for her.”
Alvin burst into loud laughter, nearly choking on his food. “Don’t tell me that! You mean the girl you just met? You are now falling for her?”
“Guy, you no understand,” Honesty said quietly. “I love this girl. Honestly, she gets me. She is so talented.”
“How do you mean?” Alvin asked, wiping his hands with a tissue.
“She’s a writer,” Honesty replied proudly. “And she has this courage… this fire. She even wants to become a model.”
Alvin shook his head in disbelief. “Guy, I’ve never seen your type o,” he said, laughing again. “But wait, what’s the problem? She get boyfriend?”
Honesty nodded slowly, taking a sip of his malt. “Yes. That’s the problem. And the guy is a total mess.”
“So what did you do?” Alvin asked.
“I invited her to my office tomorrow,” Honesty said.
Alvin raised an eyebrow. “Why? Why did you invite her?”
“She needs a job,” Honesty explained. “And there’s a vacancy in my company. I want to help her.”
Alvin relaxed back into the couch and smiled. “Okay o,” he said with a grin. “No wahala. I just hope everything goes well.”
Honesty nodded silently, hoping the same.
Sugar and Sophia were in Sugar’s apartment, busy folding Vicky’s clothes. They looked tired but their faces were filled with joy as they helped their friend. Vicky, who had just returned, joined them happily.
“Hi girls,” Vicky greeted, laughing as she dropped her bag.
“Bessy, you are so so happy,” Sophia said, already smiling. “What’s the update?”
Vicky sighed deeply with excitement. “Well, I have a lot of gist to give the both of you.”
Sugar quickly stopped folding. “Okay, we are all ears.”
“You won’t believe I met someone,” Vicky began. “Not only that, he is also a producer in D.E.C Company, a model, and…” she paused dramatically.
Sugar frowned playfully. “Which guy are you talking about?”
Vicky grinned. “Honestly. I’m talking about Honestly.”
Sugar gasped loudly. “Oh my God, girl! You mean Honestly? Ah, anything can happen o!”
Sophia nodded. “So, so welcoming. It can happen o.”
“Cool,” Vicky continued. “He said I should meet him in his office tomorrow.”
“That is good,” Sugar said happily. “Omoh, your star wan shine so.”
Sophia clapped with excitement. “I’m so happy for you.”
