20 Hormone Monster

"Can't wait once they learn that you are also the senator's daughter," Lilith mocked. Saint remained silent for the duration of the ceremony. All the attention that the people were giving her made her uncomfortable. She did not like any of it. The locals gave out food and refreshments after the red ribbon cutting. After a few more minutes of entertaining people, Sandro made his way to Saint's side. "Hey," he greeted her with a broad smile plastered on his face. Saint's eyes bore no emotion. She was thinking. "Why did you do that?" "Did what?" Sandro was confused. "You should've asked me before you made our relationship public. And why do you have to lie? None of this was because of me." Her hormones were raging mad, but she kept it at bay. "How dare you come into my world and ruin everything I managed to build for myself? Are you that insensitive, Sandro?" "Aren't we announcing our marriage months from now? What's the difference?" He could not understand her. Saint pursed her lips to stop her mouth from commenting more. Sandro was right. She was way too sensitive. "It's okay. I...I'm sorry," she said and lowered her head. Saint heard gasps from behind and found Maze and Lilith watching them with all eyes and ears. "Did you just say sorry?" Maze asked, amazed. "Get lost." She stamped her feet away from the event and walked towards the car. Once inside the vehicle, she took a packet of cigarettes and lit one. At that moment, her phone rang. "Dad," she answered before puffing another smoke out. "You never told me anything about making an announcement," Theodore's voice was filled with teasing. Unfortunately, Saint was not in the mood for banter. "I never knew that there would be an announcement." She was starting to get annoyed again. "Wait, why did you know about it?" "The internet. It cleared up the issue about Sandro. Articles showed that Sandro was photographed while doing business deals regarding the project he was leading on the outskirts. Also, your identity was clarified since you were in the alleyway with him." Sandro used me for PR? That explains all this. She could not be mad at Sandro for revealing the truth. In the first place, their marriage was no secret. They just decided not to make a fuss about it and announce it. That fact would come out someday, whether she liked it or not. In this case, it came out a little earlier than she expected. Her head was full of thoughts. She forgot her father at the other end of the call. "Should I announce you as my daughter next?" Theodore's voice sounded hopeful. He was genuinely hopeful that Saint would allow him to tell the world she was his daughter, a Fonseca. "We have already talked about this. It's not safe for you to have a weakness. People will target me to cause your downfall." Saint was not scared about her safety. She was scared that people would find out what her job was once her identity was made public. All people knew was that Theodore Fonseca had a deceased wife and an estranged daughter. "I understand. Eli got discharged this morning." Sandro was waiting outside the car for a few minutes. When he arrived, he found Saint talking on the phone, so he decided to give her some privacy. The moment she put the phone down, he opened the door and settled himself. Saint threw the cigarette outside the window. Sandro doesn't like it when I smoke. "Are you done?" She plastered a smile on her lips which left Sandro baffled. "Not mad anymore?" He softly asked as he tested the waters. How can her mood shift so fast? "I wasn't mad. I was overwhelmed." It was true. She did not know how to handle her new title as the mayor's wife. Sandro showed her a soft and urged her to lean over. "Come here," he reached out to her and enveloped her in a tight hug. Saint's marshmallow vanilla scent invaded his sense of smell. It was sweet. He loves it. Her lips pouted. "But you still lie. You finished the project long before we married." How could he give her credit for his hard work? "It doesn't matter. I did that to protect you. As long as people know that you are mine, they will never try to hurt you. Sooner or later, people will eventually learn about our marriage. I took the opportunity to our advantage. Eli's accusation will be cleared, and people will know how important you are to me. "But I'm sorry for putting you on the spot." Those words melted her heart instantly. Now that she became clear-headed, she realized that providing Sandro with a good reputation on the outskirts would help him win the election, which was her plan, to begin with. She was getting angry at events that would benefit her cause. Her menstruation was messing up her head. She let go of the embrace and said, "Let's buy food." Her tummy rumbled, causing Sandro to laugh. "Okay, where to?" "Anywhere with fried chicken." They languidly spent the rest of the morning eating a bucket of fried chicken from a well-known fast-food chain. In the afternoon, Sandro and Saint drove to the city hall. Sandro's assistant, Train, called, but all she heard was Sandro's half-end of the call. Saint did not bother asking. She felt so full after their lunch, so she relaxed in the passenger seat. Upon arriving at the mayor's office, Train greeted them. He was astonished to find the mayor and his wife wearing partnered outfits but decided not to comment. "Were the papers ready?" Sandro asked. Train called him to remind him of the papers he needed to sign. He only had less than a year as mayor. He needed to prepare for the next administration. Train nodded while giving Saint a side-eye glance and cleared his throat. "Miss Amanda has been waiting in your office since this morning." Saint's forehead knotted at the mention of the woman's name. Should she blame Sandro for attracting that woman? Or should she blame the woman for being attracted to him? She was starting to get annoyed again. Damn this hormone monster.
