In the NICK of TIME

Chapter 2

Kaisley felt nothing. So, she knows which of them was hit by a bullet. Kaisley trembled with fear as she slowly turned in the direction of her friend. Tears welled up in her eyes as she saw Aisle's bloody body lying on the floor.

Kaisley's heartbeat doubled even more when she heard footsteps approaching their direction. Kaisley tearfully knelt in front of her friend. Aisle's eyes were still open, but his breathing was slowly getting heavier.

"Kaisley... ran away."

Kaisley shook her head at her dying friend. "No. I will not leave you here."

Aisle Marquez cannot be considered Kaisley's best friend but he has been a good person every time they are together. Aisle is very different from all the men who became her clubmates. Whenever they have an activity at their club, she always pairs with Aisle because she was comfortable in the presence of this man. Kaisley could not imagine leaving this man in the midst of disaster especially when he is dying.

Kaisley turned to her left palm when she felt that Aisle seemed to be giving her something. When Kaisley looked at it, she was slightly stunned when she saw a film on the camera they used earlier. Kaisley understood what her companion wanted to convey, but she still could not decide to leave him alone.

"Film. . . Go- Urgh- Nick- Urgh- L'ME coffee shop. . ." Aisle's speech was interrupted by a cough of blood.

Aisle's speech was interrupted by his coughing of blood. Kaisley glanced again at the oncoming men as well as at the part of the hallway she could run into. Tears welled up in Kaisley's eyes because she no longer knew what to do. The footsteps approaching in the direction of Kaisley and Aisle made Kaisley's hearing grow louder and as a result, her heartbeat increased even more due to nervousness and fear.

"Go! Run!"

Kaisley knew that Aisle had poured all his energy into his shout. So, even though it was against Kaisley's will to do so, she turned her back on her companion, wiped away her tears and ran until the men in tuxedos had not caught up with her.

Kaisley burst into tears as she walked down the hall and she ran out of St. Thomas Aquino's school non-stop. Kaisley almost stumbled on the run. Kaisley's clumsyness still work even in this situation. Kaisley, however, easily understood what her companion wanted to convey to her. As Kaisley ran to save her life, it was imprinted on her mind how to do justice to the bereaved friend. Although Kaisley was tired of running, she had to escape and get as far as she could

Kaisley temporarily stopped running under the mango tree. Kaisley catches her breath and temporarily calms herself down to get rid of her nervousness and she can think straight.

"Did you see her? She hasn't gone far yet. We need to get the film right away before she can give it to the authorities."

Kaisley turned to the source of the voice and fear rose again in her system when she saw two people wearing black tuxedos.

Out of fear, she ran again even though her fatigue had not subsided. In the middle of the night, Kaisley was not sure if there was an open door she could ask for help. Kaisley kept running and in the middle of her run, she was encouraged to see a coffee shop that still have light inside and seemed to be open even though there was no signboard marked 'Open'.

Kaisley looked around before she pushed open the shop door and went inside. Kaisley took a deep breath as she entered the shop. Because of Kaisley's tiredness and fear, she sat on the floor of the shop with marble tiles and then she took a deep breath.

Even though Kaisley was breathing one after another because she was still tired, she forced herself to shout and speak. "Is anyone here? Help!" Kaisley looked around and only then did she notice the two men who had been wondering while looking at her.

Nick Roger is a man who values the only principle in life. It is about don't step into someone's business as not to get caught up in any trouble. For Nick, his life will only be miserable if he gets to the point where he has to interfere in the lives of others. Nick grew up alone in life and thought nothing but himself. So even though he has his own business, he still does not progress because he also does not like to negotiate with others. His own business is a coffee shop named L'ME and this name comes from the initials of the only woman he loved and trusted all his life, but this woman died in an accident. She helped a child and because of her kindness, she died.

Nick has a strong appeal. It is also undeniable that he has a look and everywhere he goes women are staring at him because of his blue eyes that when exposed to light or sun it seems to become a contact lens when observed.

One night, Nick was late closing the shop with his only friend, Joe because Joe fell asleep inside the shop. Whenever his friend is sound asleep, it is not easy to wake him up. So he just waited for him to wake up before closing the shop. Joe woke up at midnight and Nick really angry when he finished picking up the accumulated money at the counter. They were both standing at the counter of the shop when a woman entered who seemed to have just started running because of her sweat and shortness of breath.

At first, Nick seemed stunned by the newly arrived mestiza woman, but when he regained his composure, Nick tried to speak to talk and ask her, but she spoke to him first. "Is anyone here? Help!" The woman looked around the coffee shop and when their eyes met, there seemed to be an electric shock to Nick's system.
