Chapter Eighteen

    I woke the next morning feeling better from the fever, but sick in other ways. I lay in bed with the ongoing sensation that I was to face the bleak reality of my decisions last night. I ponder the words said by Ashton and myself last night, questioning if it was in fact a dream or if I was truly as confused as I feel.      I get up to use the bathroom, but before I do, I peak into Ashton's room to see if he is in there. When I don't see him, there is a small feeling of disappointment that builds inside of me.      I wash my face with cold water, trying to wake myself from this nightmare of emotions I see staring back at me in a mirror. I hear my chamber door open, but don't hear anyone call my name. When I finish, I leave the bathroom to find no one in my room. I look around, curious
