11 Breath of a Dragon ————————— E wan’s jaw dropped as he witnessed flames burst forth from Áinle’s mouth. The inferno raced into the sky, lighting everything up in false daylight. The flames snaked this way and that, like a desert serpent Ewan had once seen. The tendrils twisted right suddenly, striking one of the siege towers. The flames seemed to possess a mind of their own. They roiled around the base of the tower, licking at the wood planks like a ravenous animal preparing to devour its meal. Higher up the tower, men began emptying buckets of water onto the flames. It didn’t matter. The flames hissed and popped, but they continued to consume the tower, swirling around it in a vicious circle.
