"Huntress!!!!!" I screamed.
I never had an idea on how to hunt and now I had to be a huntress.
"Training time"
She smiled.
This was my second time training in my journey.
"You'll train on boots"
"I don't have a footwear"
I retorted viewing my foot.
She entered the tent and brought a boot out. It was quite heavy.
"Let's head off to the cave"
She pointed, her voice unclear.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
"I hate training"
My wolf whispered.
I laughed out, it sounded like it was the trainee. Still lost in thought, I found Karina far away. I closely ran after her, she wasn't even keeping an eye on me. She kept walking and suddenly halted at the entrance of a stony cave. Instinctively, I stopped.
"The Cave"
She voiced ominously but it wasn't her tone. The voice seemed strange- ancient. She didn't disguise it, it was not natural. It sounded like the voice of a ghost- a spirit.
"What happened to the cave"
I inquired.
She Turned, her eyes were lightning.
"The cave, where all the chosen ones were trained"
She paused.
"To become a huntress"
She said in a very prolonged manner.
"You mean I will enter into this dark cave"?
"Yes, to hunt- possess the power of a huntress"
"No other way"
"Yes, if you survive it- your sword is yours"
"Survive"?????
"It's a matter of life or death" she uttered, her voice sharp. I was paralyzed with fear, my palms sweating.
"Go into it"
I fearfully went into it filled with anxiety- I was scared stiff. I felt like I was being watched as my blood ran cold
"Who's in here"
I aired, I could hear my voice echo.
I heard a growl- my heart skipped a bit. I felt a sense of dread. The sound seemed to draw nearer- closer. I stood stiff awaiting what was to come. I looked deep into the cave, a light flashed on me. The light came nearer and behold, it was a a wolf. It eyes were flashing bright light. I gasped as my knees buckled.
"Dear daughter, you are on a holy ground"
The wolf howled.
Instantly, I fell to my kneels. It was speaking, it could talk. I shivered in fear.
"Huntress are fearless not fearful as you are"
It spoke in a hoarse voice.
"I am not one yet"
"But you will soon become one"
"I never wanted this life" I cried.
"You are meant for it daughter"
"Who are you" I asked. "Besides you keep calling me daughter"
"I am the cave wolf"
"Yes you are the daughter of the great hunter, Mulan Ethan" it growled.
"That's my dad"
"Yes, he lived, he died"
"He created a history in the land of hunters"
My family indeed had life histories I wasn't told about.
"I just came here to hunt"
"That's what you might be told"
"But that's far from the truth"
"There are just powers to possess"
"And you must survive it or.....
"I know that" I cut in sharply.
"Come with me" it commanded.
I followed it, ready to possess what will make me live or die. We entered deeper, it was filled with fire sticks which lit up the dark cave. It kept walking.
"Are we still moving" I asked it.
"No questions allowed here"
I kept silent. We arrived at a small area filled with some magical light.
"This light had been here for millions of centuries to be possessed"
"Let's see your strength"
It growled.
"Stretch out your hands"
It ordered and I obeyed.
As I did, my eyes widened beyond control. I exhaled sharply. My eyes bleeding- yes blood gushed out of it. My hands refused withdrawing from the light but the light was dimming about to go off. I screamed as the light got into me, my skin shining brightly. As the light reached the moment to go off, I could feel life and consciousness slipping out of me and suddenly it went off. In a trice, I fell down, unconscious of myself. After some moments, I slowly rose up.
"Where am I" I asked.
"You made it" Karina said happily.
I was out of the cave already, my heart melting.
"I did what"
'You possessed it'
"The light, the wolf"
I could scarcely remember all that happened all in that couple of seconds.
Karina wore a congratulatory smile at me seeming happy. Now, I came back to my senses.
"I did it, I possessed it"
"I did not die"
I shouted seeming to regain consciousness.
She brought out a sword wrapped in a black cloth. The sword handle seemed hand-made but rather made by the gods. The handle was a wolf head- but though small. She handed the sword to me as a smile curled up her lips. I unwrapped it, it was long with two sharp edges.
"How can I make use of it" I inquired.
"You need to be fortified"
"Fortified????
"Yes in the water" she retorted sharply as her eyes swept over me.
She turned back, her eyes gazing downwards.
I gazed at her direction and what I saw shocked me. It was a small enclosed area filled with water.
"I never saw that, how come"
I inquired.
"What you see in the next minute, you might not see again"
"Why" I questioned further.
"The Vieen forest is filled with mystery and wonder"
I stepped forward a bit, frozen in confusion.
"Go into it" she ordered.
Without hesitation, I entered. My legs trembling in the cold water. She made a chant uttering some words which seemed meaningless I kept silent, as the water covered my whole body- sword held tightly to my self.
Instantly, she dispersed some yellowish stones in the water and they began to melt. The water suddenly became warm. My skin peeled fast, another skin emerging- my body felt warm. I gripped my sword firmly as it emit a strange light.
"You've wielded the sword"
My wolf whispered.
